"Business partner only, and he doesn't mind because I'm out here making him money."Zsena barks out a little laugh "Anyway I think we are due a break, enjoy your rest my friend." She makes her way off to her own wagon as they change over.
OOC - sorry, got a little bit out of time sync there, Zsena walking back to her wagon is the start of the group meetup and I'll save Ophelia's Perception roll for the guard duty shift.
Anyone wanting to speak to each other, please feel free to. I'll come back to this either later today (nine or ten hours) or tomorrow (20 hours or so).
I know that Grant is without internet access most of the time for at least a few more days so if necessary I will bot Kai.

Gryffensidles up next to Opheliaand whispers, "That woman asks a lot of questions. They might be innocent enough, but we are proving ourselves too capable and it is drawing attention."
OOC: My apologies for the recent absence a family member took ill and that became my focus above other things. I am however back home now and will continue to post/play.
"Speak for yourself", the half-elf whispers back with a smile. "I merely returned fire, along with the rest of the caravan. The fact that I expertly hit one of the bandits in the neck from 100 feet is besides the point. Any fool with a crossbow could get lucky and do similar."
She goes quiet for a second, thinking, before speaking again. "Perhaps you should curb your heroic tendencies in future; let the cart go next time, metaphorically speaking. If we do happen to integrate ourselves into the Ameni criminal underbelly, you should probably suppress the urge to rescue kittens from trees, or help old women home with their purchases from the market."
Gideon thinks he sees a bandit in the scrobland soounds his horn and vharges off only too find himself about to battle a young sapling, his felloow guards are not amused.
Later on during her watch Ophelia is walking near to Gryffen's wagon, where he should be asleep. As she is aboout to pass soomething gives her pause, did she see the little blanket covering the door twitch?

The hairs on Ophelia's arms stand on end as she catches movement in her peripheral vision. The wagon entrance was protected from what little wind there was, and having traveled together for several days now, she was aware of the habits of her companions. Gryffen should be asleep, but he could also be awake for any one of the myriad of reasons people wake up in the night. Not taking any chances while on guard, especially after Gryffen's comments to her, she silently draws her daggers.
Quietly slinking across the grass to the wagon entrance, Ophelia presses herself into the side of it. She listens keenly for clues as to who is inside, and attempts to peer through any gaps between the cloth and the entrance frame, thankful for her elven heritage in the darkness.
Ophelia feels a sense of apprehension as she closes in although she cannot explain why, inching closer she sees Gryffen lying in his bed, asleep but clearly suffering from some form of night terror, his small body seems too be trying to wriggle but it is almost as if he is being held in place. There is no sound except for the ragged breathing of the halfling.

Fighting the urge to watch and hope the halfling's turmoil ends on its own, Ophelia enters the wagon after a few seconds, quickly checking the interior for anything amiss.
Investigation: 15
Should everything appear to be normal, she will sheathe her daggers and sit with Gryffen, removing any covers and stroking his face to try and soothe him.
Almost the second Ophelia enters the wagon something changes and Gryffen seems to relax for some reason, he rolls over and begins to settle into a more balanced breathing pattern.
Ophelia sees nothing unusual in the wagon, and finds nothing out of place.

Pushing his mount forward to the next rise Gideon casts an eye back down towards the caravans, all seems quiet, people sleeping for the most part, movement catches his eye as a figure moves between the wagons but he pays it no attention. Returning his focus to the road Gideon checks his surroundings.
Staying with her companion for a few moments longer, the half-elf steps outside the wagon when she feels that whatever was affecting Gryffen has subsided. She resumes her patrol round the campsite, always glancing at the entrance to the halfling's wagon whenever it comes into view.
Morning comes around with little to note, everyone comes together as Alson tells them that they are now getting to the last day where they might expect trouble and to be on guard. Once they have gotten through the last few hills he assures them they will be on the plains in front of Ameni and bandits do not wish to get caught out in the open by the protectors of the city and so do not stray from the hills.
As they move out the hills seem very steep in places and press against the travelers, the day is overcast and gloomy and a light rain starts up as they near lunchtime.
Kai and Gideon are both on duty and for once Ophelia and Gryffen are a bit further up the line and so can see the head of the caravan.
Perception rolls from everyone please.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gryffenawakens feeling a little more like himself. He even brushes the horses after breakfast and feeds them each an extra carrot before the caravan gets underway. Though he still has some trouble getting them going in the right direction and avoiding all of the potholes and bumps, Gryffenand the horses start the day on more friendly terms.
The group are alert, except for Ophelia who is unusually distracted the outriders occasionally moving out to check the sides of the route but nothing is seen. As time goes by the caravan starts to reach the end of the hills, as the last ones come into sight the sound of horses surges up, although they are still a fair way away it is clear that there is a large number of riders heading straight for the caravan. In the front rank is a standard with a very dark blue background with what appears to be a snake, golden in colour curving it's way from top to bottom. The standard itself must be very large to be visible from hundreds of yards
"Slow the caravan, be on guard, this is new." Alson calls back to the others, amid a growing swell of talking as the various drivers and guards speculate on what is happening. There are at least 30 riders, they move like a military unit and it is clear that there will be no victory for the caravan if it would come to blows.
How would the party like to react?
