Arkhan, Beetle, Syna:
Empowered by a sudden rush of strength, Beetle charges from the treeline. Sword in hand he calls to Tyr to redeem himself as he bares down onto the entangled dragon. "Tyr please guide my blade once again against this enormous foe..." His stomping feet grow louder as he closes the distance, before stopping abruptly as Talon thrusts through the patchwork of vines.
Attack: 23 Damage: (12+4+7) = 23
The paladins call is answered as Tyrs power is revealed. Talon slicing easily through the dragons thick scales casting a handful onto the ground. A sudden blast of light fills the air as the maimed gods blessing is bestowed, burning the dragons eyes as it neglects to look away. Struggling against the vines, the beast becomes more agitated, snapping helplessly at the three well armoured men that surround it. Sharp green eyes lock with Beetles as he withdraws his sword, raising the magical glass staff in his free hand.
ROUND 9
Arkhan, Beetle, Syna:
1
Writhing with frustration, the dragon lashes out once more, somehow managing to free its claws enough to reach out at the companions. A storm of claws and teeth follows, as the wyrm tries desperately to get its revenge.
Dragon Attack Roll 1 (vs Beetle): 12 (..forgot the D/A - 17) Dragon Attack Roll 2 (vs Zyltris): 15 Dragon Attack Roll 3 (vs Arkhan): 13
Attack 2 Damage vs Zyltris: 8
Baring a row of teeth at Beetle, the dragon spins quickly on the spot, but is met by a strong and defiant fist to the head. Beaten away, it snaps in anger before raking a row of talons through the air. Spinning aside, Arkhan manages to avoid the blow, slipping into a roll as he reaches for his second handaxe. Spurred on by the successes of the others, Zyltris tries a similar move, but takes a heavy hit mid turn. He falls to the floor, crushed beneath a heavy green foot, which wastes no time in tightening its grip. Withdrawing its claw, the dragon presses down, carving through the elfs armour and revealing badly bloodied skin beneath.
Staggering to his feet, Zyltris coughs, before wiping a bloody trail from his mouth. Morningstar in both hands he stands ready, albeit slightly off balance.
The telltale sound of an arrow splits the air as Brots emerges from the treeline, bow in hand.
Brots Attack Roll: 27 (+Adv)
Wide of its mark. Frustrated, Brots searches for a better angle, edging further east to get a better shot.
Serak:
Arkhan, Beetle, Syna:
OOC: Any issues with positions let me know.... that's us up to Syna, Serak, Arkhan again!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Syna watches in horror as Zyltris is mauled, exactly as he feared could happen. Pulling up the last of his healing magic, he cast Cure Wounds on Zyltris.
Not looking back to see if the others are following him, Serak turns south. He runs toward the sounds of battle and spots the Dragon, bound by vines. Serak smiles and shouts, "Akular vishirak hakon!"
Movement: 5ft West, 30ft South
Action: Faerie Fire Target: Dragon(DisAdv Entangled)
His worst fears realised, Syna breathes a sigh of relief as Zyltris retakes his feet. The spattered blood on his face though are cause for concern. Stretching an arm out towards the elf, Syna slows his breathing and casts his last healing spell.
Healing: 9
Re-energised, Zyltris regains his balance, standing tall before the dragon once more. Lifting his morningstar, gingerly at first it feels a dead weight in his hands. Though not fully healed, he has enough strength to keep swinging.
OOC: Serak, I've tried everything I can, but wherever I put you you're short for your attack. Your spell has a range of 60ft, I think the 20ft of spell area has to be within that 60ft.... even if it was cast at the edge of the range you'd still only reach 80ft leaving you 5ft short
OOC:The range is 60ft, with a 20ft cube after that, making the range effectively 80ft. If Serak is standing at the southeast corner of the ruined building, count 5ft west and 60ft south. Originate the top right corner of the cube from the southwest corner of that tile. The cube should include the Dragon.
Edit: I'm squeezing literally every inch out of the range, but I'm sure I read I can target it that way. So long as one corner of the Cube originates within the 60ft.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: No idea what I was talking about earlier. I've obviously miscounted or something somewhere. I've got you in the right position (SE of the ruin).... but now I'm counting and getting 80ft including spell range. Sorry about that! You will indeed get half of the dragon, which is good enough in my book.
"Akular vi shirak hakon!" A friendly voice echoes down the road. Serak appears, running towards the battle at full speed, a victorious smile spread across his face.
Dragon Dexterity Save: 19 (D/A Entangled) Spell Save DC: 13
The bards spell lands directly in amongst the tangled vines, illuminating them in a dim blue light. However the light fails to extend any further, the dragon apparently impervious to such magic. Seraks smile disappears, turning int a slight frown at the failure.
Using Seraks appearance to his advantage, Arkhan draws his second axe mid spin. The dragonborns laughter ceases. Enough games. Slashing both blades at the dragons chest he roars out in deep throated draconic, "SI GEOU WHAIS WUX SIA DASTUDR!"
Handaxe 1Attack: 16 Handaxe 2 Attack: 17
In the commotion, the dragon writhes aside. It parries the first blow, and barely dodging the second. Flicking a long black snakelike tongue between its teeth, the dragon hisses angrily at the disrespect shown.
Strength regained, Zyltris manages to gather himself. Patiently waiting his time to strike, he feels a sudden rush of adrenaline course through his veins.
Zyltris Second Wind: 11
Feeling refreshed, he twirls his morningstar playfully between his fingers. With a roar he picks his moment, swing his morningstar like a bat at the dragons side.
Zyltris Attack Roll: 21 Damage: 5
The blow connects and Zyltris is sure for a moment that he heard a rib break in the creatures side. However the only real evidence of an attack is superficial. A dented green scale sits awkwardly on the dragons flank, battered and badly scratched. A small trickle of blood leaking from within. Pulling his weapon back, Zyltris swings it back onto his belt, before reaching for his axes.
OOC: Beetle! Back to you I'm afraid! On the plus side.... we're back to one map!
Rallied by Seraks sudden appearance, Beetle thrusts his longsword once more into the dragons side.
Attack: 19 Damage: (8 + 3 + 7) = 18
Talon bursts through the dragons scaly armour, releasing a burst of red from the beasts side. A flash of light follows, briefly blinding the beast as it roars in anger. Gathering itself, the dragon grumbles inaudibly in draconic, stomps a heavy foot in anger and rises up onto its rear legs.
ROUND 10
1
Dragon Strength Check: 7 Spell Save DC: 13
The dragon flaps its wings ,attempting to haul itself into the air against the tangle of vines wrapped around it. Dust, leaves and dead branches are kicked upwards, blown away by the immense force. The vines hold firm. Exhausted the dragon settles back to the ground, mustering an angry snap towards Beetle.
Brots Attack Roll: 27 Damage: 8
The dragon suddenly recoils in pain as an arrow plunges deep into its neck. A high pitched scream quickly turns into an angry, vengeful snarl as the beast seeks out the source of the attack. Brots standing quietly on the edge of the treeline locks eyes, gulps, turns away and instantly regrets his decision.
Serak: Waving his hand for Jelenneth and Dayereth to follow, Serak runs south, taking cover behind the tree. He again shouts, "Akular vi shirak hakon!"
Movement: 5ft East, 30ft South
Action: Faerie Fire Target: Dragon(DisAdv Entangled)
Next, the bard shouts to Beetle, "Tyr is with us, my friends!"
Bonus Action: Bardic Inspiration Target: Beetle
Reaction: Cutting Words Condition: Dragon makes its Strength Check vs Entanglement by 6 or less.

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
The dragon snaps its head around sharply as Syna calls out, the druid clearly achieving his attention. "I YIELD!" The words are clear. Its deep voice, strangely soft and humble, speaking in the common tongue. Finally ceasing its struggle, the dragon bows its head low, speaking calmly, "....I yield Elf. Enough blood has been spilled today and I have no further appetite for it." Crouching on all fours, the dragon lowers its bulking body, lying on the floor in submission, eyes constantly fixed on Synas as the others stand momentarily bewildered.
OOC: Serak, I'll keep your attack if you wish although I'll pause here for the moment. Not sure what Syna's planning lol
OCC: Might be a little 1E and not sure of the mythology of Dragons and True Names in the campaign, so going to play it a bit based on Greyhawk and fantasy mythology. Plus counting on reinforcements to arrive.
"Your NAME, Wyrm! I will have your True Name from you or your death will be swift in coming now."
Arkhan now makes eye contact with the dragon, "You think my kind is weak, but we evolution. Do not make a single false move. Or it is I who will end you.”
Arkhan is breathing deep calming his fury but holding his hand axes at the ready.
OOC: Serak, Arkhan and Beetle - I'll need to be clear whether you're both attacking the dragon at this point. As it stands he has accepted Synas submission request but the conversation can't really continue while we're still in combat.
Serak: Serak continues his spell unabated, not buying the Dragon's ruse.
The bard shouts, "It's lying! It literally lives for bloodshed! It's trying to outlast the vines!"
OOC: I know I originally advised running, but we're committed now. Every second we waste, the Entanglement Spell is losing Duration and the Dragon's Breath Weapon is Recharging.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Serak continues to close in on the companions, his voice carried through the air, "Tyr is with us, my friends!"
Bardic Inspiration Target: Beetle (Additional 1d6 to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw)
Nodding in agreement, Beetle raises his sword once more but the dragons sudden change of heart stops him in his tracks. The growling dragon now seems more placid and agreeable to a truce. It would be unjust to strike a yielding foe...
Dragon Dexterity Save: 17 (+D/A) Spell Save DC: 13
The dragon is cut off mid sentence as it is struck by another of Seraks spells. Its green scaly skin slowly turns a shade of blue, matching the vines beneath. The dim blue light glows stronger as Serak calls his warning to the others, "It's lying! It literally lives for bloodshed! It's trying to outlast the vines!" Beady black eyes snap to the north, narrowing as the bard takes cover behind a nearby tree, though it's demeanor is unchanged. Baring its teeth in an attempt at a smile, it turns its attention back to Syna.
OOC: So we're back to Arkhan and Beetle again. Up to you guys how you approach this. I'm carrying the round on as normal for the time being, lines of dialogue will have to wait for the PCs turns while we're still technically in combat.
