As life seems to spring back into the tavern the murmers of anticipation creep up Wallis notices Segan sigh and reach behind the bar for something, several of the servers quickly turn and rush for the bar in a practiced manner and one small patron, probably a halfling, nips out via the window which is (already) broken rather than open, everybody else seems ready to settle in for some action. The thug remains frozen although Valen can see his eyes widen slightly in what seems to be fear, after the blade materialises it is clearly fear and all the party and the man's companion see the tell-tale piss stain spreading out across his pants. As Valen delivers his threat a few of the patrons stand uneasily but none move from the areas they are standing in.

Brock will grin and sit up in his chair. Rolling his neck with a few loud cracks, would push himself away form the table and stand up. For someone as large as he was, Brock's movements were quick and precise as he moved around beside Valen, placing one of his hands on the warlocks shoulders while balling his other large hand into a tight fist. "Looks like ya made a mess of the floor friend. Are you going to clean it up... or your friends?" Brock would say in a deep threatening tone that wasn't much louder than a whisper but was loud enough for those nearby to hear. Brock would turn his head from the frozen thug to his two companions, ready to attack anyone that might try to hurt Valen or Willis.
(Ready action to attack with an unarmed strike and then bonus action to grapple if it hits) Attack: 16 Damage: 7 athletics check to grapple if it hits 25
"He, he did it not me! I don't want no trouble from your kind." The second man moves his hand carefully away from his belt and whatever he was reaching for and backs away a few steps, now within a few feet of the closed door to the street.
Round 1 over and we'll call it as Thug 1 is Held until Valen releases him, as long as it is soonish. Post at will.

Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
"Brock please none of this is necessary," Wallis exclaims rising up from the table hands out as Simon deftly scrambles onto her shoulder and his usual perch. "As for you," she adds looking to Valen, "I'm not sure where you're from but magic isn't something we just throw around here for petty slights. The man is a moron clearly but you've gained your respect back by his humiliation then point made!" She adds next her tone grave. "Best release him unless you'd prefer the lawbringer to find you a comfortable cell for the night," she adds tone even and expression serious with her warning her eyes flicking to Segan then back to the party. "Brock please," she begins anew. "I just want to make some coin. I don't need any trouble," she adds her tone softer speaking with her old friend.
Valen turns to listen to the pleadings of Brock's friend. "The law," he scoffs, "does not care much for this part of the city."
He turns back to the paralyzed man before him. "She's right though. You're not worth my time."He lowers his swords but pressed his jacket against the man's cheek. "I suppose I will save you trouble since I doubt that you could clean it thoroughly." After returning as much as he can of the man's "gift", his sword disappears as quick as it was summoned and dons his jacket. "You won't be as fortunate next time. You should run along."With a wave of his hand over his shoulder he restores his clothes to their pristine condition.
The warlock sits back down at his table, once again smoothing back any out of place hairs. After downing the remainder of his glass of wine, he releases the man with a snap of his fingers."I don't believe we've had the pleasure,"he says turning to Wallis. "Valen Havenstrite," he raises his nose and extends a hand in greeting.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Wallis Bernotto," Wallis replies looking warily at the hand but shaking it firmly. "I don't know if the law would come but either way I wouldn't press your luck," she adds still looking around the gauge the mood of the patrons as she sits back down as well.
Wallis - The patrons were shocked and frightened by the magic, nobody seems disposed to cause any trouble though.
The two men, each seemingly trying to inch towards the door without looking as though they are running away glare at the trio of adventurers but bite their tongues and don't offer further trouble. As they bump into the door having backed up all the way they become entangled with each other in a comedic turn as each tries to turn to open the door but continually bump into each other, a few hoots from one of the other drinkers brings even more colour to their cheeks and they scurry off having finally managed to open the door.
In surprisingly little time the tavern has returned to normal, customers order new drinks and the conversation is back with a vengeance as Valen feels all eyes on him. Segan is occupied for a few minutes but walks over with a scowl on his face as he drags up a chair from a nearby table and sits uninvited at the companion's table. "Feel better now, do you? Going to be worth it for the fifteen seconds of fame you'll get here for terrifying a witless idiot with balls the size of peas and his equally useless crony?" He spits on the floor, seemingly out of disgust and continues "You could have just told him to piss off, he would have laughed and bought you a drink, instead now you are going to have every knobhead on the streets looking to prove they are a big deal, don't let these two wander off, no matter how quick you are at calling that sword a knife in the back will put you in the ground easily enough. Still Comber and Bog are a couple of twats so no real harm done, not like the Watch are going to come looking, you didn't do him any actual damage."
He sits back and gestures to Fen for a drink but starts speaking again before it arrives "I wanted to talk to you, no secret that you've got not much more than the clothes you are standing up in to your names, fancy as those clothes might be your Lordship"he adds the last with a chuckle in Valen's direction "well the rooms ain't free, as you know and I'm not known for my benevolence, which again is common knowledge, so you will be needing to find a way to pay, or you have two days left here. I do come with an offer that might mean you can stay in my fine establishment for a while longer though."He turns a shouts across at the bar "Oi, where's my drink you fat-bottomed sow! Now where was I? Oh yes, the reason I needed to talk to you was to see if you'd investigate something for me." Looking pointedly at Brock he states "I saw you seeing that my girl was upset earlier, well for once it wasn't her old dad to blame but her fella, who gods only knows can't do no wrong normally." As his drink arrives he grabs it greedily downing half of it in one pull ignoring the young girl who brought it over completely until she eventually steps back, the second she does he continues "I'd love for him to be out of my life but Mirel seems to love him and she ain't a bad girl. Well this fella, Glandon, has disappeared into thin air, not like him, normally spends half his day working, if you can call it, as a spotter for some of the less nasty pickpockets up the road and then pisses away everything he could earn in here, which is his sole redeeming feature. The Watch don't have him, at least that's what we hear from people who'd know - doesn't mean they didn't do 'im in and leave him in a derelict somewhere in the Cracks or lads from another gang do the same, spoilt for choice they'd be. Could be a mark, spotted him and decided to kill him in as a thank you" he pauses and gives Valen a look, then shakes it off and continues "Tell me what you think, you interested in finding him, or at least finding out what happened? I'll make it worth your while depending on what type of result or proff you can provide but you won't go hungry and you'll have a roof over your head while you look.Do we 'ave a deal?" He looks across at the group eagerly, clearly hoping they will agree.
As Wallis mentions not wanting any trouble, and just wanting to make some honest coin... Brock would let out a sigh and rub his eyes with his large scared hand. "Yeah.. Sorry Wallis, I guess I have never been one to stay out of a fight when a buddy's in trouble" The man would say with sincerity before forcing a smile as his mind wanders for a bit. Quickly shaking his head to rid himself of thoughts of the past, he would watch as Wallis and Valen introduce themselves and let out a small laugh. "See, we all all a happy family now! Everyone knows eachother and we can figure out a way to make some money!" Brock would say moments before Segan takes a seat...
After Segan makes us his offer, Brock feels a smile spread across his face. "Well... I can't speak for my friends here.. but if it were up to me I would gladly accept right now. " He would say with a wink to Valen. "But my friend here... as you know.. has expensive and refined tastes.. he may wish to know more about what kind of additional compensation you can provide other than free room and board in this lovely establishment!" He would say as he motions to Valen before gesturing to his surroundings. "My good friend Wallis here also needs some coin to ensure that she doesn't run out of cat food..." He would say with a grin. "So can you elaborate on the *profit* part you spoke of a little more?" Brock would say as he leans back in his chair a bit.
"Yes, I do feel better in fact. I didn't need the drink and he still pissed off in case you missed it. If you are concerned with the health of your patrons maybe you should make sure your washrooms are well-stocked." Valen smiles and arches an eyebrow toward the barkeep.
"As to your proposal, I can't say that the health of some wannabe pickpocket is something that concerns me. As you said my purse is light and I don't feel like going home."
"To be honest the health of a wannabe pickpocket doesn't concern me much either, but I do care about my daughter, I'm sure you need a little more incentive, I wouldn't do anything for free, so as well as the bed and board, I'll offer you money too - it he turns up alive 50 gold and if you can prove he is dead 75?" The last part is delivered with a very dark smile. "I'm not saying that's what I prefer but 50 gold for giving me a problem I have to deal with and 75 for bringing me a problem already resolved. Tempting?"
He laughs a little "If you are interested then I'd try and find one of his crew, the Oilers, they run down by the Burning Castle and Tybalt's Market, keep an eye on your purse strings - I already asked Mirel and all she knew was that the last she saw of him, he was heading home, drunk and argumentative, towards his little room above Carrick's." He sighs, "you'll find it easy enough, just ask around." He then gets up to return to the bar as customers have started to wait in larger numbers.
"Well I say that sounds like a great deal!" Brock would say leaning forward over the table as he makes no attempt to hide his excitement. "See wallis... we may not be hunting animals but you can put your skills to work hunting a man!" he would say with a smile. "Capture and release of course" he would add with a wink. "Of course if he is dead already, I don't mind getting a little extra coin to bring back a corpse" Brock would say with a shrug before looking towards companions to gauge their reactions to the proposal.
"Tall lad, girls always seem to like him, gods know why, shock of red hair, usually looks like he just got out of bed. He usually wears pretty drab clothing, when he's tryin to not attract attention. If in the unfortunate event of you finding a corpse, check out his back, saw it once as I chased him out of Mirel's room, he has a large tattoo of some exotic beast, looks like it is flying towards you, got quite a good look as I tried to throw a knife at it hah!" Focusing on Wallis he continues "Well, as for his family I don't rightly know - he never spoke of them, oh and his accent was off, certainly from down here in the Cracks, but I don't think he was born in Dzendalin at all, maybe down south, I hear they talk slower there, that's how he did. Weren't stupid, just took days to finish a bloody sentence."

"Thats a neat trick there Valen... now if only you could make bags of coin we could actually spend we would be all set" Brock would mention with a wave of his hand before standing up from the table. "Well I think I have heard all I need... we ready to go?" The man would say taking one last swig of ale before wiping the head from his facial hair.
"...... She won't have much of use to say but sure, why not." He gestures towards the girl, Mirel, "Don't bother here for long, she has work to do later."
