“All in a day’s work my dear”. Looking up at the human. Putting his hands in his pockets to hide them shaking from adrenaline as he puts on a stoic face. Occasionally waving and shaking hands with the workers as he waits for the group to come together and discuss this plan he has set in motion.
"Yes, yes, of course, let's all go." Corti lets Bellows and Tetuski lead the way to the stage, patting the workers she recognizes on the back as they walk up. "It's good to see you again, Milo, although I wish it had been in a calmer setting. I really appreciate your help in this. "

Tarian gestured for Arc to lead her to John’s apartment. “Slowing down production in the short term is probably the point, Mister Cannith. I met a charming warforged musician in a bar in the Forge: Miss Corti. Real talkative type. She talked about her training—I assume that’s something all warforged have to take time to do. Add on construction time—you don’t just snap them together as quick as you did that image, do you?—and what you have is a big gap in time before you get back to full production.”
Tarian paused and took a brief look back around, inspecting the building as they progressed toward the foreman’s apartment. “That gap is probably what they’re looking for. Keep you down long enough for them to do something. ‘They’ are one of your competitors. Local, if I don’t miss my guess. A manufacturer. So probably headquartered in the Forge here in Duskrock. And rich enough to either run or buy the services of organized crime, or about to turn a big enough profit from making a move right now to do so. Well, either way, they stand to benefit from your production lines being down right now. So they’ve either just made something big, or will soon.”
Tarian shook her head. “I track people, Mister Cannith, not businesses. You’re better equipped to know who’s got something cooking in the Forge. So, review: local business, or local development. They do something you also do. Specifically something you do here. Either just made or will be making something major soon. Wealthy owners, or connections to wealth.” She turned out her hands palms up. “The list that fits all those criteria can’t be that big. Anyone come to mind? The right answer might not be in that group, but it’s a better place to start than nowhere. At least until I talk to Mister John.”

Arc thinks, "The most recent development would have to be that unveiling of that new invention by that Sparks fellow. But I don't know if he's connected to any of the competition in the factory markets. Also, it's a big city Tarian, and my family does many things. But, limiting it to the factories, that leaves the steel industry, the standing noble houses and Sparks himself, plus whomever may be backing his project."
“Well, at least it’s something. We can collect more information and try to rule out each one individually. Better than trying to hunt down all of Duskrock.”
Steel, hmm? Factories might be a good place to hole up. Warehouses, too. Noble’s house might work, but not only would the entire staff have to be in on it, but any visitors would be, too. For now, let’s focus on the factories and warehouses. I don’t know about this Sparks fellow. Saw his name in the paper earlier. Might be something significant. If the factories and warehouses don’t pan out, I should probably look into him.
At last the pair arrived at the foreman’s door. “I don’t know how well this is going to go,” Tarian stated flatly. “One, he already threw you out earlier. Two, I don’t work with victims well.” She stared at her hand as she repeatedly opened and closed her fist. “With thugs, you can just beat the truth out of them. You can’t do that with a victim. They require more… finesse.” Tarian leaves her fist closed. “Nothing for it, though. Let’s see what happens.”

The small apartment door opened to reveal a hulking beast of a man, skin as dark as charcoal and two small tusks protruding from his lower jaw. In a gravelly voice tinged with grief and a hint of hope, he answered timidly for such a large man: “John Krull, that’s me. Have you news of my wife?” He tried to step aside as much as possible to invite Tarian into his apartment and was surprised to see Arc there. “I’m surprised, I didn’t think you’d help me.”

On Union Square, the situation was calming down now, with the two colums of marchers sending representatives to the stage and with many in the audience leaving to head back home and the more influential people heading towards the stage themselves.
”Gentlemen, gentlemen, I’ll be in the city for a while, I’m afraid any discussions have to wait until this afternoon”. With that, Sparks excused himself brusquely from the dignitaries, before returning onto the stage where Thia, Brandt and Milo were now confronted with the large warforged unit, a red-headed gnome with innocent looking green eyes and a fiery temper, a shoddy half-elf with dark hair and a darker mood, a large bald human worker with dark skin, and a much more slight and petite human woman with long braided black hair and eastern appearance, still in her worker’s clothing. They all tried to talk over one another, eager to get assurances from Milo Spudsder, or to try and talk to Mr Sparks. Thia and Brandt instead looked rather swept up in events, Brandt still dutifully trying to protect Mr Sparks.
As the squareemptied itself and things quietened down, Derbert Sparks returned to the small group gathered on the stage. “Gentlemen, Ladies, what can I do for you?” The female worker began talking first: “Name’s Mei Ling, I’m a forworker in the Foundry. I’m here because our representative in the strikes with House Cannith has been threatened directly. We want to work for your project, but we need guarantees of decent wages, conditions and food. We heard from Mr Spudsder that the food will be provided, can you guarantee the rest?”
At her words, the half-elf starting fuming at her, Corti, and the large humanmale worker: “Are you mad? You’ve won a victory against your masters and immediately throw yourself at the feet of another? Don’t you see that his project is nothing but pretty words? It’ll take years before the line is constructed, and years still until you see the benefits of your labour. In the meantime? You’re slaving away all year in all comditions to push his dream forward! He hasn’t even gotten the Council’s approval or the funds for the project! And Mr Spudsder here, I had the pleasure of meeting him already, he’s nothing more than a profiteer and opportunist, trying to ride the coattails of Mr Sparks to fame and fortune! Arc gives a polite nod, "While your negotiation skills need work, you seem like a good man, not to mention you still technically work for me and as such, I should at least be able to assist when a crime occurs right in front of me." Arc will follow Tarian inside, "We have a small update. My compatriot here believes that your wife ought to still be alive and that this is an attempt to break or slow down negotiations between us. Such being the case, I must ask, you must have a good idea of which individual or group would want to steal your fellow workers over to their side, no? Or of a rival factory that felt pressured by your work before the strike?" Arc is trying his best to not sound insincere, but still feels himself slipping from time to time
He glances to Tarian, "Anything you feel like adding or asking Miss Tarian?"
Tarian stood before the pictures hanging on the wall, carefully inspecting them for any images of the wife Arc had mentioned. She wasn’t hard to spot; in several pictures this onyx obelisk that greeted them at the door clung to a delicate flower of an elf. They were a mismatched set—he dwarfed her—but they were clearly in love. The pair reminded her of her own parents.
Tarian listened as Arc explained their situation, while she took in the fine details of the wife: facial features, build, and especially her hands.
Tarian is attempting a full understanding of Sylvia's condition prior to her abduction. She knows she needs as much information about John's wife as possible. Here's a full suite of die rolls that might be helpful.
When Arc drew Tarian into the conversation, her head snapped up. She did a quick about face, stood with her feet apart at shoulder width, and clasped her hands together behind her back.
“Yes, Mister Cannith, I do.” She leveled her gaze at John. “But I will let Mister… ah… Krull answer yours first.”

Her build is slight and her hands are fine, delicate little things. Her face was heart shaped and her dark hair about shoulder long and braided, with her small pointed ears poking through. The elf woman on the pictures looks happy and healthy, but you see also that Krull seemed aged now compared to the pictures. You’re unsure whether that’s due to the recent events, or if it’s simply a question of older pictures. Which brings Tarianto another train of thought, particularly given how the apartment was organised. Everything here seemed too small for Krull, and by his frequent squeezing past and bumping into things, he hadn’t spent much time here yet, whereas she most probably did. Didn’t have to mean much, since he could have been very busy as a foreman and with the strike, but it could also be an indication of troubles in paradise. In the back of the apartment she spotted an easel, with pages of parchment and beautifully illustrated texts. Likely her line of work, meaning this apartment also served as her workshop. She might have to look at the illustrations next to determine whether she might have gotten herself mixed up in something. The fact they cut off her fingers might be a warning against her after all, though the fact they sent the ring along likely still pointed to Krull as the indirect target.

Thia had followed alongside Milo to the group. Standing there, her adrenaline fading, she realized she was standing amongst a group of important people, which she was not. It was group of people fighting for rights she believes they deserve. Unlike Milo, Thia doesn’t think she has anything to offer in this situation. She’d shift her weight uncomfortably, starting to feel out of place. Plus, the only person she knew was Leo.
Riiight... Leo... Thia’s stomach sank, remembering how Leo warned her, and may have even seen her on stage. Not that she actually DID anything, but she did go against his warning. But why did he warn me? What are his intentions in all this anyway? And there are the questions she really should of asked BEFORE she ended up here.

“So, Mister Krull, have there been any pressures from rivals? And if so, who’s been pressuring you?” Tarian prompted John to answer Arc’s earlier questions, and began to casually—or so she hoped it appeared—wander around the room to look at things while he spoke. She made her way over to look at the easel as she listened to his response.
Despite the words of the warforged, Thia could see multiple hurt people among the workers, guards, and the spectators of Sparks’ presentation. Most had been pushed to the ground in the struggle and had suffered scrapes and bruises, but a few of them had broken noses or cuts over their eyes and foreheads. In total, she could see about a dozen injured. It was certain that were it not for Milo’s speech, more wouldbe injured now.
Bellows, the large human worker, and the slight Ling both fumed at the half-elf now. “I know you care for your people Merrix, but don’t think you canuse our struggle for your ends. We’re doing all we can for your allies up north, but let this, today, remain a local matter!”, she said. At that, the half-elf, even more furious than before, stormed off back into the crowd, with Leo following at his heels.
Derbert Sparks took the opportunity to take Milo aside and speak to the smaller group of interested parties. “Before, you promised me support. Unfortunately it is true what that student said, funding is tentative, and there are some strong opponents within the council against this plan. I say this, because I want you to know the risks. But as a businessman, there’s no profit without some risk, and the chances to profit are plentiful. Working for the Corphyrean Coach Company, you’re going to get guaranteed orders and grazing rights along the route. I’m going to pay for your crops and beef at market prices, paid quarterly in advance. I’d need enough food to supply roughly eight thousand workers, can you provide that?“
Turning to Brandt, he added “I apologise for the outburst before, your services were appreciated. I heard you talk of a locale to spend the night?”

Milo turns to Sparks “Not just from my farm alone, but I’m always expanding . But after some words with the council to see IF we can convince them for any funding. I will see to it that other farms will contribute. I have enough to keep us going for a couple of months. Consider me your head of agricultural acquisitions.”
« Ah, yes, thanks, that was the one. I propose we lodge there for the night? », then, turning to Milo, Sparks added: « We have some funding, so I would need an estimate of how much you would need to borrow in order to ensure enough food for the workers and their families. Generally speaking, this project still requires sponsors, so finding those would be a first priority. If we can feed the workers for one quarter already, we could push ahead with construction and more easily garner support for the project. »
At this point, Bellows interjected: « Mr Sparks, how many crews do you have under contract so far? I have workers interested in joining your project and working for the company, but we would need assurances of the conditions for us and our families ».

She made her way over to look at the easel as she listened to his response.

"On the other side of the screen, it all looks so easy." --Kevin Flynn, Tron (1982)
Out of context, also applicable to Dungeons & Dragons.

Thia would sigh in relief as Leo leaves without even acknowledging her.
"Excuse me" Thia would give a hurried bow of her head and excuse herself from being an awkward observer in a conversation that she wasn't supposed to be part of.
If no one stops her:
Thinking that the normal pathway/stairs off the stage would have people gathered/leaving through there, Thia would attempt to hop off the stage area in hopes of shaving some time and fuss on her way to the injured.
