Xil winces as he forces his body to move. The pain from his wound is still very much there but his training enables him to block out the discomfort, at least for the time being.
Xel moves behind HDP to M10.
Hearing the warning of Epos, and seeing the concentration of HDP, Xel readies to cast Chill Touch on any new enemy that bursts out of the bush.
Xel takes a deep breath and once again focuses on the arcane formula of the spell. But instead of completing the formula, he stops short. He gathers the energy in his left hand and gets ready to release it at any new opponent that bursts out from the bush from the West.
Goblins burst out of the brush to the west: two of them run past the bush behind which Epos was hiding (movement is from A12-B13-C13 and A16-B15-C15). The elf's Stealth check beat their passive Perception, so they ran past the bush before realizing the elf was there. Epos can make an attack of opportunity against one with advantage (once they're in the C squares, they can see you and you're no longer hidden, but your attack happens before that).
Two of them appear north of their comrades (they appear at C5 and B8).
HDP and Xel's readied actions are triggered: Xel make an attack roll.
The Herr Doktor Professor shouts:
"Goblins, goblins,
You're too late,
The party's done,
Your friends are dead,
Time to share their fate!"
Goblin's Wisdom save: 5.
If the spells hit, I'll randomly determine which goblins are affected.
Sensing the hostile intent of the goblins rushing past, Epaminondas, almost by reflex, lashes out with his staff while the goblns' defenses are down. He felt he had time to hit at least one of them before they adjust their defenses to face him. Epaminondas stabs at the goblin to his North with the end of his staff.
Opportunity Attack on goblin on C13 - with staff, with advantage. Attack: 17 Damage: 11
As the Goblins leap forth from the bush they were hiding in, Xel completes his incantation: "In the end we are all death's slaves, feel his grasp, the chill of the grave." and casts Chill Touch on one of them. He hopes he is able to take one of them down in case their small party is suddenly overrun by these vermin.
One of the goblins running past Epos's position notices him, turning just in time to catch the end of the elf's staff in its face. The blow shatters the goblin's facial bones --its eyes collapse into its head and it falls to the ground, choking on its own blood.
One of the goblins to the north of Epos (in B8) runs straight into the spectral hand, which crushes its throat; it, too, falls dead.
The second goblin beside Epos covers its ears in pain as it hears the Herr Doktor Professor's words; it takes 1 point of damage and has disadvantage on its next attack.
OOC: I just use the basic roller for all my rolls; I'd recommend you do the same. If you guys are getting max damage all the time, I'll call for re-rolls.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Khial thinks to himself, "More goblins, more goblin ears to munch on later tonight." He draws his shortbow and carefully aims at the deafened goblin next to Epos (C15).
Attack: 21 Damage: 4
The thief glances at the hobgoblin and goblin that had emerged from the west. He wonders to himself, "I wonder how many more goblins are coming at us. At this point, I could eat crunchy grilled goblin ears for weeks." His mouth waters once more at the thought of such exotic delicacy.

The monk closes the distance to the hobgoblin bowman (moves to B8), preparing himself for attacks from any direction. He notes the armor, stance, facial expression of his target, the surrounding terrain, trying to anticipate and prepare for any eventuality, as has become second nature to him from years of instruction and meditation.
He tries again for a quick and simple strike Attack: 18 Damage: 6, and following up with his fist Attack: 6 Damage: 7
The Herr Doktor Professor maintains position behind Khial; the rogue hears the half-elf muttering to himself.
(HDP takes a ready action.)
Xel, you're up!
OOC: The sound is coming from the right side of the map?

OOC: I always seem to be getting max damage with damage die. let me try something- please disregard this roll:
OOC: Ok, I now know what I was doing wrong. Please disregard roll above. I will roll again.
Opportunity Attack on goblin on C13 - with staff, with advantage: Attack: 25 Damage: 16

Attack: 20 Damage: 8
OOC: Nice Critical Epos.
OOC: Tristan, what were you doing to the damage die?
OOC:Please advise - in the Die Roller - Combat - Damage Dice, I just put in 8 in the field to represent 1d8, correct?

Cautiously trailing the goblin, another hobgoblin emerges from the wilderness to the west.
OOC: I'm still using the same initiative rolls from before, so it's Khial, Hobgoblin, Epos, HDP, goblins, then Xel. Khial, you're up!
Khial thinks to himself, "More goblins, more goblin ears to munch on later tonight." He draws his shortbow and carefully aims at the deafened goblin next to Epos (C15).

OOC: On the combat damage die roll, you need to put: 1d8. If you put 8, it will always roll 8.
OCC: Copy that.
OOC: Works perfectly now.
The goblin beside Epos falls dead, an arrow in its chest. Khial makes plans for more culinary delicacies.
The hobgoblin, wielding its longbow, moves to C8 and fires at Epos:9.
The elf monk continues to go through the fight unscathed, dodging the arrow with an easy grace.
The hobgoblin curses in its foul language, then falls back to the cover provided by the bush (to B7).
Epos, you're up!
