balonypower- please add your character to the campaign -> https://ddb.ac/campaigns/join/3910573871419033 As vassa said, this will give you access to all the content I've purchased as well so you'll be able to choose from lots of tieflings.
Just to set proper expectations: We will not be starting tonight. I'm unavailable and a couple folks are still working on backstory. If life goes as planned, we'll try kick off the introduction thread tomorrow afternoon/evening (CST) if most of you are good to go. I'll post a link to the game thread here once everyone's ready.
Background info for setting the scene when we do start:
Our campaign will start in autumn. Throughout autumn, wagonloads of food arrive in Waterdeep from outlying farms. Without this bounty, city folk would starve during the winter. Cold, howling sea winds remind Waterdavians that winter is near. Because of this, the streets are hectic during the day and fairly empty in the evening.
We'll be meeting in the Yawning Portal. When doing your intro post, feel free to start your story elsewhere and follow your character's journey up to the tavern if you so desire.
If you want your character to know someone else in the party, make sure they're aware and ok with it.
And, if at any point you disagree with me or don't like how I'm doing something, shoot me a message to let me know, I'm not easily offended.
I'm in australia so this could be a bit awkward for me but I'll try and work around it I'm mostly active from 7:30 am to 9:00 or 10:00 am sydney time but that should be night/afternoon for you so it could work
I’m looking at the other elf subraces to see the other ones,

Are we ever sure that we exist? Do we have feelings? Or are we just NPC's designed to think highly? If so what is our purpose? Why are we here? Who are the players? Or are there Players?
I'm still converting the story elements, and I've maintained my talk first - shoot last (but fast) build, but I've shifted my 1/2 elf bard to more of a sneak/deciever type (i.e. rogue-lite) dropping his intellect/wisdom focus (researcher) for acrobatics/stealth/slightofhand (criminal/spy background with thieves kit prof and a penchant for card games), a bit more hardiness and offensive capabilities (dam/debuff/control vicious mockery/hideous laughter and aoe thunderwave), but still a little support, with buff (bardic inspiration) and utility (prestigation and unseen servant).
To tie him into the Waterdeep setting, I've made him a half-son of a shunned once-noble Waterdeep family (House Rosznar), which (at DM's discretion) doesn't actually make him a noble at all, but gives him some connection to that world, which he is more than willing to try to exploit for rp purposes. I did a search on Waterdhavian families (not much in the Enchiridion) and Rosznar seemed best for a shaddy 1/2 drow bard who doesn't aspire to really be a part of that world, i.e. a dandy.
*DM - not sure if house Rosznar features in the actual WDH content, so if this family doesn't work for whatever reason (or you'd rather I took a different angle, since I think Balony Power is an actual noble), just let me know. Happy to adjust story/flavour to suit the game.

My hours are all around. I’m in Pennsylvania USA, so EST... But I’m up all day and stay up late. Especially in the grind of the game. I made a pretty decent character that I’m really proud of. Lockbox is an oddity, thankfully, our DM is letting me play one of my most beloved races: THE WARFORGED! I never get to play one because I’m always running Eberron and never playing in it. Lockbox was built by a Thay wizard that he rebelled against. Which led to his life of pirating. If you want INT or WIS, you won’t find it in this barbarian lol he hits hard and can take the hits as well. As long as y’all pull your weight, he’ll pull you through. His life on the seas taught him the value of a team. Unfortunately, they got caught and he was sentenced to hard labor. He really didn’t mind it, the year in Waterdeep’s jail just let him focus on who he was and why he was to be. He will never understand tbh...lol
I plan on cross classing him into the fighter class later on... that is if he lives.

Hey DM. Are we allowed to spend our background starting gold on gear from the PHB?
Additionally, what are your preferences and game rules for rp, e.g. will the game thread be meta-free (in-character voice/actions and DM questions only), is swearing allowed, gruesome hdywtdt descriptions, visits to brothels, etc.?
Additionally, if anyone would like to have their character 'meet up' with Vassa pre-campaign leading to our group meet up in the Portal, i'm happy to talk that through. He tends to drink and perform at 3 taverns/inns - The Angry Coxwain near the docks, the Singed Bolt near River Gate and the Red Gauntlet on The Way of the Dragon near Southgate. If he's not hanging out or 'working' at one of those joints (mostly during nights), then he's usually down near the harbour or somewhere else where travellers or adventurers tend to show up or congregate, entertaining potential new friends in exchange for information about far away places or interesting happenings elsewhere. He is attracted to all things beautiful and mysterious, but is generally happy to hang out with any interesting newbie to the city, perhaps even playing the part of guide for an afternoon or evening. Vassa is quick and tough 'enough', but realises the benefits of having friends with that certain 'don't f&%k with me' look. While naturally outgoing, self-assured and often 'loud' (if not verbally or musically, then in dress or in some other manner), the bard is not particularly arrogant and is genuinely kind hearted (CG alignment), even if his wit is sharp enough to deflate a gaggle of beholders.

balonypower & vassasunstar - I understand the timezone issue. I'm sure we can work around it.
vassasunstar - The family you've chosen does play into the quest, but I think a bastard child could add some more flavor here and there, if you're up for it.
Additionally, what are your preferences and game rules for rp, e.g. will the game thread be meta-free (in-character voice/actions and DM questions only), is swearing allowed, gruesome hdywtdt descriptions, visits to brothels, etc.?
I'd like us to try and keep the game thread as predominately free of OOC chat and use this thread and direct messages for the rest.
Swearing is allowed but don't come off like Samuel L Jackson on a plane full of snakes. Bonus points for creativity. If you're in need of inspiration I recommend /r/rareinsults
The gruesome descriptions are fine with me, but I want to leave this one open to the part. Does anyone have a weak stomach?
Visits to brothels are fine. But please don't start writing erotica. Unless there's a story related reason, probably best to stop the description at the bedroom door and pick it back up on the way out.
Thanks for the reminder, Kestrell. That particular post on the thread is great. I'm going to share it with my PBP players. See Vassa's colour in my updated sig.
Thanks, DM. Understood and perfectly fine re rules/guidelines. I just wanted to be sure before getting into the adventure. And yeah, timezone shouldn't be an issue for me, though I do have my regular once fortnightly group game tomorrow from 11:30am-9:30pm Sunday AEST (CST Sat 8:30pm-6am).
Great news about Vassa's noble-ish flavour. Really looking forward to diving in. FYI - Codester and I are working it out, but Aenio and Vassa will have met the evening before and will make their way to the Portal together. What time in-game (e.g. early evening, late night) will you pick things up?
