'Thain's arrow flies up, slamming into one of the creatures with audible force, while a split second later Xavier's javelin does the same. The creature gives a shriek of fury unlike any sound you've ever heard a bird make... and it's at that moment, as they swoop lower to strike, that you notice the antlered skull like visages of the creatures, red eyes burning in the eye socks.
The uninjured creature, seeing it's target rushing into the brush, angles its descent and you all hear the tearing of tree limbs as the beast rips through the canopy near where Del dissapeared. The wounded creature continues it's attack, talons extended towards Thain as it falls ever nearer... also bringing it's jagged antlers around to strike as it swoops low over the ground.'

'With a shriek the horrifying creature slams into Thain, sending his bow spinning from his hands as it tears at the green skinned man with both claw and antlers. You are all mortified to see you new companion's inert form, dead or unconscious you can't tell, beneath the grounded form of the beast. It's red glowing eyes gaze around in hunger as it's head swings toward new prey.
It's at that moment that you all see an orb of crackling energy is tossed from beneath the wagon towards the fearsome creature.'

'The creature shakes its head in rage, as though something unseen is bothering it, but then it has more pressing concerns. As the orb of electricity hits the creature, it shrieks again, this time in agonizing pain as arcs of blue magic cause flames to erupt across it's feathers. It's head pivots towards the wagon and as it takes a clawed step in that direction, you hear an "Eeep" sound and you see Skerckrit roll out from the opposite side of the wagon and scamper into the nearby trees.'

'Aramis fires off a bolt at the creature as it closes on the wagon and the terrified draught horses, but the bolt misses and sticks into the wagon bed. Just as the creature's head swings back towards the bard, a fletched arrow appears as if by magic in one of its red eyes, piercing deep into the creatures misshappen skull. Aramis studies the body of the creature looking for any valuable items or body parts, then hauls the body on to the wagon.
"lets get out of the open. the sooner im behind walls the better! anyone seen that axe ****er?"
Aramis also retrieves his crossbow bolt, but after realising that it missed, decides to discard it, believing that had bad luck.
