Rees doesn't look up when Talien joins her, still working on the translation. (Because if it's before Grom, she's for sure not done) "Our memories are probably a bit different than yours. Most of us don't remember the day we were born or even the first few years of our lives. I have vague recollections of the couple who brought me to the orphanage, I was about two or three at the time. I have no memory of my parents -- I'm really not the best person to ask about this sort of thing. I suppose it's not really odd to get larger, especially for me, it's just what kids do. They grow up. Getting old is a part of life. Different creatures age at different rates -- there are elves who live hundreds of years where humans don't live nearly so long. But yeah, eventually I'll get old and die if I'm lucky. I might be young still and die. Nearly happened earlier and that's hardly the first time."She'll look up at him then, studying his face for a moment before continuing. "None of us are out to deceive you -- there are a lot of things about this place that you don't know but that the rest of us do and we take that knowledge for granted. We assume you know as we do because....people here just do. You cannot fly off the handle and think the worst when you're confronted with something you might not like. It's just not that simple."
Alten returns to the main room from his prayers and meditations. If anyone is paying particular attention, he has a pensive expression on his face. He doesn't say anything to start. He sits down with his back against the west wall, pulls out some rations and begins eating. He's clearly not focused and just automaticaly putting food in his mouth and chewing.

I imagine grom walks up about this time and makes a comment about how humans on average live to be 60-80years.. and then says that he is almost double that in age and for a dwarf that's only about half your life...
Then notices the paper from Rees and questions it like earlier
“It is alright, Meepo, you have to train before you can do it with ease. Even I miss occasionally and I have had my bow a long time,” Arxius tells the Kobold as she crouches beside him. A frown crosses her features briefly, a stray thought crossing her mind. She sees an elder elf with an ornate longbow, crouching and holding out his hand.
She stands up quickly. “Help me move these Goblins to the wall over there and you can use them for practice.”
Meepo leans his shield against the wall and struggles to help you drag the bodies. When you have the bodies in place Meepo stops and says, "Meepo usually not allowed to play with food before eating it. Meepo usually too hungry anyway. But, Meepo want get better with crossbow! We practice then eat?"
"It is not playing, Meepo. We are training. It is important," Arxius tells him. She sits down - cross-legged for the first time - beside him. "Aim for the bits you do not wish to eat. I want you to steady yourself. Try and quell your excitement. Take aim at the first Goblin and fire when you are ready."
“Meepo looks at you quizzically, “Meepo not picky. Meepo eat what Meepo can gets,” he shrugs and picks up his crossbow. Closing one eye he takes aim at Dot’s head and says, “Training! Meepo ready steady! ...What is quell?”
Attack: 13 Damage: 0.
"It means suppress," Arxius tells him. "Hold it inside instead of letting it overwhelm you. Helps you to focus on what you're doing instead of other things you're feeling or thinking. Did closing one eye assist you in your aiming?"

You will teach me then Rees? All of the things I don't know about your realm? The world here smells different, and it looks different too. We do not have a big ice land like the Tundra and few 'natural' places that I have seen. Trees and grass we had, but I had never seen a full forest before. To Chatra:
It's been a long day. Any lingering injuries, problems or concerns we can deal with now or need to know for tomorrow?

Rees looks up from the parchment she's been translating, writing the decoded message in common under the coded words. "It's the note that the Ratman had on him. I'm just working on the code." She'll show him the half-decoded parchment.
Interesting... Grom strokes his beard..
Ooc: any roll I can make to try and help rees with this?
You can make a straight Intelligence check while looking over the parchment.

You don’t immediately recognize the language used in the message, however after studying the original message and reading over what Rees has “decoded” so far your wizardly mind starts to develop an understanding. After another few minutes of studying the text you believe the original cipher is using ROT13, a simple letter substitution cipher that replaces a letter with the 13th letter after it, in the alphabet.
DM Note: Rees, if could please share what the “decoded” portion was with Grom.

Chatra pulls his lute out of his bag that is setting next to him against the stone wall. He looks at the instrument longingly.
"You know Alten.. all I have ever wanted is to become famous. I'm not sure that will ever happen though," he says gloomily as he begins to strum the lute.
Live thru this and I guess you'll be on your way to solving the broke problem. If you're tired of running, then stop.
As far as fame, I don't know what to tell you. Fame is not something I seek. It seems to me that fame is more properly a by-product of your actions, for good or for ill. I don't think it is a goal. I don't think most famous folks were trying to be famous.
But what do I know, I don't know any famous people personally.
