I see a lot of threads that are already full, or open but already well underway with hundreds or thousands of posts already. I also see quite a few posts of people looking for games. My proposal is this... lets get a group together here, and decide as a group what we want to do, and who will be the DM. It's worth a shot. I assume getting a DM in the group will be the hard part.
I've been jonesin' for D&D for months and I've had zero luck in finding a game here since I started looking here (admittedly only a few days)! This might be my only chance XD
I don't know if I'd be up for the responsibility of DM, but if we go about this a day without finding one, I might take up the mantle. Only problem is, I'm very inexperienced with PbP games ^^; I'd much rather be a player. My vote is for something somewhat short and story-driven but with plenty of combat, perhaps at fifth level. I'm personally not into hack-n-slash, but also not too interested in doing nothing but RP. A good mix, please and thank you!
I dont really want to be the DM. the only prepared adventure i have is lost mine of phandelver, and i just dont have the time and energy right now to invent a campaign. i really want to play as a monk as well, so theres that...
I feel ya. Thinking about it, I don't think I could either ^^; LMoP is fun for beginners, but it's run its course for me. Maybe you should add "Recruiting" and "Looking for DM" in the thread title?
There are potentially three characters I'd play.
Melindy Myrtlesong, a Lightfoot Halfling Hexblade Warlock, a former thief whose pact is with her heroic ancestor through a perfect replication of his legendary sword (whose powers still sleep). Song Goldgale, a Protector Aasimar Celestial Warlock, a bard (lowercase b) whose pact is... not yet known, even to him. All he knows that he's done with ignoring the suffering of the world. Adarvan Khoroushi, a Glasya Tiefling GOO Warlock (... I like Warlocks, shut up), a former criminal who realized he committed a grave sin for a client against someone he loved long ago. In anger and with an eye towards vengeance, he cried to the gods to help him in his new quest. One god of the Far Realm heard...
If we dont start at level 1, i may actually build a Monk/Rogue and just full ninja that shit. the first character i actually played with was/is a tiefling rogue.
Hey, I'd just like to chime in as well. Seems like we have a few nice people here.
I have actual no experience as a DM, I haven't DMed even once, but I'm not doing that bad in PbP experience, I've already been almost 6 months doing the thing, but always as a player. Like everyone here, I have a nice character I'd like to play as, so I'm still up to lend the title to someone else, if an actual DM comes.
Now, the reason I have the potential to DM is that among with the PbP experience, I managed to get all the adventures here in D&D beyond just because of my other campaigns. In a lot of them, people activated the content sharing feature, and it was enough so I could gain full access to all of them, which is good because I have no real way to create a homebrew campaign from scratch just to play with you all.
I think that'd be great! Unless a more experienced DM pops up. If you're an experienced player and are confident, I think anyone can at least try their hand at DMing. Plus, you have more PbP experience than me.
im not picky about DM skill/experience. i just want to play as a PC. i recently tried to DM 2 different pbp campaigns, both my own ideas, and both fizzled out. i just wanna try playing with a PC.
Well... Just in case I end up DMing this... What adventure would you like to see me run? Preferably something that's at the same time good for beginners, but that isn't LMoP.
As I've mostly only been in homebrew campaigns, I wouldn't know much of easy ready-made campaigns. I've heard Tales from the Yawning Portal has some stuff though.
Ok... So i was about to say that I know nothing about the campaigns, and that could become a problem, but searching a bit I found a site that quickly explains most of the adventures, and even how hard it would be for me to DM them.
So, the Tales from the Yawning Portal that Natheus mentioned isn't an adventure per se, it's a list of dungeons, and it's most commonly used as possible dungeons to add in an already ongoing campaign. Which, by the way, one of those dungeons is called "Dead in Thay", and I'm already playing it elsewhere...
I'm just rocking onto this thread, as having seen the comments so far, it looks like everyone wants to play rather than DM. I'd be a new DM, but willing to give it a go over PbP. I have Lost-Mines as a premade, but would be up for putting together a homebrew for 5th levels. I can't say how good it would be, but I'm reasonable well versed in the fantasy genre, and would hope that I can give you a relatively flowing experience, if you're willing to accept that sometimes I will probably make a huge mistake and have to take corrective actions ;-)

I’ll play, but I can’t be dm.

Make it a Tortle and name it Botticelli.
I think fifth level is best. That way, if it doesn't last long, at least we'd've played with a bit more stuff than just first level features.
Just a nerdy dude.
true. i like 5th as well. especially if multiclassing.

Velmine - Tiefling, Rogue (9), Swashbuckler - Dead in Thay
Riris Swiftwhistle - Halfling, Bard (4), College of Swords - Lost Mines of Phandelver
Rellahne Vanderboren - Half-Elf, Wizard (4), School of Abjuration - The Shackled City
Ann Hidrizo - Human, Fighter (2) - Amphail Adventures
Sha - Firbolg, Cleric (3), Twilight Domain - Hunt for the Wish Dragon

Hope we can catch maybe another person.

Are you able to find something interesting you could run with that info? And I might be signing off soon. After ten, my time.
EDIT: I'm definitely willing to wait a bit longer if you need to prepare, of course.
Just a nerdy dude.
Yeah... It's already pretty late here where I am... So I will have to take time to prepare and decide what I want tomorrow.

Bring out your inner chatacter class...
I think Pertuie sounds a bit confident, sorry to say ^^; Though a more experienced DM wandering in here would be great.

Ok, no worries then. Best of luck :-)
