You move up the street and approach a ruined shrine that stands at the heart of a walled compound. Tall monoliths flank the entrance, decorated with images of a jaguar with six snakes sprouting from its shoulders. A stone door is set into the shrine beyond.
As you get closer a jaguar with snakes leaps off the wall and lunges at
Dr A (1-2), Keyleth (3-4), Kirinar (5-6), Ransyl (7-8), Timber (9-10), Artus (11-12) 5
A second Kamadan can also be seen jumping down from the wall.
Initiative - Dr A 2, Keyleth 6, Kirinar 16, Ransyl 17, Timber 23, Artus 18, Kamadan Male 17, Kamadan Female 17
Keyleth looks for a rock or building to duck behind (Hide check if available: 31), and then fires a crossbow bolt at the female jaguar that pounced on Dr. A.
Attack: 25 Damage: 21
OoC: The result was the first die, so same result whether or not hiding is available.
Edit: I guess unless Dr. A goes unconscious, then she may not qualify for sneak attack, depending on positioning. I was also assuming that she was not within 5' of an enemy to start; if she was then she'd need to use her bonus action to disengage instead of hide.
"Oh look - kitties! And Snakes! An unnatural abomination to be sure - they must be destroyed!" the fighter calls out as he leaps into the fray, attacking the male kamadan in a frenzy of strikes! (Using Action Surge for an extra attack, and spending a Superiority Die to add damage and give the next attack against it advantage!)

McDonald's blade cuts deeply into the kamadan which immediately attacks Kirinar clawing at him and the snakes biting at him
Claws Attack: 6 Damage: 7
Snakes Attack: 23 Damage: 9 and and Kirinar must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, 25 poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The claws rake across his armor drawing blood but the snakes miss.
Ransyl is up and has advantage on the male kamadan

"Oh bad Kitties!" Timber shouts as they attack. "Snakes and cats do not mix!" He continues as he builds up warbling energy into his hands before throwing it at the nearest Kamadan.

Kirinar lands a last hit and then seeing the beast attack his brother in arms, Ransyl charges at it - his first hit kills the beast so he turns on the female and strikes it drawing blood
Artus fires arrows at the female with his bow

Attack: 12 Damage: 3
Attack: 9 Damage: 6
Timber hurls an undulating, warbling mass of chaotic energy at the beats hitting it in the side
Dr A fends off the sleepiness and its his turn

With the blast from Dr A the remaining kamadan is killed.
A ruined shrine stands at the heart of this walled compound. Tall monoliths flank the entrance, decorated with images of a jaguar with six snakes sprouting from its shoulders. A stone door is set into the shrine beyond.
Flanking the entrance are two stone monoliths, each one 15 feet tall and draped in vines. Examine the carvings you uncover an inscription written in Old Omuan: “Shagambi teaches us to fight evil with honor.” Reliefs on the monoliths show Shagambi overseeing Chultan warriors as they train with spears and swords.
The door to the shrine is not locked, but it hangs heavy on its hinges. The combined strength of a couple of you allows the doors to be pushed open.
Steps descend into a fifteen-foot-high, moss-covered room. Four statues of Omuan warriors stand in alcoves to either side, overlooking a barred gladiatorial pit in the floor. Each statue looks like it was meant to hold a spear, but its weapon is missing. On the far side of the chamber, a stone pedestal stands conspicuously bare. A relief on the wall behind it shows a monstrous jaguar with six snakes protruding from its shoulders, fighting off a squat, frog-like humanoid armed with a spear. To the left of the relief is a narrow tunnel with stairs leading down.

"Missing spears and something else from this pedestal...I don't recall seeing anything that might fit the statues before, do you? Maybe we need to continue down this passage and into the pit. Better let Ransyl and me go first, in case this is a combat challenge..."

"Let's see... inscription reading 'fight evil with honor', big fighting pit... You know, you might be onto something there with the 'combat challenge' thing, Kir," Keyleth says with a good-natured tone of gentle mocking. "I'm all for you going first. Pit fighting isn't exactly my style."
She then walks over toward the empty pedestal and looks over it carefully, attempting to determine if there are signs of something having been here that was removed, or whether there's any kind of hidden mechanism embedded.
While inspecting the room you see the wall relief depicts Shagambi (a kamadan) fighting Nangnang (a grung). Just below, an inscription written in Old Omuan tells the story of how Nangnang stole Shagambi’s spear.
At noon, a brave kamadan hopped down from her rock. She saw the evil in the Omuans’ hearts and decided to lance it like a troublesome boil. The kamadan fashioned a holy spear, but she left it by the riverbank and a crafty grung stole it. In her rage, Shagambi the kamadan forgot all about the Omuans and chased Nangnang the grung forever across the sky.
You also a notice tiny holes in the relief.
The pedestal is a 4-foot-high stone cylinder and close inspection reveals a stone hatch in the top of it.
Kirinar and Ransyl go down below and find this pit is 20 feet deep, and its bars are spaced 2 feet apart. A Medium or smaller creature can easily slip between the bars, and the walls of the pit are smooth.
Six-foot-high archways stand opposite one another at the bottom of the pit, the floor of which appears to be one large pressure plate.
You stand on the left side of the pit. On the opposite side is another Six-foot-high archway that has a passageway that then turns left.

Keyleth can act in the surprise round and then normal initiative begins
