 Assassin elects that the middle door in the foyer would be the best option to examine. As she fazes through that door, not detecting any traps, she finds herself in a darkened library. With her keen vision, Assassin sees something on the table in the middle of the room. It looks as though a pile of black, gray, and green dust has been smashed and scattered along the table. It is as though the dust was suddenly dropped into the air and went splat. However, she clearly sees a jaw of rotted human teeth near where the... head(?) would be.

Perception 13

 Well... despite the uh... less than stellar roll, Caster can indeed determine something.

Whatever sliced the man clearly tore through him, as if he was stabbed and then mauled. It was clearly something organic, rather than a weapon.

Caster will rejoin Oz and inform him of the scene. 

Oz tries to look stoic but shivers a bit and flips up his hood, “Thank you, Caster... So, what do you think happened here?”

“The man looked ravaged by a beast. But a gigantic one. Given how long so it was, it’s hard to say. It could have been Berserker, but something feels off.” Caster stays in his ethereal form.

Oz looks up at you, “What, so like big claws or something? Maybe it was that pet undead that Allison kept around... but I guess that wouldn’t make much sense if this were her house?”

(I forgot about the undead!) 

Caster nods sagely.

Sparrow Sarai seems to have something to say, from her hopping to and fro on Imani’s shoulder, but she does not change back to a speaking-capable form. 

Imani looks at Sarai bemusedly, then, with dawning realization, attempts to reach out to Virgil and finds... Nothing.

"Jesus, take the wheel," she mutters. "That stupid frog died again, didn't he? Hop once for yes."

Sarai-sparrow nods, instead.

"Here's the deal: it's possible that coming here unannounced and without a plan may have been unwise." She pauses, waiting for someone to jump on that. "That said, I think Margrave is ABSOLUTELY still alive, or at least dead but Still in the game. Of all the players in this war, she and her chauvinist-in-chief are the only two I'm interested in playing with."

She looks down at Sarai. "Can you, you know, tweet at caster and tell him what got Virgil? Dream can't find any traps, which means he was targeted by something sentient. That means we have a target, assuming we can find it."

The sparrow nods, and if Caster is near, will sing the story of Virgil’s death to him. <<Rock imp was sliced by flying glass, but not mechanically powered. After he died, a handful of shards floating in midair down the way simply fell to the ground, as if dropped. Didn’t see anything holding them, or anyone leave the area.>>

Caster translates. “The strange imp has been killed by flying glass. The glass shards seem to have been animated, but no one else has appeared.” The 

Imani purses her lips. "Alright, so let’s just go there. We’re made of sterner stuff than Virgil; let’s just stick together and see what we can see.”

She pauses, suddenly and uncharacteristically stoic. “My dad... My father once said that spiders hides in the shadows because, deep down, they fear their prey. Whoever is here may not be an enemy, but I’m guessing margrave or one of her pets is waiting to pick us off in increasing order of perceived threat.”

As Imani says the word, “Margrave,” the air goes still. The word echoes for a moment and hangs in the air, like a cold wind. Down the hall, the word reverberates, “Margrave...” and along the other hall, “Maargraave...” As the word echoes, the walls shake with intensity, as a voice, or voices, scream, “MAAAAGRRAAAVE!!” Suddenly, the picture frame goes flying toward Imani’s head, Attack: 15 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. bludgeoning damage.
The picture frame collides with Imani’s forehead and cracks some of her frozen armor as it impacts. For a brief moment, Imani catches dust collecting over a shape, but in an instant, the dust drops to the floor.

Caster draws his staff, and looks around to see if he can tell what's happening...

Arcana: 16

Caster understands that this is likely a spiritual event. Ghosts? Spirits? Supernatural hoohocky? Yes, likely one of those. However, Caster does not have any specifics on what is going on.

OOC > Can Sarai use Primeval Awareness in bird form? Probably not, since it uses a spell slot, and she can’t cast spells in bird form. 

Imani rubs a finger at the cool aura protecting her forehead and sneers. "Gonna have to do better than that, Allie!"
