Setting Snippet: This is a galaxy where magic has become so advanced it has pushed into the reaches of space, powering the technology of ships, cars, and even life suits for walking in space. Laser swords and guns used in fights next to each other, you can encounter both dragons and spaceships! The Setting I am using is called Dark Matter from Mage Hand Press, there is tons of info about this setting out there but PM me I can tell you more if you want even more in-depth ideas for it.
Story Snippet: I have several story ideas but the main concept I want is for this game to be more about the players then the DM’s story. I have run many games this way and it develops into a very reach story most the time. I have some questions I will have your answer with your submission.
Ship Roles: Everyone has a role on a sci-fi ship if the game goes that way, do you want to be a captain, pilot, gunner, medic, engineer, or fighter pilot? There are many other roles on the ship but these are the main ones that the game focuses on.
Time Frame: I am going to keep this up for a bit, closing the forum on the 26th of November. I will contact those I choose and we will start the game just after the new year. Taking time to work out backstories and flush out some character interactions! I enjoy games that have deep roleplay and rich stories and that is what I try to bring to my games as a DM. If you have any questions PM me if you want to apply to answer the following questions in the forum post!

Have done 5e for over a year mainly real world games rather than online, did pathfinders for about a month before getting a group for 5e.
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
Role-Playing.
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
Doctor Who/Ender's Game/Star Wars
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
I'm honestly down for anything, but I always loved those, starting from the bottom stories where players/characters work their way up to badass-ry/world-power. Tales that have nice character-development are great to.
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
10/10 (lol); PG-13 to R, I'm down for anything
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Anthony "North" Tiberius - Human Rogue, Male Pilot/Gunner
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
Born an orphan, North was often passed around, going from one family to another, no ever keeping him long, primarily due to his uncanny intelligence and attitude towards most people. However, one day, after getting into a scuffle with some adults who had target him, a passing merc caught an interest in the 10 year old boy who was able to stand his ground against 8 grown men. After the fight was done, North was the only one left standing, but was to exhausted to see, much less stop what came after. Upon awakening, North discovered that he had been taken by that merc whose attention he caught, he was called "Zabius Rega". It was this man, who, for the next 8 years of his life, North trained under. He even gave him his name, but more importantly, he gave him a home. Albeit it was a home often surrounded by conflict and danger, as they traversed the outer rim and anywhere that offered work for good pay. At 18 years old, North had stopped being his master's apprentice, and now stood next to him as his partner. When he was 22, Zabius was fatally wounded by a wacko wizard. On his death bed, Zabius told North his story, his real name was Zabius Spar, an exiled clansman of the once legendary Rogans. He was the last of his clan, but he didn't want that, so he made North make him a promise. He'd carry on the legacy, though he was not of blood, he'd be able to earn it. He'd become a true warrior tested by battle and fire. Zabius had long admired the warriors, so upon making the promise to renew the now dead clan, his mind and heart became dead set on that goal. In the years following his master's death, North would repeatedly take on various contracts that tested or pushed his abilities to the limit. Whenever a war came around, he often took on contracts that brought him up against, or alongside high risk missions. Now, he's traveling with whom ever pays enough or seems interesting, his goal in mind, he would need a good amount of money and reputation.

(Law Enforcement)
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?

5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Male kobold sorcerer cook
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
With the blood of a brass dragon flowing through his veins, he loves nothing more than cooking and listening to others talk about their problems and tell him stories. Often times members of the crew begin to seek him out more to wet their appetites for information rather than food. The kobold wears a set of special goggles to protect his sensitive eyes from the harsh bright light found in most areas of the spaceship and likes to keep the kitchen and dining room areas dimly light so that he can comfortably cook and fall with others without wearing the goggles.

PC gamer for years and only got into DND recently but have been loving the post to play style and started DM'ing two games after joining a handful of games.
Sounds like a great campaign you're setting up, would love to join!
EDIT: I updated my post to change the gender of my character, just to try and have a nicer balance in the submissions so far!
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
Definitely Role-playing!
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
Empire Strikes Back(although I love all Star Wars), The Fifth Element, Firefly(tv and movie!)
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
(Examples include but are not limited to Political, Pirates, Military, Mercenaries, Rebellion, Explorers, Business, Law Enforcement, Survival etc)
I quite like the idea of some sort of rogue trader type campaign - travelling different planets trying to earn some dough/survive and no doubt getting into trouble along the way, in the same vein as firefly. But I’m up for anything at all, they all sound good!
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
I don’t know US ratings but I’m down for anything (UK would be U->18)
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Jukuxan “Juk” Hhlixan, Eladrin, Female, Druid, Engineer(Though could happily double as a medic if needed)
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
Jukuxan, or Juk as most call her, has always felt a connection to the universe for as long as she has known. It has always been a part of her, just as she is a part of it, and the understanding of how things work seems to flow naturally into her without even a second thought. Those who observe her closely would swear that she is listening to the machines, but that wouldn’t make any sense at all now would it.
Growing up she was always amazing her parents with her ability to fix things, to know exactly what was wrong and find the solution, and this proved very useful out in the outer planets where replacements were hard to come by. Now as an adult her home planet has developed into a reasonably sized hub for the region, with many ships coming and going for a great variety of reasons. It was only natural that she ended up working at the star port helping to fix the ships of those who passed by. Just as it is only natural that she will end up leaving on one of those ships the moment someone with an opening takes notice of her talents.

Been an avid follower of D&D and other rpgs(pathdfinder, dark heresy, shadowrun) for years. Only recently discovered the wonderful world of PBP where I can indulge my interest on a daily basis!
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
Exploration.
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
The Terminator, Star Wars, Stargate
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
(Examples include but are not limited to Political, Pirates, Military, Mercenaries, Rebellion, Explorers, Business, Law Enforcement, Survival etc)
I would like Business. Traveling to different planets and systems to make or break deals for a check sounds fun to me.
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
Pg13 to R
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Aarakocra, Male, Fighter, Pilot
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
Ibbrr was born on a mostly island planet that served as a beautiful vacation spot as well as it served as a cartel hub. Qulv(cool-v) has one law: If Heresh 4 wants it, he takes it. Heresh 4 is the planets infamous gang leader, a nine-foot-tall warforged with an addiction to ship fuel and a railgun on his right arm. Thankfully though, Heresh 4 has lacked the means of traveling the planet entirely and asserting his dominance, Qulv has horrible storms, so a great majority of the planet remains a hot spot for those who don't want anything to do with him. Ibbrr was not old enough to know all of that. One night, Ibbrr was riding the waves of his wind board and came across one of Heresh 4's oil rigs. Unfortunately for him, the Aarkocra's are quite favored amongst cartels, as they can fly under almost any radar. He was swiftly captured and made a slave the following morning. His first job, granted he wanted to live, was to siphon ship fuel from a neighboring island for Heresh 4's ships and addiction. Ibbrr was also given a collar to make sure he didn't leave the planet. Ibbrr did his job, and then some. Heresh 4 was so impressed that a few years of servitude Ibbrr was named a loyal servant and his collar was removed. Ibbrr waited another three years before he decided to do anything rash, and by this point, Heresh 4 had taken over a fourth of Qulv. Soon after, some off-planet authorities had come to Qulv to apprehend Heresh 4. Ibbrr, knowing where he was, revealed Heresh 4 without a second thought, and the warforged was taken off-planet. He had unexpectedly became the leader of Heresh 4's cartel for a bit, but instead of crime, he had offered off-worlders key vacation points and some fuel until he decided to leave it all together and live on a sandbar. To this day, he makes it a living of being a navigator. Sometimes going off world to give ships directions for a small sum.
7) Tell me a bit about your gaming history, keep it short and sweet.
I mainly play mmo's and racing games. I discovered D&D podcasts a little over a year ago and started playing pbp a few months ago.
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
I like a good balance of the three, but feel roleplay is where D&D really shines.
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
Firefly - the Old West feel, the good guy criminals and the clever banter are awesome.
Battlestar Galactica - for the grounded, very human story, the constant sense of pressure and dread and the protagonists still fighting to do the right thing even with nearly the entire human race dead.
Doctor Who - the incredible scope of places, times and alien races explored is always a little mind-blowing and every iteration of the Doctor is a caring, compassionate badass.
Honorary mentions to Farscape, Cowboy Bepop, The Fifth Element, Altered Carbon and probably a whole slew of others. :)
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
I like the idea of working on the edge of civilization, perhaps former Coalition or Hegemony and now disgraced or on the run for some reason. The group of ragtag misfits coming together to protect each other is always fun.
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
Probably R, not for gratuitous gore and sex but just the freedom of exploring deep concepts and situations that PG-13 tends to shy away from.
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
I always have about 25 different characters in my head waiting to be played. :D One that I’ve had on the back burner for a while is a magical researcher trapped in a mechanical or magical body. Here, the Vect sound really cool. I’m still on the fence over a class, but likely 1 Rogue/ 1 Channeler (or Fighter)/ X Wizard (School of Lore).
If anyone has build advice, the concept is a body designed for combat but instead inhabited by the mind or souls of an engineer/researcher/scholar type, a walking computer with a huge array of skills and expertise backed up by a versatile array of spells.
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
SOMA, they called me, though I believe that may have been a code name or perhaps the model of my current body. I believe I was not always called this. I have...knowledge, memories perhaps, of a place called Earth. I do not know where it is. I do not know how long ago I was there, or even if I truly was. I know that it was the middle of the 21st century in Earth’s Common Era. I know that there was attempt to freeze humans for a journey to another system. I know their history, their culture but cannot connect to my place in it.
I do know, however, that I awoke nearly 10 years ago in the cargo hold of a musty, dilapidated freighter, surrounded by half-completed Vect that I look nothing like and that were being built, dismantled or possibly stolen by the group of Tower affiliates who woke (activated? resurrected?) me and immediately ordered me to stop the raiders attacking them by any means necessary. I discovered that not only was I able to stand toe-to-adamantine-toe with battle-hardened mercenaries, I was able to kill them. Easily. Imagine my surprise. Imagine my disgust. I have yet to discover what that ship was intended for. Only the pilot survived the assault and refused to speak anything of their mission. We bonded over the weeks as we limped to the nearest Maw for repairs. She told a bit about the ‘Verse, about the strange races, the wonders of magic. She suggested that my body appeared to be Vect and that I could probably blend in with them at most any port.
During the week of repairs to the ship, I never set foot in it. I walked the Maw, asked questions, read texts, connected to data terminals. I discovered a knack for magic. I learned much, but wanted more answers. I determined to ask the young pilot to join me, to discover who I am, what I can do. She, and the ship, were already gone. So I search. I search for her, for the ship, for my past. I’ve visited libraries and databases on a dozen planets. I’ve spoken to the Temple of the Chosen and was told they could not help. I’ve attempted contact with the Shadow Coalition and am still not certain it truly exists. I’ve been to the doors of the Tower itself and was refused entry. Now, I search for a purpose, a cause and anything that might eventually lead to answers.

Been playing D&D off and on since 2nd edition, with a few other systems in between, particularly RIFTS and Savage Worlds. I’ve been out of the tabletop scene for a few years but play most any big RPG that comes along on the PC or mobile, as well as listening to a couple different D&D podcasts.
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
Role-Playing/Combat
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
Firefly, Star Wars end of 2-6+Rogue One, Dark Matter
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
I would fly anything to go along with the group, rogue traders sounds really fun, the less rules over us, the better.
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
PG-13 to R
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Cap. Roland, Human, Male, Bard, Captain.
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory
Anyone who has been with Roland will know he was once a solider. A civil war, a galactic conflict, or something else entirely, Roland never reveals too much. Whatever conflict it had been, they had lost. In the final days of the war he and part of his men snatched up a ship and abandoned the already lost cause. The crew slowly broke apart as casualties mounted and the other men of his unit settled down.Traveling the systems he continues to search for those of abilities to fill the losses he has sustained, fighting a war that has long since ended. (Stole a little of Mel from firefly, figures it sets us up a ship, a reason to be together, and minor other crews jobs if that seems fair at the dm's discretion, hope to see you on the frontier.

Several years and campaigns of experience under my belt in RP.
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
In IRL games, I like the thrill of combat. In PbP games, I like how you can slow down more and really think about what you, so I prefer RP in that format. However, in a space-faring game like this one, nothing equals the wonder of discovering new planets and unique flora and fauna. So, all in all, in this game, I would have to put exploration first, RP second, and Combat third.
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
The Twilight Zone, Star Wars(Empire Strikes Back), and Star Trek
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
Pirates or Mercs
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
PG-13/R
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Doume, male Nautilid fighter, Space Marine in training, fighter pilot.
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
I had a huge backstory written out, but then my stupid computer decided to go on the fritz, shutting itself down and losing all of my carefully written backstory. I'm just going to post a basic outline, instead of going through the trouble of writing out the entire backstory again.
Does crime thing and gets caught. Gets thrown in tank in prison ship, guarded by Space Marines. Told that there is a high priority criminal with them, and that's the reason there are the Marines
Ship attacked, space pirate-y looking people invade, start shooting stuff. His tank is hit, and the lock shorts out. Can't leave though, since has no suit on and would suffocate.
Nautilid Space Marine backs up against his tank, he reaches out and pulls it in, then pulls its blaster out of its hands and shoots it. Puts on suit and runs toward escape pods.
Escape pods are gone, runs into other prisoner who is in same predicament. Prisoner thinks he is Space Marine, but Doume recognizes the prisoner as Lucky, his Vect accomplice in the crime that they got thrown in here for. He explains that it's him, and Lucky believes him.
Another Vect points a blaster at him, not realizing that he's a prisoner. The Vect is a strange one, with a red and black paint job and pentacles painted on its frame. Lucky explains that Doume is a prisoner, and the Vect lowers the gun.
Lucky explains that the Vect is Unit 666, the high priority criminal talked about earlier. She let him and many others out while she was escaping. The invaders are the crew of her ship, the Balor. She says that they can escape on her ship, since there are bound to be vacancies, after they attacked a bunch of highly trained soldiers.
They get into the ship and begin to escape, and Doume is shoved into a fighter before he knows what's going on. A bunch of other fighters fly at him, and he attempts to stay alive, and actually ends up shooting a few down using the all-powerful ability of beginner's luck
They fly off into the... lack of a sunset since they're in space, and Doume ends up keeping the position of fighter pilot. They do space pirate stuff for a while, but get separated when Doume is shot down. He crash lands on an inhabited planet not too far from a city, and heads to the city. He assumes that he is presumed dead by the crew, and lives in the city, until [whatever the heck the thing that kicks off the campaign] happens.
The end bit is flexible, depending on how the campaign starts.
7) Tell me a bit about your gaming history, keep it short and sweet.
I started with 1E a few years back, and started 5E and PbP about a year ago. I also recently started DMing.
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
It’s so difficult to choose! I enjoy a good balance if I’m being honest, but if I was forced to pick... then I suppose it would have to be the Role-playing aspect. It’s cool to see my character grow as an individual!
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
The Martian, Interstellar, and Star Trek..? If I’m being honest though, I prefer reading or playing Sc-Fi.
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
It would be awesome if I could play a sort of Political/Survival/Exploration that forces the characters to grow closer together and for each to be confronted with themselves.
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
PG-13/R
5) Tell me about your Character
Ev’rald Rouge (AKA Emerald), a male bard who insists that he is a certified medic/therapist.
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
Ev’rald was born the eldest of three, and into a family of poverty. With his parents rarely home, he had no other choice but to watch and entertain his twin siblings. At the age of 12, his musicality drew the interest of someone who he would soon refer to and know as, “The Sapphire Galaxy”. Taking in his family situation, Sapphire waited until his parents returned and offered them an incredible amount of money for him, to which they eagerly took in order to “feed his siblings”. He did not seem bothered by this though, having expected it of his parents and wanting them to take it on the hopes of his siblings being well fed. (But he would not be surprised if they sold them later)
After purchased, Sapphire took him off planet and to a brothel ship that she owned, known as “The Siren’s Call”. And raised him as her own. She would not bring him into the type of service that she provided however, and merely nurtured and hone his musical talent. On a new ship, filled with many who would help raise him and play with him, he never faced another unpleasant day and was never starved. His days, although filled with unorthodox classes, granted him a new sense of life and purpose and was filled with food, riches, and laughter.
As he grew older, he would perform for patrons of the ship, and later he would do so privately. He learned that many were willing to pay for not just his music, art, and entertainment, but also simply for the simple pleasure of his company. He found that they would simply wish for him to play his music for their ears only, and/or to just talk, or just sit in silence. It was therapeutic for them, he would not only heal physical wounds, but those on their minds and/or hearts. And he was happy to provide it... for the right price.
One of his regulars though, a big named Politician from a planet that the ship would visit frequently, offered him a life of riches and nobility where he would no longer have to work another day - so long as he married him. Ev’rald, thinking about the amount of money and the idea of never working again, recklessly accepted, and moved to the planet. As promised, he led an extravagant lifestyle of wealth and popularity, but he quickly found that the politician, a Prince of sort, was incredibly possessive. Ev’rald learned that he was not leading the life he thought he would lead, and found himself like a bird in a cage. He felt suffocated, the Prince was a very jealous man, and would always question or crush anyone Ev’rald grew close with or performed for. He yearned for freedom, and not even a year later and on their wedding day, Ev’rald fled the palace and the planet.
Now, Ev’rald is wanted alive in a specific quadrant of the galaxy for a very handsome sum of money. Due to this reason, he refuses to return home, but still keeps in contact with the Siren’s Call. He also kept in contact with his blood siblings, who did indeed get sold for money. His sister became a part of an infamous group of Treasure Hunters, and his brother a part of Space Pirates. So far, he has been getting by, but is attempting to make his way onto a ship to better hide himself.

I’m actually fairly new to DnD! But I used to do pbp rps when I was younger. I watch Critical Role though, and since then I’ve wanted to do DnD.
Thank you for taking your time to read through all of this!
just a couple more days of requiring to make sure everyone that is interested has a chance to apply, If I don't have another application in the next 2 days I will close the and choose from the posts here!
Hi! I present not one, but two character ideas to recruit to the crew! ;)
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D?
Role-Playing, Exploration, Combat.
I enjoy every part of it obviously but that would be my preferences...
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
Star Wars / Star Trek The Next Generation / Battlestar Galactica ( loved the old one but the 2004 remake is what I am speaking of here)
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
Rebellion, Explorers, Survival, Pirates!!
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
+16. Not for explicit violence or sex, but for the mature and profound content of it.
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
Here are the two options:
1.- Human, male, bard, captain, Shean-Tuck Tilard ( I know.. couldn't help myself XD )
Shean-Tuck's family had a long history of seaferars. He was only 7 when the his father was appointed to a diplomatic position with the elves, and he was inmediatly captivated by them. Their manerismm, the histories they told about travel and exploration, and alien worlds. He knew he must be on a space ship someday. From that moment on, he devoted his life to prepare himself to that and only goal. He first learnt elvish, so he can study and learn from their new allies. When he was but fifteen years old, he left his home and enlist on a merchant ship. He must learn how to navigate a ship, how to use maps and the trade tools. He knew that in the space seems would be different than at sea, but he also knew that the knowledge and experience will be really useful to him in the future. six years later he enter the Royal College of Knowledge and Enlightement, thanks to his father's contacts, who was happy to have his son back at a more decent enviorement. There he learnt history, religion, almost every academic knowledge that could be useful to him in the future. But most of all, from the ship to the collegue, he learnt how to lead and inspire people.
Now, without his fathers knowledge, he applies to none other position as Captain of the vessel that will be out of the planet for the very first time. He hopes that he can beat the other contenders with his preaparation, knowledge and gift for peoples.

2.- Vedaken, male, cleric ( life domain). Nevun Tazaz
Yes Sir, I know that my race is not a common seeing among this places. I came to study this society almost 30 years ago. ¿Why do I wish to join your expedition? ¿Why shouldn't I? The opportunity to explore places that hadn't been explored before, to meet and discover new societies, aaah the complexity of their social interactions, their history, and their physologies, their defenses against diseases, their natural remedies for injuries and diseases. Do you know the miriad of possibilities that knowledge could offer to us?. Hmm? yes yes sorry, I got carried on sometimes. Yes, yes of course I am an acknowledge physician and medic. Here are my references, I am capable of treat any injury for all the known races, know recepies for the most common bewerages for most common diseases. I will take good care of your crew Sir, I will not fail you.

1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D? Combat/Exploration.
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time? Stargate: exploring places trough the stargate battlestar galatica: survival on a spaceship i love the little snippets when you get to see turrets on spacheship battle and fighters flying out the ship cruising in space Fringe: mad scienctist to make thing true what impossible
3) What type of game do you want to play the most? Pirates/Mercenaries/Survival/Crafting
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated? no idea i always ignored those, sometimes to my own detrement (whatever the one where cursing/profanity allowed)
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.) Warforged or customizable robot/android, do they have a gender? o.O, wizard, engineer/gadgeteer)
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!) Forger master and creator loved tinkering on ships/robots/gadgets. Forger was one of her masterpieces that was eager to learn and got it master ambition. Sadly she had a fragile bodly that couldn't withstand warping so she was stuck in her own solar system. Eventually Forger creator would die of old age and she would ask her creation to explore the world to get inspered into making new invention, to do what she couldn't do.
Few years after the master death the warforge went exploring with the master personal ship called Daisy:

P: The Traveling Ward: Natural Napalm Enthusiast. (AURYN: The Hunt For The Last Unicorn.)
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D? I'd say I love an equal mix of role-play and exploration. Combat is a given, but I love seeing how characters develop and interact with each other and the world around them.
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time? Alien, Farscape, and Star Trek Deep Space Nine (though, I'm a huge fan of Star Trek as a whole). Honorable mentions go to Predator and Space Balls.
3) What type of game do you want to play the most? Space explorers, law enforcement, or pirates sound like fun ideas!
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated? PG-13 - R?
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.) Vaughn, a male Half-Elf (Drow) Trickery Domain Cleric. I'm thinking Engineer or "Medic". Vaughn is intrigued by starships and the engineering side of things, but with his gift for healing, he can be called on to serve as a medic.
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
Vaughn is the son of a notorious pirate "king" named Captain Charon Blackheart and Deirdre Pheros, the daughter of a high ranking military official, two star-crossed lovers whose relationship was doomed from the start. The two would court in secret, and when Deirdre discovered she was with child, the two made plans to run away together; Blackheart even swore to give up his pirating ways for his beloved. However, it wasn't mean to be. An attack on Blackheart's ship, the Tartarus, by Dierdre's furious father dashed those dreams... Deirdre surrendered peacefully, unwilling to further raise her father's ire and cause a massacre. With a heavy heart, she left her beloved and their future together behind, and the pirate lord fled deeper into space.
Deirdre's father, an admiral by the name of Augustus Pheros, managed to sate the media with a heroic tale of how he saved his only child from the clutches of villainous pirate who meant to kidnap her. Though, Pheros still feared a scandal. He kept Deirdre away from the eyes of the public, keeping her locked away until she gave birth to Vaughn. Unwilling to have his daughter's "mistake" destroy their family name, the admiral had Vaughn sent away soon after he was born. Fortunately, the man tasked with the job was a friend of Vaughn's mother and managed to sneak the infant to his mother for one last farewell before sneaking the him off world.
Vaughn was raised in a small colony off world by a man named Grug, an old Half-Orc who worked as a mechanic in the colony. Growing up, Vaughn's curiosity was insatiable; he would read every book he could find and take apart small machines to see how they worked only to try to reassemble them... with a little help from Grug, who Vaughn affectionately referred to as his "Grandpa Grug". The young Half-Drow also had a penchant for mischief and trickery. Like his pirate father, Vaughn had been blessed by the God of Thieves, and discovered a talent for deception and illusory magic. He would use these gifts to his advantage, taking on different personas to play pranks or con people out of their money. Despite his affinity for petty crime and rebellion, Vaughn still had an altruistic side. He would donate some of his stolen money to help starving or sick orphans and street urchins, and it wasn't long before he discovered he had a gift for healing magic as well, which he used to help the unfortunate children as well.
Unfortunately, Vaughn managed to draw the ire of one of the criminal gangs. Fearing retaliation or putting his caretaker in danger, he fled for his life before they could discover him. He stowed away on a cargo ship heading off world, where he managed to ingratiate himself with the captain and crew with his magic. He spent a few years on the cargo ship. He missed his caretaker, but he learned about starships and developed an affinity for technical work. Being a scrawny teen on a ship where it was often necessary to do repairs in small crawlspaces had its boons; Vaughn got to learn first hand about the inner workings of the ships he'd become so enamored with and develop his skills as a novice engineer.
The young Half-Drow has been hopping ships and traveling the galaxy, offering his skills as a healer and a novice engineer in exchange for room and board. Vaughn is mostly interested in making repairs and maintaining the ship. He enjoys taking broken things, fixing them, and seeing them working again because of his hard work (or the help of his Mending cantrip). It's something he learned to do from his caretaker and got to apply and develop it further on the ships he traveled on as sort of an apprentice to their own engineers. He likes tinkering with things too, like gutting old machines and using the parts to build small things, but it's more of a hobby or a side project. Vaughn carries a locket left to him from his mother, and hopes to one day reunite with his parents. Just don't feed him or you'll never get rid of him because he's secretly just an annoying cat in a Half-Elf body.
Vaughn's favorite persona when conning marks is elderly priest named Father Bartrand. Another favorite of his is a beautiful Elven woman, who plays the damsel in distress before robbing her savior blind.
7) Tell me a bit about your gaming history, keep it short and sweet. I'm new to DnD, but I've been doing PbP RPs and art-based RPs off and on for years. I've been curious about learning the ropes and getting into the game after getting hooked on podcasts and shows like The Adventure Zone and Critical Role.
I hope it's not too late to throw my app in! I've had 20 different ideas rattling around and not enough time to sit down and actually flesh one out until now.
1) What is your favorite part of Gameplay for a D&D? Exploration.
2) What are your favorite 3 Sci-Fi shows / Movies of all time?
Startate SG-1, Men in Black, Galaxy Quest
3) What type of game do you want to play the most?
Exploring Mercenaries. Doing any job they can find, but looking for something more.
4) If this game was a movie, what would you want it to be rated?
Rated PG-13 or R, where it seems like a real world and not some kid’s show.
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Swiftstride Shifter, Male, Rogue, Pilot/Fighter Pilot, named Twitch because he’s so nervous all the time.
6) Tell me about your Characters Backstory (sky's the limit, invent plants or ships This is a game I want the players to be part of the world building!)
Twitch grew up kicked around by anyone who thought they were better than him, so he learned to avoid the spotlight, take without being seen. He stole ships, piloting them to different planets, trying to keep a distance between himself and those who wanted him dead. This led to him being a very nervous individual, and people gave him the nickname Twitch. Recently a captain of one of the ships he stole has put quite a hefty bounty on him being taken alive. Apparently he was angry when he found out his prize ship had been sold for scraps. His name is Captain John Galdoget. Joining up with other people, which is a terrifying experience for Twitch, doesn’t sound as bad anymore.

Fell in love with d&d last year after listening to The Adventure Zone. Got hooked on Critical Role too, and Acq. Inc. Started playing this year, and have been loving it.

Starwars, alien, starship troopers

7) Tell me a bit about your gaming history, keep it short and sweet.

The end bit is flexible, depending on how the campaign starts.
7) Tell me a bit about your gaming history, keep it short and sweet.
I started with 1E a few years back, and started 5E and PbP about a year ago. I also recently started DMing.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."

Forger master and creator loved tinkering on ships/robots/gadgets.

DM:
PG-13 - R?
5) Tell me about your Character (ie Race, gender, class, ship role etc.)
Vaughn, a male Half-Elf (Drow) Trickery Domain Cleric.
