Altani rears at the sound of the second screech and Mazin's warning, pulling a javelin from its holster. She surges forward towards Cinder, trying to get as close as she can to the exposed monk as well as toss her javelin at the creature.
"Careful Cinder.." she yells as she rides forward.
OCC:
Initiative 14
Altani will moves as close as she can to Cinder with her 40 foot move (14,3). From that location if I can see the griffin she will toss her javelin at it (short range) Attack: 22 Damage: 8. If she can not see it over the root, Altani holds her action and will toss the javelin as soon as she sees the creature.
Alwin just listens as his companions mention the status of the Griffin "Sh...ouldn't we try to fi...gure out wh..ats caused it." he says slowly approaching the griffin with his shield raised and hand resting on the handle. As he just begins to speak to the creature "Shhhhhh, we aren't here to hurt you. Please just calm down Mr. Griffin."
At the sound of the second loud *SCREECH* and the sight of the tiefling martial artist's faltering step, Wazzock rushes forward at to stand battle ready at ally's side, stepping over one of the large, dead roots to put herself between the slimmer warrior and whatever is making the horrid sound. As the half-orc priestess does so, she spies the clearly enraged creature... who's head snaps around to stare with it's empty bloodied sockets at her as her noisy, armoured steps pound the ground in her haste.
Moving forward, though lagging somewhat behind his companions, Kestrell pulls up a little at the loud blast of the second rage-filled *SCREECH*, taking quick stock of where his allies have moved to. Put on guard, the half-elven sorcerer sees their half-orc battle cleric charge to the fore... and the aracanists share eyes just catch the frenzied movement of something LARGE behind the huge stump.
Galloping forward with a sound like a hundred punches *pounding* the soggy earth in quick succession, Altani pulls up and swings about, drawing and cocking her javelin throwing arm, even as the paladin catches sight of their large, apparently enraged prey. The creature is still mostly behind the interposed stump, and so the centaur templar holds her breath and waits patiently, her torso and arm taught and ready.
Suddenly, the Savaged Griffon storms out from behind the massive stump, it's giant eagle wings snapping out behind and to its side, though it seems reluctant to fly for some reason... which the would be heros realise likely has to do with the fact that the creature has no eyes, merely two bloody wounds where the orbs once were. Regardless of its visual impediment, the clearly injured but still potentially deadly beast barrels forward in a clumsy fashion towards its prey, snapping its beak forward in Cinder's general direction even as its claws slash the air around Wazzock.

After letting the javelin fly and seeing it find it's mark, Altani gallops forward, screaming "Hold in there valiant Wazzock, I will save you!"
As the Centaur advances she draws her longsword, bashing it against the side if her shield to get the beasts attention. She skirts around to the left of the others and closes in behind the griffin, slashing at it in one powerful motion.

Even as Cinder rolls under the savaged griffon's hooked beak and Wazzock gets torn repeatedly across her torso and arms by the creature's wildly slashing talons, Altani's prepared javelin strike flies in to pierce the creature's right shoulder, near where the two arrows are embedded in its already partially limp wing, eliciting another enraged *SHRIEK* from the wounded monster.
Moving forward until her catches sight of the horrifyingly torn and disfigured creature, similarly mutilated to the dead marsh cat that was seen in the tree tops, the concerned Mazin begins scanning the surrouding trees, calling out his concerns to his allies. While the searching stare of the alarmed goliath detects no enemies nearby and is about to drop once again to the battle taking place not far away, a the briefest flicker of movement and glimmer of reflected light from far ahead to the North of the party, atop a raised mount that is home to another of the massive blasted and broken tree stumps. The movement and glimmer are gone almost as quickly as they were detected, but the goliath is certain that he saw something there.
Even as his large ally is scanning the trees around, Alwin desperately calls out in the offer of peace and friendship to the severely wounded and already embattled monster, in a thin hope of arresting conflict against what was once a magestic creature from the tales and story books of the half-elf's youth. Despite the soothing words and gestures of peace, the eyeless monstrosity continues trying to shred and devour the fighter's companions. Whether his failure to placate the beast stems from it is the griffon's wounds, the fact that it is engaged in battle with his allies or merely the savagry of the leonine monster's very nature, Alwin cannot ascertain.
Blocking out the distraction of the half-elf's calls to halt hostilities, Cinder falls into a much practiced internal state of peace and preperation, even as she begins duck and weaving beneath the monster's slashing beak. Spinning her spear for added momentum as she rises from her last duck, the calm martial artist stabs the weapon deep into the leonine creature's breast. As the blinded and torn beast rears backwards from the spear strike, the tiefling warrior snaps a powerful kick into its stomach, which unfortunatley bounces off the thing's muscled hide.

Swaying on her feet from the pain and damage inflicted by the savaged griffon's wild assault, Wazzok calls out to her orcish gods for renewed vitality. Before your very eyes, the half-orc's wounds begin to heal, though despite the answering emporwerment of her divine patrons, the priestess is still left lookin battered and bruised as she hefts her shield in preperation for another assault.
The rhythmic intonation of arcane chanting from the rear of your party carries across the clearing as Kestrell throws a beam of icy magic at the distant creature threatening his allies. Unfortunatley, while the needle thin ray of blue frost strikes the large monster, it appears to have no effect whatsoever.
Charging forward to box the savaged griffon between herself and her allies, Altani slips slightly on the wet, bogging ground as the centaur paladin brings her longsword arcing around towards the tawny, feathered hide of the savage creature. The tip of the the holy knight's blade misses its mark by the smallest of margins, even as the wounded but still fearsome foe rears up to continue it's attacks.
Having clawed and raked at whatever it found before it, the griffon continues slashing its talons about in a wild furry around Wazzok, though also detecting the charging Altani behind it, swings its head about to lash out at this newest threat with its sharp, iron-hard beak. Fortunately for both targtted party members, while the monster's claws and talons connect, they are deflected by the gleaming shields and armour of the two protected warriors, the fierce attacks leaving little more than ragged scratches in their wake.

Bloody fury emanates from Wazzok as she glares up at the griffon. She continues to chant in orcish, and a black mist swirls around her warhammer wielding fist. Rather than striking the beast, she points an index finger toward it, glancing it with a life-draining touch.
Mazin will move forward directly in front of the Griffon (16,5 I think). He will call out as he goes "There's something on that mound to the north!" ((OOC: Edit, I removed the second sentence. ))
As he reaches the Griffon, he will growl as he reaches within himself to the animistic rage that lurks beneath the surface. (Bonus Action to Rage!)
He will swing his greatsword down onto the Griffon with a mighty roar! Attack: 19 Damage: 18
Calling out in warning about something on the mound to the North, Mazin's words deteriorate into a wordless growl of rage that builds into an animalistic *ROAR* that echoes across the marshlands even as the huge beserker rushes forward to leap over a large tree root to bring his greatsword down in a ferocious overhanded chop. So mighty and wild is the attack that the raging goliath's nearby allies instinctively flinch back from the blow, though the savaged griffon has no such opportunity. Blind to the oncoming attack with it's body still facing the half-orc priestess while it's head snaps back at the centaur paladin behind it, the wounded creature's neck is exposed for a few moments, one of which the giant beserker uses to bring his blade down in a single mighty decapitating blow. The panting of the combatants aside, there is a sudden silence that falls over the clearing which is broken only by the dual *thuds* as the griffon's head and body crash to the ground.
Alwin had maneuvoured around the griffon and was just about to attack the creature from behind when his goliath companions finishing blow struck. Standing momentarily unsure of their next actions at the death of the savage creature, the party is somewhat surprised to hear a beautiful, haunting melody sounding out across the marshy bog, intruding into their midst like a beautiful yet uninvited reveller to a party. Amost as eerily mesmerising as the voice of Cypruss herself, there are notes of something else mixed within the almost hypnotic pitch and tones of the music - notes that are difficult to identify, let alone resist. The song of almost achingly beautiful enticement is at first pleasingly welcome... but then the mind-affecting influence of the enchanting voice begins to take root, insinuating itself into the half-elf's mind in an overpowering and yet somehow stimulating fashion.

I'm assuming it will be disadvantage no matter what, because it will either be more than 20ft away or it's hidden or both.))
Looking north to see what Mazin was talking about, Cinder resists whatever is trying to affect her and starts running in the direction he had indicated to defend against a new threat apparently. ((Action to dash to the stump after moving 30 feet))
Seeing the griffon fall to the goliath's massive blade, Cinder shakes her head to clear it even as she bolts towards the influence emitting source of the beautiful yet hypnotic song, though the martial artist has to slow her run half-way through her sprint as she approaches the base of the mound.
Looking ahead the tiefling warrior notices that the base of the mound is surrounded by a thick bramble of tangled undergrowth that has sharp inch-long thorns interwoven through it. A handful of feet beyond the thorny barrier and angling upwards, the mound rises for another thirty-forty feet to the huge broken and charred stump at the top of the mound.
[OOC] RND2:Cinder has only moved 30' so far, so you can change your action if you wish, otherwise she could try to leap or otherwise circumvent the natural barrier around the base of the mound to continue moving. If she chooses to try and leap it, give me a athletics check please.

Alwin bends down to begin plucking the feathers of the griffin, thinking they may be useful to sell.
No sooner was the leonine monster's head cleaved from its body than Alwin hears the beautiful song emnating from somewhere to the North. The beautiful melodic voice calls him forward and the half-elf feels compelled to respond, his body moving almost of its own volition. Seeing the tangled and dangerously thorny barrier of dense undergrowth between himself and the source of his desire, the entranced fighter hesitates for a brief moment before the thorns, his head shaking briefly at his own actions.... tbc

Looking north to see what Mazin was talking about, Cinder resists whatever is trying to affect her and starts running in the direction he had indicated to defend against a new threat apparently. ((Action to dash to the stump after moving 30 feet))
Alwin bends down to begin plucking the feathers of the griffin, thinking they may be useful to sell.
Campaigns:
Wildemount: The Felderwin Irregulars (2020) - Balassar Silverstone - Dragonborn Fighter (Rune Knight) Lv. 5 | Dangerous Designs - Kaelen Stoneshard - Minotaur Cleric (War Domain) Lv. 2 | Rise of TIamat - Aiwin Aralana - Wood Elf Fighter/Ranger (Arcane Archer/Gloom Stalker) Lv. 9
Mazin will run over the griffon as far as he can towards ((OOC: If the creature shows itself before his turn, he will run towards it. If not, he will run towards where he saw movement earlier.))
He will hold his greatsword off to the side while he draws and throws a handaxe towards ((either a creature if it's shown itself or to where he thinks it might be based on the music and where he saw it last. I'm assuming it will be disadvantage no matter what, because it will either be more than 20ft away or it's hidden or both.))
Attack: 15 Damage: 9
[OOC] RND2: Cinder has only moved 30' so far, so you can change your action if you wish, otherwise she could try to leap or otherwise circumvent the natural barrier around the base of the mound to continue moving. If she chooses to try and leap it, give me a athletics check please.

No sooner was the leonine monster's head cleaved from its body than Alwin hears the beautiful song emnating from somewhere to the North. The beautiful melodic voice calls him forward and the half-elf feels compelled to respond, his body moving almost of its own volition. Seeing the tangled and dangerously thorny barrier of dense undergrowth between himself and the source of his desire, the entranced fighter hesitates for a brief moment before the thorns, his head shaking briefly at his own actions.... tbc
[OOC] RND2: Alwin can make another wisdom saving throw DC11 (with advantage vs the charm effect).
Any PCs who have not posted there RND3 actions, please do so.

[OOC] If Kestrell can reach the large stump he will attempt to climb on top of it.
Athletics: 7
If he can't reach the stump, he will move as close to it as possible, staying on the same side as the group.
