All learned wizards, mighty sorcerers, master thieves, accomplished rangers, champions, and exalted heroes come from some humble beginning. They are not born great, but become powerful over time - through many a trial and tribulation. Bards tell tale and sing songs of their heroic deeds in taverns and on stage all across the world, but this glamour is not easily won! There are dragons to slay, hordes of goblins to cull, puzzles and riddles to solve, and journeys to be made! Oh, the journeys that will be made. And...this story.. is just the beginning of your mighty tale!
As most great tales begin we start yours with a prologue. Each of you is on the road to the Village of Oakhurst to find the Ol’ Boar Inn and the poster of a mysterious message requesting assistance with recovering some lost, or stolen artifacts. Please post a character introduction. Tell us a little about your character i.e. what they look like and what their motivations are for answering this summons. I will begin the official story on April 22 where we will pick up in the Ol’ Boar Inn and the party will meet for the first time.
The door opens to the Ol' Boar Inn and in walks a Warforged Juggernaut. (The room quiets as people turn too look at him but does not become silent) He is larger than most of his kind at the height of 6''10''. He has metal plates and stone that have been polished to a shine and are physically part of his body, and his joints seem to be made of what looks like could be from a white Ash tree or possibly trees. He has a metal plates for a face with only eye sockets and a slot were his voice originates from (it is formed into a jagged overlarge smile that does not change), and an intricate rune carved on the forehead and as he steps in from outside, his eyes go from blue to green as he looks around....and then back to blue as he approaches who appears to be the owner of the inn. He walks up to the owner and takes a seat, seemingly practiced as he has 2 massive Great Swords strapped to his back in and X along with a pack. He waits for the man to ask him how he can help him, Tailen then asks the Inn Keeper in a deep grating voice. I seek coin to add to my collection, what is this job exactly? As he is talking he pulls out a strip of cloth and starts to polish his metal and stone ingrained into his body.
A half-elf in chain mail is sitting at the bar, drinking an ale. There is a glaive propped next to him and a heavy crossbow looped at his side. A pack sits on the floor at his feet.
The barkeep is holding a finger up to the half-elf while pouring another drink. They both hear the Warforged ask its question. The half-elf looks over his shoulder at the Warforged. With a grin and a raised eyebrow, says
"I was just asking this good barkeep to be pointed in the direction of the author of a notice on the board in the square. It sounds like you saw the same one I did. I'm Alten, by the way. You're an interesting . . . .what? Exactly? I don't believe I've ever seen one like you."
OOC - What realm are we set in and how common are Warforged? I'm assuming core Faerun, but your versioni might have have Warforged running around more commonly.

The Warforged Juggernaut looks at the half-elf, eyes glowing blue and says, I am one forged for the war. They call our kind Warforged. He pauses and adds before he turns back to the Inn keeper awaiting an answer to his original question. My name is Talien
This story starts long before today in a village called Oakhurst. Kerowyn Hucrele, the matriarch of the Royal local family called to her Dwarf allies in hopes of them supplying aid. The town was in a economic down turn and public order and overall hope was lost. She needed something to bring Trade and hope back to her people. Clan Blackbanner the long allies of Oakhurst choose to send one of there Senior Council members Grombrindal. He and a small team would travel south to Oakhurst and help the town in any way possible. They spent Months training the local blacksmiths and some of the brew-masters on how to improve there Ale. Grom' ened up spending alot of time with the royal family and ended up helping the with the young prince who is a Knight in training (Talgen Hucrele), and Grom espically took favor with the young princess (Sharwyn Hucrele) who has an eye for the arcane. she would spend hours and hours reading his books and studying his scrolls, and she even took to learning Dwarvish!
After 6months of living among the humans and and helping this town grow and work its way back to healthy status. Grom' was given honary Noble staus and was given a seat at the royal family table any time. Shortly after him and his team left and headed back North! - a few of the dwarfs on the team took to staying in Oakhurst.
After a few months of being home Grombrindal recieved a urgent summons back to Oakhurst. -when he arrived back he was told by Kerowyn both her Son and Daughter had gone missing!!!! Grom comes to find out Talgen & Sharwyn set off to go explore the Sunless Citadel and try and recover a relic, and have not returned for over a month.
Grom set off to find some fellow members who might be up for a bit of adventure and fun!
Sitting in the Corner, alone at a table. Long White beard, handlebar mustache, Hair on top of his head spiked up and pointed to a tip.. Horn of ale in his hand.. you see the most unique Dwarf you have ever laid eyes on.. that is if you have seen many dwarfs this far south before. leaned up aginst the table next to him is his very unique RUNE AXE
Suddenly at the ol’ Boar inn the door opens and all you hear is the uplifting tunes of a lute. My oh my it is quite thrilling To hear. When you look you see a little halfling not even close to 3 feet. If you had to say he might be 2’8” bit your not sure.
But in his hand is a lute and on his lips is a song he’s singing. As you listen to this little halfling with short blond curly hair and green eyes this is what you hear
hey hey I hear you say,
on your board i saw today,
a hero you need , a hero to see
well don’t you worry because you have Chatra Dalwin , the chap you need!
Laughing at the Halfling, "Come, my good man. It seems you are looking for the same information as I and my new friend here are. I'm Alten and this is - err, Taylin, I think it said."
He turns back to the barkeeper.
"Whoever posted that advertisement seems to be favored by some god today. What are the odds that an Half-Elf, a Halfling, and a - err - Warforge(?) - would all show up at the same basic moment, inquiring about it? Especially in a sleepy little berg like this."

Talien finishes poslishing his metal and stone plating and pulls out one of his two-handed swords strapped to his back in one fluid movement with his right hand and starts polishing it, oblivious to the slight unease everyone else in the bar has at the action of him swiftly brandishing a massive Greatsword.
"Hey big guy, most of us wait until we're in the privacy of our own rooms in the dead of night to, ah, polish our swords. Not something usually done in polite company."

Grombrindal speaks up to the group... "Friends If Adventure and Coin are what u seek then come sit and let's await the man who posted the add. I also have a proposition for everyone.. but we are still waiting on some guests to arrive..."
"Yeah... I'm starting to think maybe this was a mistake," Rees said, watching from the corner of the tavern as a strange group began to inquire about the posting. She shifted back into the shadows as best she could (she was fairly small, though not nearly as small as that halfling who'd just walked in) and shook her head, looking over at her companion. Long black hair framed her pale face and her dark eyebrows pulled low over icy pale blue eyes. "That's an awful lot of competition for this thing and we don't even know what it is or, more importantly, how much they're paying." Her teeth worried her bottom lip and for just the briefest of moments they appeared too sharp for her human form but it was quick enough that no one was likely to notice except for the woman sitting across from her. "On the other hand," she mused, "If it's drawn this much attention, maybe it's a lot of money. What do you think?"
"Are ye a soothsayer perhaps, Master Dwarf? You know the man who authored the posting? There was no time nor date set on the sign, at least as far as I noticed."
Alten picks up his stuff and moves to the Dwarf's table and introduces himself.
Tailen turns his head and looks at you for a few seconds wondering what is not polite about taking care of his weapon before replying. I am preparing for battle, I maintain all of my war tools to keep them in top fighting condition, including myself. He then reruns to polishing is Greatsword
Chatra giggles with delight and takes a big gulp of his drink.
Ahhh. Thanks for the ale! Gromindale is it? Well obviously you have heard of the legendary hero Chatra Dalwin, slayer of dragons and goblins and finder of peace! For obviously you must have for why else would you buy this handsome halfling a drink ! Ahhh ,well enough then, pleasure to meet you and do not fear because it is I that is here. The one and only, the great and wonderful Chatra Dalwin at your service here.
So where is the man who posted the signs for surely he wants to meet the legend that is me.
Tales from the Yawning Portal, Part 1:
The Sunless Citadel
Coming 22 April, 2019
All things roll here: horrors of midnights,
Campaigns of a lost year,
Dungeons disturbed, and groves of lights;
Echoing on these shores, still clear,
Dead ecstasies of questing knights —
Yet how the wind revives us here!
— Arthur Rimbaud

My name is Grombrindale of Clan Blackbanner!
I am not the one who posted the ad sadly, but I do have an offer I collected back in Oakhurst
I have been sent here to group together a band of adventurers who are looking to make some coin and possibly some fame.

"Well met, Grombrindale of Clan Blackbanner. Many thanks for the drink.
While fame is not something a servant of Torm strives for, some coin would be nice at this point. How many people are you looking for?"
