So you folks swim through the underwater passage and all come up safely on the other side. Still knee deep in the water you can see what was described earlier.
Thorum. As you make your way forward towards the shore to check out the symbols they start glowing a soft gold.
Some of it is Elvish and you can read it. Some of the symbols you don't recognize. I'm going to say Bel came with you too and he'll do an arcana check. 14
The parts that you can read, Thorum, talk about an elvish prince being granted favor from the gods and his army of 4 legged warriors.
Belailuin can tell that some of the symbols are magic and thinks that it's some kind of protection "I'm not sure how close we should get to the statue. Some of these symbols look like spells but I'm not positive what they do."
I will carefully approach the statute, watching the runes for a change in their color. If Thorum makes it to the statue I will inspect it for any switches or other items that could detactivate any traps
lol, yeah you guys start moving back and forth next to the shore, taking turns until you get a nice color pattern going. With a little music you could have a rave in the pool :) lol
Thorum you are able to make it to the pedestal with the runes remaining a golden color and check out the statue closer. Give me an investigate or perception check, whatever's best for you.
Thorum, upon closer inspection you see the statue is indeed a small elf made from gold. It's about 8 inches tall and has a bow slung over it's shoulder. The statue is holding 2 small cups. About the size of thimbles. You can't completely follow the mix of runes and actual elvish language but what you can make out is something about the "Balance of blood" and the calling of some kind of creatures for aid.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thorum, you cut your palm taking 1 dmg and drip blood into one of the cups.
As soon as the first drop falls into the cup the balance of the statue shifts. As is shift to the direction of the cup you dripped the blood into the runes on that side go black and crackling with electricity shoot out a bolt of lightning bolt causing 30 dmg or half as much on save. It's a DC 16 Dex save.
The bolt shoots out of the pedestal into Thorum and continuing over the pool to the back of the cavern (I'm giving the bolt a 30% chance of hitting someone else also. High hits)
58
Arcing across the water the bolt also hits... (I'm going to roll for it. 1 is Zarbof, 2 is Mysti, 3 is Belialuin, 4 is Roger)
4
Belialuin is also in the line of fire behind Thorum as he was also checking out the runes.
Belialuin save: 4
Belialuin doesn't see the bolt coming at him as he studies the runes and takes the full damage. He goes rigid as the bolt strikes him and those in the pool can see blood vessels popping as he falls down dead into the pool.
Thourm perks up “Elvish you say? I may be of some assistance in the area”

OOC: Sorry for being MIA lately... personal things came up.
Wormsquirt will head into the water with the others, taking time before though to make sure his things will stay as dry as possible.
(It's alright. I hope everything is OK)

Thorum will turn to Mysti, “These runes began glowing when I approached them. Did they do this earlier for you as well?”
Ghosts of Saltmarsh - DM
"Yes they did so then also, but i still had no idea what they say or mean." Mysti replies.
Zarbof will move forwards until the runes glow, so that he can get a rough idea of their proximity/sensitivity.

With Zarbof backing off and Thorum moving forward the runes change back to a shining gold.
