"Yes, I can tell you a bit about those groups. The Emerald Enclave is a widespread group of wilderness survivalists who preserve the natural order by rooting out unnatural threats. They struggle to keep civilization and the wilderness from destroying one another. Here in Chult, the Emerald Enclave is chiefly concerned with protecting inhabitants from the undead menace. They help keep the undead away from the city."
She smiles as she says this.
"As for the Flaming Fist, they are a mercenary company. They have a stronghold in Chult at Fort Beluarian which is north east of the Port. They have plundered the ruins of Mezro and are always seeking other lost cities and treasure. They help pacify the undead that roam the island."
Kaya seemed a bit bothered when she mentions the plundering of Mezro.

"Ah but yes, The Flaming Fist" Vah Jo Gyaan Chaahata Hai says, "I first came across them when I was travelling through Baldur's Gate many years ago. I am surprised that both you Kirinar and you Ransyl have not, given your martial prowess, come across them. I think you can describe them as very effective and very efficient in their approach, but perhaps a little too direct for my liking. Personally I like the sound of this Gawasha." He then turns to Kaya and says "Ah but my dear, you looked a little upset when telling us about the plundering of Mezro; perhaps you could tell me more?

Kaya sighs. "I suppose I don't really have any reason to be upset. The city was destroyed in the spellplague by all accounts. Many outsiders, like some of your party, come here to seek riches. I just don't like how the Fist operates. But some of the guides could tell you better than I."
She doesn't get the chance to say more as other guests call her attention away.
"Well, then, it sounds like the druid Gawasha is our choice! Mistress Kaya, how do we contact this guide? Perhaps he can also help us provision ourselves. And maybe our wizard host will consider covering the guide fees...what do you think, Doc? She's your acquaintance... Otherwise we're splitting Gawasha's fee amongst ourselves. 5 a day for 30 days split by 4 people is...37 gold 5 silver each." Kirinar says as he makes funny signs in the air while looking off into the distance, obviously doing calculations that require more fingers than he has and without the benefit of paper and pen!
"Nice arithmetic, Kirinar," Keyleth says, bemused. "Though he did write that his fee is negotiable if we help destroy undead. Since it's hard for me to imagine that we wouldn't have to destroy undead we encounter anyway, we probably should take him up on that offer."
"True. But I'd rather have my portion in a separate pouch so that I don't spend it on something else...then if he waives his fee I have some pocket money!" Kirinar says, grinning. "I'm hoping he can get us a deal on some armor better suited for this climate, and some of the other provisions we've talked about. Anyways...should we find the guide first, or seek out the boss at her friend's house?"
And maybe our wizard host will consider covering the guide fees...what do you think, Doc? She's your acquaintance...
Vah Jo Gyaan Chaahata Hai says "Ah but that is a good question young Kirinar. I will certainly raise it with her when we meet tomorrow at His Perspicaciousness Wakanga's villa. It is possible that either or both of them know of this Gawasha and can provide us with the benefit of this knowledge as to whether he will be a suitable guide for our sojourn into the Chultuan jungle. For as you can see" pointing to the large gash in his shell "it can be a dangerous place full of creatures that seem to be perpetually hungry, or angry, and in some instances both!"

“I understood our payment to be in the form of magical items. We might have to work out a deal with this Qawasha fellow in order to save some gold. Maybe we can make some gold in this endeavor as well.”
"I agree," Keyleth says. "We should keep enough gold in reserve in case we aren't able to come to another agreement, but hopefully we don't end up owing the full amount." She then fidgets in place, waiting for Kaya to return so they can ask her where to find this druid.
"Yes, an excellent choice for a guide. However he is not in the Port. He is at Fort Beluarian. Fort Beluarian is about a weeks travel northeast of the Port. If you don't want to go to the fort to find a guide, there are other guides posted at the Thundering Lizard and also at the harbor master's office."
As you talk to her you hear the sound of rain on the roof of the inn. Looking out the windows you see that a steady rainfall has begun.
Vah Jo Gyaan Chaahata Hai says to the others "I am not of the view that we need to find any other guides but I will certainly seek Syndra's and His Perspicaciousness Wakanga's views on Qawasha when I meet with them tomorrow. I will also ask their views on the best way to get to Fort Beluarian should we decide to proceed with Qawasha as our preferred guide."He looks out the window at the rain and continues "once this rain stops, we could make our way to the Bazaar to purchase any equipment we wish to take on our expedition."

As you wait for the rain to quit you see a commotion near the door of the tavern. Someone who has entered the inn seems to be garnering a lot of attention.
Only a few moments pass and you hear Kaya's voice above the others. "Make some room, let him pass! Volo it is so good to see you again! I had heard you were back in the Port. I am so glad you could find the time to come and visit."
The crowd seems to move your way and you hear her voice clearer as she moves in your direction. With her is a man whose image you may not know, but his name is known even to the young warrior Kirinar who grew up in a small town off the edge of a swamp.
The man with Kaya is none other than Volothamp "Volo" Geddarm, the world famous explorer.
As they pass by your table you hear him speak of visiting the local Merchant Princes. But he suddenly stops and looks at your party seated at the table.
"Now these," he exclaim's "are precisely the people I am here for! Why look, a tortle, haven't seem one of the in quite some time, an elf, a dwarf and a human seated together. These are adventurers for sure!"
He suddenly sits at your table and calls to Kaya "A round of tej on me for me and my new friends!"
"Have I got a deal for you. I am in the Port with my new book!" He reaches into his pack and pulls out a hard cover book. "Volo’s Guide to Monsters! If you are planning on going into the jungles you need this book. It has information on all of the types of creatures, monsters and inhabitants of Chult. Very useful and valuable information. Here take a look."
He flips a page and shows it to you. A sketch of a large monster with notes is on the page.
"Ever seen a froghemoth? A monstrous beast for sure. But did you know that it particularly doesn't like lighting attacks? It messes them up. That's the type of information I have in this book. You will need this information if you wish to survive the jungles of Chult! And for you my friends, 50 gp! Signed of course by yours truly! What do you say?"

Late morning
