With the situation resolved, you return to the Sea Ward and the Cassalanter Villa. It is very late when you arrive, but the Villa ballroom is still filled with the attendants of Aria's concert from earlier in the night. A local bard is on the stage, playing jovial tunes on the harpsichord, though it looks like most of the crowd is growing antsy, and the songs are nearly drowned out by their chatter.
Captain Staget can be seen standing off to the side of the stage, in conversation with Aria Cavatina.
Jove turns to the others and says, "you guys can go tell the Captain that we solved the problem, for now at least. I certainly hope no other pages of this book summon demons! I have some important business to attend to." Jove goes out to look out a window and rustles through his pouch for his stamp. Looking up at the sky, he stamps himself in various places all over.
Harmony was glad as they had made it back to the Villa and seeing the bard playing on the stage. She didn't like how the crowd was all antsy and chattering instead of dancing to and enjoying the jovial music. She could see the Captain talking with Aria, smiling. Then she heard as Jove said that they can go tell the Captain about how they solved the problem while he has other business to attend to, nodding back. So she skipped her way over to the Captain and Aria, happy as could be. "We're back! We closed the portal and took care of the problem! All should be well now, no more devils coming out ever again!" Harmony cheerfully said with a big grin, eager to have some fun again.
Aria smiles brightly, and Captain Staget breaks into a grin himself. "I am glad you were able to procure the holy water that you needed. You have done the city of Waterdeep a great service today, and I will put in a good word for you with the City Watch. Unfortunately, any monetary reward I could have granted you for your help went toward that purchase, but, I was able to convince the Cassalanter family to pitch in with some payment of their own," he says. He motions to one of his guards, who opens a large box to the side of the stage. Inside are five pairs of marvelous winter boots. The bottoms are coated with a magical layer of frost and spikes to make traversing through wintry terrain easier. "These are Boots of the Winterland," he explains. "They are magical, and will prove quite useful should you ever find yourself dealing with the cold. The crowd is a little restless, as you can see. It is time to let them return to the city, but first, Aria here has been asking specifically for you, Harmony."
Aria, now fully healed, holds her hand toward her fellow bard, motioning toward the stage. "I'd like to reward their patience by redeeming myself, but...I would like you to perform with me the song you helped me finish writing, Golden Wings. Will you help me make this Midwinter Gala one worth remembering?" she asks Harmony.
OOC: Boots of the Winterland have been added to each character's inventory. They will require attunement during a short rest to gain their benefits, but because Captain Staget and the Cassalanters can fill you in on their properties, you do not need to identify them.
The Boots of the Winterland are snug and feel quite warm. While you wear them, you gain the following benefits:
You have resistance to cold damage.
You ignore difficult terrain created by ice or snow.
You can tolerate temperatures as low as -50 degrees Fahrenheit without any additional protection. If you wear heavy clothes, you can tolerate temperatures as low as -100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Harmony was happy to hear that they did a great service and how he'll put a good word for them with the City Watch. It seemed that any money he had ended up going towards getting the holy water but was able to convince the Cassalanters to pitch in with something. She watched the box open, surprised to see all those boots and amazed as the Captain spoke about the boots and how useful they will be. "It was nothing, anything that we could do to help. Oh, really? Cool, this could be useful. Thanks!" Harmony said as she took her pair before hearing that Aria had been specifically asking for her. She saw Aria hold out her hand and motion toward the stage as she wanted to reward them with redeeming herself before asking for her to perform with her the song she helped her finish writing. Harmony didn't hesitate at all when Aria asked her to help make this Midwinter Gala one worth remembering, nodding and quickly taking the other bard's hand. "Of course! Anything for you and how could I possibly say no to this once in a lifetime opportunity? Let us go sing and have fun!" she said back to Aria with the biggest smile, happily going towards the stage with her.
Abraxas thanks the Cassalanters for the boots. They seem kind, he supposes. He still has questions for them, but asking now doesn't seem polite. They could use watching, he thinks. Jove seems happy and Harmony goes off with Aria. While they sing, he'll write a long entry in his journal, recording all the events since they met in the coach.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Harmony Performance: 26
The local bard's song on the harpsichord draws to a close, and the crowd's chatter falls to a murmur as the other bards step onto the dais.
"It's Aria!"
"Who is that tiefling?"
"Aria's going to sing again?"
Without an explanation to the crowd, Aria nods to Harmony and places her song on a stand in front of them. As they begin to sing, Aria takes Harmony's hand, as the same pleasant glow stretches into a rosy pink surrounding Harmony, and together they perform Golden Wings, with Harmony's written end.
Like a candle, I burn In the glow of your radiance Like a plucked string, I learn The bright hum of your resonance
Like a pilgrim, I bow Humbled by your divinity Will you come to me now? I send you my prayer, my plea
Lifted voice, lowered eyes Prostrated here on hands and knees An angel so kind and wise With wings of gold, fly with ease
At the song's completion, a dazzling display of golden sparks fills the air above the bards. A celestial gold pseudodragon forms from the sparks, soaring, and lands on Aria's shoulder. "It worked, Harmony!" she shouts through joyful tears. The crowd erupts into a standing ovation, some in tears themselves from the performance. Aria and Harmony take their bows, aasimar and tiefling in wonderful unison, signifying a perfect end to the Midwinter Gala.
OOC: Your respectful and appropriate conduct throughout the adventure has earned you Respect of the City Watch. This boon will grant you Advantage on one ability check to avoid penalty when caught committing a crime that doesn't involve murder, theft, or assault.
In addition, each character has gained 450 XP for completing Aria's song successfully. Harmony has been given a copy of the song, which will allow her to summon a pseudodragon of her own.
Congratulations on completing Winter's Splendor. Please include one final post as an epilogue, to wrap up your character's time at the Midwinter Gala and tell what is next in store for them.
Harmony sang with Aria, doing her best not to let her or the audience down with their performance. She watched the golden sparks, very surprised to see the pseudodragon appear as Aria said that it had worked. Harmony nodded back, smiling so brightly and glad to have helped her with this song. She took a bow with Aria, hearing the cheers and ovation from the crowds as she truly lived for this. After that, Harmony spent the rest of her time having the most fun possible during the Midwinter Gala. Thanks to having performed with Aria, she gained some new fans, performing small songs to delight the townspeople before it finally came to an end. From the beginning; she has had a lot of fun, making some new friends and new fans along the way. She even got to meet with and sing alongside the Aria Cavatina, having helped finish writing the other's song. Even though there was some trouble and problems that they had to fix, she couldn't have asked for a better time. When the festivities came to a close, Harmony said goodbye to Abraxas, Jove, Halsen, and Balin as she wished them good luck with their travels and hoped to meet them again. But before she left, she did make sure to get her cloak back from Abraxas before putting it on and then heading out of Waterdeep. She plans to make her way through Faerun and the other lands spreading hope and happiness to all with her songs, wishing for peace and helping those in need no matter what. Harmony will make a name for herself just like Aria Cavatina, wanting to do things her way and have lots of fun along the journey, not letting anything or anyone try to stop her.
Halsen claps vigorously at the wonderful music and how beautiful the music and its artisans are an example of Sune’s beautiful hand. The extraordinary way his teammates banded together to strike down at ugliness as it tried to overcome beauty. He quietly bows to each of his companions and steps into the shadows, pleased to serve his goddess and pleased to serve with such outstanding people.

Abraxas is happy to return Harmony's cloak. He wishes all his friends well, having recorded their adventures in his journal. Haunting the libraries of Waterdeep, he continues to seek knowledge and adventures to fun that search.
Jove walks back to the group and congratulates Harmony on her amazing performance. "That was absolutely fantastic! The stars shook in the final verse when the fireworks went off. Many have tried, but only a few can strike fear into the stars like that."
"That was quite the adventure. I am pretty worn out. I'm glad we got to experience it all before our demise. The stars shine brightly on the righteous few. I have something for you all."
Jove reaches into his robe and pull out the same large spellcasting focus he showed to the child, a black sphere with an edge cut off. He shakes it, chants, and four balls of light emerge from it and swirl about. The lights cascade around his body, lighting up a few of his markings, and then disperse. One of each travels into the chest of each of you, dissolving into your form.
"Thank you all for the adventure. If you ever feel alone, you can look up and know the stars shine brightly onto you. Now, back to my normal order of business, eating. I may take the young celebrities out for pastries. Maybe some kindheartedness will ease them of the trouble they caused."
He bids you all farewell and goes off into the crowd.
OOC: This was my first PBP adventure. During this thing, I was in the process of moving states away from my hometown to a new job. This is my second week here, and I am loving it. Thank you all for the great time, and especially thank you DM, as they never get enough praise. You are all great.
