Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With graceful nimbleness and precision, Drakus slays the last remaining sheep. As it’s eyes burn bright red in its death. It explodes, causing 6 fire damage to Drakus and Marley.
As (I believe only Drakus is unconscious). The high pitched whirring of the portal dies down and the sparks of electricity diminish. The blue orb surrounding the courtyard fades away. Your other soldiers that were held at bay, rush to your aid.
Quinton - “Tend to their wounds, somebody figure out what just happened and what the **** that thing is, Pronto!”
The soldiers take a med kit to Drakus and keep him stable, but still knocked out.
Quinton walks up to the group - “How is everyone? How’d’**** y’all manage to slay this monstrosity?” He says as he kicks it, then pats Marley on the shoulder.
Andris looks at Quinton and pulls one of the creature's spikes out of his summoned frost armor. "Magic, Sir." he said while step give a salute. "That thing that came through, regular weapons didn't seem to do much." He tapped his sword and continued, "Magic did though. I summoned this sword and another made his spear magic and that seemed effective. Though, this creature had some friends. They were like flying demonic sheep... that exploded. Those are best to be taken from range."
Seeing that Drakus was knocked unconscious, Ewan returns to his half-elven form and says "now-now, horned one - we don't need to have any deaths today," and casts healing word at 2nd level.
Drakus receives 8 hp from Ewan's spell.
Once he had tended to the tieflings wounds, he turned to Quinton. "Demons... near our sacred site. This does not bode well. My circle mentioned something about portals to the Abyss, usually very unstable. The fact that demons are coming through and surviving is a bad sign," he added to what Andris said.
Quinton points and yells at another soldier. “Go, Get the mages to inspect this thing before it disappears.”
Turning his attention back to the group. “See, I was right before. You guys need to be quick, I’m glad you listened. You might have earned yourself some special assignments in the future.” As he spits out some blood and smacks away a soldier trying to tend to his wounds.
A firbolg runs up in the standard armor Quinton says “double the guard around the portal. Get your men here, now!”
a general chaotic hustle and bustle of men working to fix things up.
Quinton turns back to the group. “Go back to your bunks, you’ve earned some rest. I’ll be in shortly.”
Marley, realising the danger is over, relaxes and the soft floating lights around her diminish as her scars reappear. She wipes her Warhammer on the grass to get rid of the dripping blue innards of the creature before it hardens and lets out a long sigh.
"I hope this doesn't mean more laps" she muttered under her breath and follows the others back to the bunks
Flux taking quite a beating in that exchange that just occurred continues to lay on the ground for a few minutes. "I'll catch up with you guys in a bit I think I'm just gonna lay here for a moment. Don't mind me though I'll be there in just a moment this ground is just very comfortable." and with the last of his strength used to put on his facade Flux rolls onto his side and just continues to lay on the ground for at least 15 minutes as long as no one tries to stop him from doing so.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hearing that flux was heard, and that they were in no immediate danger, Ewan said to him "Come along, Genasi. The orcish one is right, the beds are better," and casts another healing word (this one will be first level, as flux is still up).
"Thank you Marley I appreciate it, you as well Ewan, a little rest and I'll be back in tip top shape I promise!" and Flux will continue to lay there until it is time to sleep.
Ewan will sit on his bunk for a little while. He wasn't able to get up into the trees anymore due to his injury, but in his other forms it was always a possibilty. With the action Ewan had today though, even he couldn't resist the welcome comfort of a rest indoors. He laid awake for some time, before getting a rest.
(OOC: DM: Unless anything happens overnight, guessing we get to rest, just let us know if we do and if we can get a short or the long rest after that battle.)
As you wait for any news on what happened or Sergeant Quinton to come in and debrief everyone. Nothing really ever happens. You’ve gotten used to military time, used to the waiting. You eventually drift off to sleep if you haven’t already (long rest). Waking up in the morning. You get ready and gather your things. The sound of others teams practicing and drilling echo throughout camp. Smoke begins to rise as you wait in line for breakfast. The normal oatmeal, rationed jerky, and dried fruits. The rest of the soldiers eating are all a buzz about what happened yesterday. One half orc runs up to Flux “Is it true? The thing had 10 eyes?” Another dwarf pats Marley in the back “bout time you put that hammer to use!” One of the medics that help Drakus checks in with him as he stretches out to shake his hand. The whole group is being pestered with questions.
(will wait for response for poll before continuing)
Flux probably still sporting a few burns from the exploding sheep "Craziest battle I've been in yet! Should have seen the size of the thing and how it could inhale and exhale to double or half its size. The claws alone the size of your hands. Luckily for you guys my squad just happens to be the best in the house and we were first on the scene to take it out!"
Andris nods in agreement with Flux while polishing his armor. Without looking up he says, "Don't forget about the exploding sheep." He looks at the cadet and says, "you should ask about the exploding sheep."
You have your fill of the usual rations. Breaking off into your respective teams awaiting your assignment of the day, Quinton walks up to you.
”Alright heroes”. The tone is only half sarcastic which is different from his usual blunt mannerisms. “Y’all on patrol duty today, walk and guard the South Road That heads towards Hammerton. Don’t go passed the river. Make your way back in at sun down and you’ll be replaced.”
Hanmerton is a medium sized town about two days travel away. It’s a smithy town that is largely responsible for all the weapons and metal framework for the camp. There is the Alyse River naked after the Kings daughter Alyse. That’s about a quarter day’s travel down the road. Knowing the distance you would know that you’ll make the trip back and forth several times throughout your day. Geared up and ready to go you go pass the South wall and are pointed down a dirt path road. The road stretches through the Pine Forest that covers the land for much of the geography of the South until you reach the Coast.
Waking down the path you are faced with a decision: keep the party together and traverse up and down the path, or split up in groups and patrol areas. Splitting up you know is more effective but can be more dangerous. Staying together you know is Safe for you guys, but might let something slip by a little more easily.

“Ewan. Thank you.”

She carries him into their room and lays him gently down on his bunk

Drakus doesn't wait for sleep to take him, he flops onto his bunk and sleeps without removing any gear.
