Tocksays, "I'm definitely up for taking out the automaton. In fact I might have a couple new toys to try out first if we're not in a hurry. Don't know yet how exactly this would work, but I want to find out. If it works then we might not have to fight it at all."
"But if my plan doesn't work then I'll need a bit more to prepare for a frontal assault."
If that conversation took place on the first day then Tockwould actually go put in the orders for the magic items and then sit and watch the automaton place. "Dog, please let me know once we have a go-ahead from local authorities to take it out. I'll go and keep an eye out to see if anyone else shows up and prevent any of the local kids from wandering in there."
Asking about the fate of Garielle's house is a bureaucratic nightmare. It requires meeting with city officials of all stripes, from a lowly clerk to a council member to get a clear story of what is to become of it. It takes a full 4 days to get a clear answer on the matter, which is still as clear as mud: The house returns to the city and will go up for auction after it has been cleaned and cataloged. This process usually takes several weeks.
The council member intimated that sometimes someone of privilege is able to purchase the house before the city concerns itself with all of that.
(If anyone wishes to pursue the matter further, we can RP it with some persuasion rolls. Also, anything ordered for pickup in two days is ready. Other than that, I am just waiting for Martin and Bulwark to make any shopping choices. As before, Bulwark might need some...er...orders...to pick up some useful items for himself.)
Martin has no particular shopping to do. If he has lots of time, I think he’ll drift around the city trying to take after his old master and look after the pigeons and other city wildlife.
Bulwark will vocalise his agreeableness to accompanying whoever wants to fight the constructs, but otherwise just spends his time as a bodyguard for the group.
Tockwill invite Bulwark along to trying out stuff on the constructs. He'll explain the plan on the way.
Upon getting there he will first quietly approach the hut and ritually cast silence at the door, hoping to cover as much of the inside as possible.
He'll then gladly use Bulwarks help in setting up a protected hiding spot with direct line of sight of the door and the position of the automaton as he recalls it. About 40 feet away or so.
He will then re-cast the silence and ask Bulwark to open the door of the hut. He'll hide first (25)
Assuming things look the same as the last time he was here, which is the automaton in the middle and there was some other stuff as well.. two suits of armor?
If so then he'll summon a spiritual weapon in the form of a wrench and try to bash the automaton with it.. until it falls apart I guess. If it seems to work, but not finish the job in a minute, he has another spell slot to re-summon it for another minute.
(but I assume something else will happen.. so lets see :) )
Oh if we are doing this, Dog is coming too! He will use his boots to fly up just above the roof and look for any holes or skylights or hatches or anything interesting. He will also send Stitches in the door to take a look at the inside to confirm all is as it was. He uses mold earth to excavate a large 5-foot hole in the dirt just outside the door, hoping to make the suits of armor fall in if they leave (allowing for a few feet of space to Cole into the building from the right and left of the door. When Tock prepares to cast, he will coordinate to cast shatter at the same time, aiming for right under the big construct. He readies his javelin of lightning as well, assuming the suits of armor and the construct will try to exit and he can get them all in one line.
Tock is hoping to do all of the killing part without ever representing anything substantial for the robots to focus on. He doesn't plan to use his crossbow at all, only the spiritual weapon.
But if that doesn't work out then coordinate for a ranged assault, sure.
Gash on the first day of celebration and rest finds his way to the magic shop.
"Hello, my name is Gregory, I have a rather large order and a couple items I'm hoping to sell you." Gash lists off the items he'd like to purchase and confirms he will be here in two days to pick up the scrolls. After all is said and done, he sells his Brazier that commands fire elementals and his scroll of control flames and picks up several items.
Gash spends the third day copying spells (okay so i remember we talked about doing rolls for copying: i didn't know that was a thing before so I'll start doing it now. There are also variant rules for mishaps spell scroll)
Unseen Servant - Arcana DC 11 - 14 Knock - Arcana DC 12 - 21 Fly - Arcana DC 13 - 22 thunder step - Arcana DC 13 - 22
On the third day, Gash picks up his spell scrolls from the shop and takes them home to copy as well.
melf's minute meteors - Arcana DC 13 - 14 Polymorph - Arcana DC 14 - 22
(this was nerve wrecking, i'm going to mc into rogue just for expertise in arcana :P oh and one more question, if i fail to copy does it still consume the gold?)
For the assault on the mason's shop: We will need to go through this a step at a time (you guys gave me 15 things all at once!) Consider what you have so far the plan. When the assault is ready to begin, what will everyone do first?

We won't use the mishap rules, but you DO lose the gold whether you succeed or fail. It looks like Polymorph and Knock failed. You can inquire about buying a new copy for the same price. For Polymorph, it automatically will take two days, if available.
fast forward to day four and Tock's plan. "I could also summon a demon in there. Might speed the process up along. Or how about some gross tentacles or just a big giant BALL OF WATER!"

Tock, apparently still at the Inn with the rest of them, after an hour of theorizing on the attack plans, "Whoa whoa whoa, hold your horses. I mean sure we can go and murder it and maybe take some casualties on the way, but I was actually proposing an approach that would not put anyone in danger."
"If we are doing a frontal assault instead then we need a plan and I need to prepare different spells."
Dog is on board with Tock’s plan and was just going to send in Stitches to make sure the automaton was still there, and then hide behind the cover Tock found, and cast shatter from afar, after Tock casts spiritual guardians. If the thing does come out he would throw the javelin at them. If it doesn’t he would stay behind cover, possibly casting shatter again. Before they got there, he’d ask if flying up to the roof for a look was a smart scouting tactic, and also if scooping out a five foot deep hole in the ground in front of the door would be a good idea, as a trap for the constructs (and would do it first if Tock thought it was a good thing).
"I think we're all on board with your original plan just setting up contingencies. But just as you wanted to barricade it in with some of your magic I was saying I could spend some of mine. However, I'm sure we can just hold the line and see if your magic works and if not we should be able to take it out quickly."

Dog asks if a big hole outside the door would be more of a problem for the automatons or for the party. He will send Stitches to the window for a look, and then to the top of the doorframe to enter the building to look around and confirm their placement.
Finally, a map! Combat has not started yet and Dog has gotten a lay of the land through Stitches already. Nothing has changed since he and Tock visited the masonry a few days ago. I will roll initiative once combat begins, whomever begins it.
“I think giving this thing a hole to get out through allows us some control of the start of the fight, we can prepare well etc. but it also tears up the stuff inside, yeah?” Martin is just twirling his bow as he thinks. “I could lay down a spell of spikes to hurt and slow it, too, if I know how it’s coming out, but that hurts our front liners too.”
OOC: once again, the mold earth spell would make a five foot hole in the ground just outside the door, not a hole in the wall or the door, if there’s confusion there.... it would just complicate the terrain right outside the door. Maybe put the spikes just inside the door? Dog can use his flying boots to avoid spikes and holes if he wants to close to melee. But he’s happy to start with the shatter spell or the javelin (it’s one of his bonded weapons he can summon back to his hand).
Assume the big red thing is the construct? And the 1 and 2 are the suits of armor? So with a 10-ft radius sphere he could get all of them with shatter, and not much else in the building?
