"Now, I see you single-handedly defeated a lone kobold wearing... mmh, looks like old boots encrusted with mud , ain't it ? And a cloak, also crusty with mud. Hold your rightful wrath for a minute, valiant warriors and warriorettes, and let's see if Mister Kobold here has a story to tell us before you finish him off, shall we ?"
The voice came from behind Roxy, as she and the rest of the war caravan rushed toward the huddled shape of the kobold, now lying face down on the dirt road they were all following. As the lady monk turned to face her interlocutor, she found herself face-to-face with a dashing young man wearing a long blue coat embroidered with silver filigrane, his finely carved features only marred by two small scars sliding from his right eyebrow down along his high and delicately defined cheekbone, the scar tissue showing an old wound reminiscent of claw marks, that must have caught him right beneath his eye socket, narrowly missing the eye itself: it was in fact still a very much functioning eye, of a limpid blue-green hue, that was now fixed on Roxy and sparkling with amused irony.
"So, you see this lone , single kobold walking ahead of a full war party, smack in the middle of a caravan track, and you presume he's about to murder everyone, is that it ?" he gives Roxy a disarming lopsided grin and shrugs his shoulders, then points at the creature still lying on the ground with an arrow sticking from its shoulder. "Well, it looks like the war is finally won. Well done, recruit !"
The man's casual arrogance and light-hearted dismissivenes strikes Roxy as something she remembers from other high-borns she'd had the misfortune to encounter on her travels: here was somebody that was raised and pampered on the right side of the castle walls, and probably never had to do a real day's work in his life, much less face contradiction to whatever views he'd profer for the whole world to hear. What was this noble's son doing in the midst of their gang of soldiers ? Before she could linger any longer on this thought, the young mage - the peculiar style of his attire and lack of armor or weapons clearly indicating he was not only well-to-do but also versed in the Arts - gave her another dazzling smile (and she'd be damned if the lout didn't actually wink at her !) and introduced himself with a little flourish of his long, embroidered sleeves:
" Allow me to offer you my deepest apologies for my presumptuous interruption, Miss. I do realize we're at war, after all. Chamberlain, Aaren Chamberlain is the name. Magic is the game, as is, I'm quite sure, painfully obvious for someone as well-traveled as you seem to be. At your service !" As he speaks, the apprentice mage sizes Roxy up from head to toe with an approving, leisurely brazenness.
He then looks around the assembled group and gives each in turn a courteous nod and here a little smile, there a quick curtsy, before stretching like a house cat and looking first at the prostrate kobold, then up and around at the sides of the road and tops of the surrounding trees and other overhangs.
"Well, as I made abundantly clear, this wretched creature should be of no direct concern to us, but we may want to verify if it doesn't have any friends hidden somewhere near, as a matter of fact..." the mage scratches his head, "... or even enemies in pursuit ? One never knows..." After making sure their surroundings are safe he continues, as if talking to himself: " After all, this is highly unusual behaviour for a kobold: cloaks and boots, indeed... ! " Poking at the little reptilian fiend with the tip of his own silver-pointed shoe, he inquires: " Hello there ? Are you alive, my little scaley fellow ? Any of your, erhm... friends about ? Come on now, try and be nice and I'll see about getting that nasty shoulder wound tended to. And maybe even give you some porcupine porridge. Or whatnot."
He turns towards young Yuno who's standing a few feet away, watching him with a quizzical and somewhat stunned expression, and whispers conspiratorially: " Would you believe I heard they positively adore porcupine porridge ? Strange lot, this, to be sure."
** OOC: while he's doing his little aristocratic spiel, Aaren keeps all his senses in alert and is scanning the surroundings of the road carefully to detect any sign of an ambush. If the kobold is conscious but doesn't seem to answer his question, he will switch from Common to Draconic and reiterate. He'll also have a look at the kobold's wound and try to give the creature first aid, providing the group doesn't find itself under attack. **

She continues to keep a watchful eye for any other threats.
Roxy glares at the highborn and raises an eyebrow. "I didnt assume he was a murder. But MOST innocent people do not sprint away instantly when confronted by a war convoy. Secondly. Yuno watched as the new stranger showed up and started going off on a rant. She stopped listening and began day dreaming about something. You can tell because she has a wide grin on her face. Whatever she's thinking of must be happy and enjoyable.
Koreon, striding past the Kobold without looking, or paying attention to the drama going on, scans all around, muttering "Kobolds always travel in packs. There are more around I'm sure"
Roxy, giving the mage a slight glare with her bright violet eyes, flicks a loose piece of hair over her shoulder, revealing pointed half elf like ears that however look different than most elves. She takes a deep breath and ignores his flamboyant attitude before she turns her attention back to the downed kobold and moves closer, kneeling to grab it by the shoulder and move it into a forward sitting position, looking to see if the arrow pierced entirely through its shoulder. Mumbling softly to herself, she keeps her free hand alertly on one of her scimitars.

The kobold on the ground is certainly unconscious, and both Aaren and Roxy can see that the arrow went clean through the kobold's shoulder. Nothing vital was hit, though the blood pouring out is certainly significant. With some bandages and a little medicinal know-how, the wound is bandaged, stopping the blood flow. It is very unlikely that this kobold will ever be able to use that particular arm again though.
The rest of the caravan appears to be kobold free, though Yuno picks up on the sound of something in the far distance.

Yuno licks her lips and says, "Shh... I hear something in the distance... really far." Her voice seems to be a little different than normal, like she has a sore throat or something. Yuno focuses on the sound. Can she figure out what it is or where it's going?

War Caravan
Koreon and Roxy manage to make out what Yuno can't quite figure out. Shouts both in draconic and in common seem to be coming from around the next bend in the path. A small speck flies upward as a bolt of fire shoots toward it, indicating that something is happening up ahead. Commander Edgren lets out an annoyed "tsk" and points at each of you. "You! You! You! You! And You!" She throws the last one at another human wearing chain mail who had been standing idly by. "Grab a horse and get out there! Take mine if you have to!" She hops off her mount before facing the rest of the war caravan. "There's some trouble up ahead, so everyone! Battle stations!"
