You pause your tavern celebration to leave town again in hopes of finding Dirk unharmed. You take the same path back and notice the mound of dirt where Absinthe buried the flameskull is... moving. Faintly, but still, the flameskull is alive again and trying to get out. You're not sure how far it's made it and how far it has left to go before it's free.

"Ahhh crud-" Fjolnir looks up at Absinthe- "Oi, big guy, do you see any rocks around here we can set on top of this thing to keep it there long enough for us to get back? Maybe we bring one of those big chests back and lock that thing in it and THEN bury it... or at least keep it so we can transport it somewhere... "
It's easy enough to locate a nearby rock heavy enough to impede its progress for a while. How long you're not sure, but it will slow it down. You continue to the mouth of the mine and make it after a few uneventful hours. Where in the mine are you going?

"Shall we check the Forge then swing by where we holed up a night and left that chest?" Fjolnir hikes up his pants..."Maybe we can haul that big bastard back."
"Yeah might as well we grab that while we're here. We should go check the chasm through way of the spell bellows." If he's not laying in the chasm with a broken leg we should check the bunk rooms. He might be taking a nap."
You all climb down the ropes at the front of the mines with no problems, helping each other as best you can and being careful. Absinthe jumps down from the top because he can. You go through the tunnels, the old entrance foyer. the great cavern, the bellows room, and finally end up on the East side of the Chasm. You don't see Dirk.

Dustfinger takes a seat just at the bottom of the ropes, and summons up a flock of familiars: three fey owls. Using his memory of the layout of the mine, he commands them to split up and search for Dirk while avoding the spore clouds, and to telepathically report if they find him and share vision of the location when found.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The owls move quickly and one reports back after seeing Dirk sleeping in the Spell Forge building with the magical imbuing fire. 14 The owl does not wake Dirk.
I walk in not quietly and check that he is in fact sleeping and not dead. When I find out he's fine. I kick him in the ribs. "What the hell Dirk? You moving in? Get your ass up we got a tavern full of drinks waiting for us."
Mm getting my eight hours rest.... mmmtoo close not to. For brevity's sake I wake up. Oh hey, nice of you guys to be somewhere in the vicinity. I'm not asking, I don't care... What's our next move?
Alright gents well looks like this is it for now, i'm going to head up research at the mines and turn a nice profit for us all, rest assured the payment that Sidar mentioned will be fulfilled and i'll get it to you post haste, and please come by every time you're in the area i'll be working on how to permanently enchant weapons as well as other beneficial magical things.
Dirk i know we had our disagreements but you always came through... even in your own way
Absinthe you big goofy bastard it was an honor to fight next to you
Fjolnir we didn't talk much but i always enjoyed your straight shooting... pun intended
Dustfinger you have to let people in and open your mind half the time we didn't even know what you were but we knew you were fiercely loyal don't let that blind you to your friends
Az Emberi the best human I've ever met and that is not meant to be a slight to you continue being the voice of reason and i think we have a lot of personal work to do with our star friend, that story doesn't seem to be over.
well gentlemen good luck
Hymir walks off to claim an office to set up as a shared office a spot for his spider and his other spider as well as the only college that he wants to share a space with at the mines (present party excluded) Other Hymir
I clap my hand firmly on Hymir's shoulder. "Good luck to both of you. If you need anything send for me. If you learn more of the Star Wizard send for me immediately. Next time I'm in town we'll either toast the mine's success or plan the death of a wizard." I turn to walk out "Come on Dirk. First round is on me."
Uh... Take care? I didn't realize you were leaving. It was fun, even when it wasn't.. I turn to the rest of the group. What in the hell! You guys abandon me for almost 8 hours and in that time run off Hymir?
"Of Course Absinthe will go back for Dirk. We can get some drinks to go."

"For ****s sake." I look around for a boulder we might be able to roll over the spot.

"Lets go to the spell forge maybe he's imbuing his weapons again"
Dusty commands the owls to convene on Az to lead him to the spell forge.
You all converge on the Spell Forge and peer inside the open metal doors to see a still sleeping Dirk. He looks so peaceful.
If you're entering the room and do not intend to wake him from his beauty sleep, roll stealth.

Dustfinger commands the owls to screech and flap all around Dirk's head.
