"Oh! Dinn'ea know you were friends with her too!" He beams.
She's just crankey that i had those two o'er thar start this mess to see a bit 'o yer mettle." He laughs out, nodding to the snoring Half-Orc and Halfling.
"I told her I'd pay for ann'ie damages, so it's all fine!"
Ivanna sputters awake, cursing now that she's got alcohol in her eyes.
"Damnit, what in the..."
As she looks around and sees all of the sleeping and unconscious people, she notices a tied up 'old friend'
"Gundren, you insufferable cretin, this'll take DAYS to clean up!"
The Stranger, responding to the name, chuckles out "Look, I said I'd pay for it dinn'ae I? Just hire a wizard to do it!"
Ivanna looks around again, addressing the party: "I'm assuming you did this? Last thing I remember is some chanting. You could have done it sooner! Saved me the trouble at least..."
Not that it matters, but I'm pretty limited at magic, and I assumed the rest of the brawlers would have ganged up on me had I done that at the beginning.
I sigh wearily, going back to the table I sat at and start to slowly flip it upright.
“My god, enough with the useless chatter! Let’s just get to why we all came here please? I’ve had just about enough of this place, no offense Ivanna, but two pies to the face is enough for one day.”
"Fine, fine, gather round the table." Gundrin mutters, rolling his eyes as Ivanna comes over to relive Jared of his captive, and begins ro untie him. As she pulls the last knot, he strides over to the table Demitric had just righted, shaking off rope as he walks.
As Gundrin rights a chair and sits himself down, he pulls out a small parcel, wrapped in cloth, with a glossy red wax seal on it, broken at the ridge.
The area you are in, the sword coast, is home to 2 active settlements, Neverwinter, and Phandalin. There used to be more cities and towns, but the area was thrust into turmoil some centuries back by an invasion by orcs, and the recovery has been staggeringly slow.
"But now, tha' roads get plundered by savages, monsters attack merchants, and even travel on The High Road inn'ae safe. Me 'an my brothers plan to try 'an fix this, get rid 'o the chaos, restore order, improve commerce, and bring in people to help in the restoration. You proved yourselves in a small way here tonight, you're capable 'o handling yerselves, so we'll start you off on a small job, a delivery." He continues.
"I have a few carts 'o supplies heading for Phandalin, they need ta be protected." Pulling out a small coin-purse, he starts thumbing out small stacks of Gp "10 gold up front, 10 on completion of the task, an' iffe ya stick around, I can promise more jobs, with even better pay..."
Putting the coin-purse away, with 3 stacks of 10Gp each on the table, he looks from person to person, dragging his head, looking deep into their eyes.
"... and na doubt, much greater risk."
"SO" he booms, pushing himself up from his seat at the table "What di'ya say?"
After a bit of stunned silence, Gundren bellows "Well what did ye do tha' fer!?"
Sighing and shrugging, he motions to Ivanna, who had spent the last minute or so untying the various patrons, and tells her "Wake up me boys, have 'em bring the lad to the wagons, he's gonna need teh sleep tha' off."

I carefully back off of the two dwarves and listen carefully.
Should I wake her up to commiserate the story?

Letting go of the dwarf, I grab a half empty mug of ale and dump it on Ivana's head.

I walk over to Gundren and finish untying him.
“So, care to tell us about the job?”
"Fine, fine, gather round the table." Gundrin mutters, rolling his eyes as Ivanna comes over to relive Jared of his captive, and begins ro untie him. As she pulls the last knot, he strides over to the table Demitric had just righted, shaking off rope as he walks.

"So tell me, what do ye know abou' the area?"
(History check time!)
"Plenty. What's the job?"

Demitric, you know:
The area you are in, the sword coast, is home to 2 active settlements, Neverwinter, and Phandalin. There used to be more cities and towns, but the area was thrust into turmoil some centuries back by an invasion by orcs, and the recovery has been staggeringly slow.
I basically parrot that back.

Sure, why not, this seems like a GUARD deal to me!
Somnnier Prolvic - A happy merchant of the world.
"Yes!" Gundren beams, "Excellent choice! An' th-"
Gundren is cut off as Jared jumps up and smashes his head into Demitric's sending him crumpling to the ground, unconscious.
...I headbutt Demitric(non-lethal)

"Was just gonna test his mettle, but then he said the guard thing."
Jared
Gundren, continuing to shake his head; "Fine, then I assume yer also in? 'An you lass?"
My eyes pan from Demetric to the violent dwarf and back to Gundren.
“Yes, I suppose... it might be interesting. Plus a job is a job”
