Up until this point, Varax had been listening in on the bubbling conversations passing around. He stood there, shrouded in shadows and gray-blue cloak. With a grin, he removes his cloak with a flourish! In a single move, he winds it up and tosses it over the back of an empty seat. "Good evening to you, my friends!" He calls out jubilantly. The tall, red skinned man pulls off the thick leather strap from over his shoulder and sets aside the large two-handed sword in the corner. Even with just a glance, its obvious that the weapon is taller than he is! Still, even brandishing such a menacing weapon, the man seems quite exuberant. He flashes a sharp-toothed smile as his golden eyes flair under dark horns that swoop back from his brow and past his temples. Lovely dark hair comes down to his shoulders.
"Ah, dearest Natalia. Would you be so kind as to provide a mead and a meat pie for me as well? Many thanks, my dear!"He gives a chuckles and sits down in a chair.
"Well, I'm glad we are all here at last! A job to do. Coin to be made. A fine day this is indeed, yes?" He looks around to the others for a moment, but then gives another chuckle "Oh yes, where are my manners? My friends, you may call me Varax. It will be a pleasure working along side you, I'm sure!"
As soon as her meal was served, Niche quickly started to wolf down the food at a rather alarming rate, somehow managing to not choke on anything. She only paused when she heard one of the humans address her, “Om, me? It’s ‘Neesh’ ahctuwally.” She swallowed her mouthful before pushing the pepper jar to Kal, needing to actually almost stand up to move it all the way, “You know, like a small space or one of those hollows in the wall where they display statues.”
Her head turned sharply upon the red tiefling’s entrance, her gazing lingering a little on his golden eyes before quickly averting her gaze, mumbling a greeting before going back to her meal.
Natalia leaves the room, and about a minute later she returns with an ale for Bran and a mead and meat pie for Varax, all on a platter with 3 pitchers. She sets them all down in the center of the table and says Here is some more ale, mead and water she nods at Niche. I will be back in a few minutes to see if you need anything else. She then slides back past Sildar, returning back to the main common area of the inn.

Rolling his eyes. My apologies. Niche also means 'very narrow or highly specialized application'. Your name also categorize your skills?
Picks up the pepper and applies it liberally to his food. Thank you.

Varax raises his mug to Kaldor, recognizing his greeting. That's when he notices Niche's gaze lingering on him. For a moment, he locks his golden eyes on hers and flashes a million-gold smile before she turns back to her meal
“Ahh sure? I mean, it’s mainly because I can fit into pretty tiny spaces but yea, I guess. Not that I’ve been uh, trained in anything specifically like you.” Niche had no idea about this other meaning of her name but tries to play it off cool.
“Dunno much about Gundren by the way, but a guy who’s willing to pay for our meal and giving part of our payment upfront can’t be too bad~“ she seems rather happy about the prospects of obtaining gold coins before she manages to catch herself and just smiles a bit sheepishly.

Listen kid. You seem pretty young & inexperienced. Nothing wrong with that - everybody's got to start somewhere.
But remember, everyone has an angle.
And partial payment up front for contract jobs is SOP. Don't mean shit as to his morals. Most people are some mix of good and bad anyway.

Yeah a down payment up front is just solid business practice, especially for caravans, Gundrens set to make a lot more off of this successful delivery than what hes already paid us and this way he as theoretically bought our loyalty. You won't get far in this business without a good reputation so it behooves us to hold up our side of the bargain. Still Gundren is generally a good egg. Bran quaffs his drink and smacks his lips
He and his brothers have a good reputation amongst the dock workers. They’re a cantankerous lot but they’ll work hard if the coins good. Don’t know this Sildar gentleman though. He nods in Sildars direction If I were a gambling man I would say he is here to protect Gundrens investment
Niche held Kaldor’s gaze for a bit, her mouth briefly corners up into a smirk but goes back to her wide-eyed look almost immediately after, making you doubt if you saw a smirk at all, “Of course, you’re the boss.” She nodded with content as she downed the last piece of ham, “I guess it’ll be a learning experience for me.”
When Bran spoke up in favour of Gundren, she turned her attention to him with a look of interest, hoping to hear a bit more about this dwarf. When Sildar was brought into the conversation, she piped up with a question to the silent man, “Are you going to be joining us too? Have you done this before?”
(OOC: What does Sildar’s outfit look like btw? Is he like a soldier or more a villager/traveller look? )

Kal frowns a bit, both at what he might have seen and at her words.
I'm no boss. Just a grunt. I do my job and I do it well.
Every day is a learning experience. Least it should be.

I will be protecting Gundren, were he goes I will also go, unless directed otherwise. Sildar responds with a higher voice than you would expect, also avoiding the question. He has a set of full set of blackened leather on, including chaps, boots, shoulder pads, and gloves that come up to the elbow, and a purple cape. The weapons you have seen on him happens to be 2 short swords at each side attached to his belt, a shield strapped to his back, and a dagger strapped to a thigh. There is a bow and quiver of arrows against the wall that might also be his, but you are not certain. He is a human, slightly taller than normal, with medium length dark brown hair bound back in a bun, currently with a shadow on his face of stubble. All of his gear looks worn but well taken care of and still fully functional, but the cape however seems new and is accented with green trim.
Varax kicks his legs up onto the table and leans back in his chair "Sildar. All work and no play, hm? Well, I can certainly respect a man with a strong sense of purpose. I also respect a man who is openly armed to the teeth!"He lets out a laugh before taking another big swig from his mug.
Sildar just looks at you with his cold green eyes, expression blank, and he does not respond to you. He just continues to stand there listening and watching to the group. About a minute passes and Natalia walks in with a meat pie and a cup and gives it to Sildar saying You must be hungry as well, eat up. He nods at her as a thank you and takes a chair at the table amongst you and begins to eat wordlessly.
Natalia darling, could I please have an ale? Bran asks sweetly knowing he pushed his luck with the rum
Anybody know anything about this Rockseeker? Just met him this morning.

Sildar says nothing, just remains standing there. Silent and still, but always listening.

Hey Sildar. Where'd your boss go? Not that I don't appreciate free food and drink, but when are we gettin' down to business?
