Tobias gives Eldeth a nod. "Sounds like a good idea." As the others begin their routine for the "evening", Tobias starts his ritual. He begins a quiet chant over the bandit's weapon and after some time the blade begins to glow as if was being heated in a forge, though no heat is felt. With the item now looking white-hot, the former blacksmith starts to mime the motions of reshaping the weapon as if he were at the anvil.
When the ritual comes to an end, Tobias let's out a sigh and steps back to examine his work. "Hmm, if Gairlik could see me now," he says to himself thinking back to his time spent apprenticing under the dwarf. He then presents Eldeth with her new pick.
Verim wakes, he pours over his notes from the past few days then pulls out his sickle, he rotates it, inspects the lines and its curves. He inspects the engravings on the hilt, the small carvings etched in and imbedded in the metalwork. Verim simply concentrates and remembers when he first got his sickle, closing his eyes, the snake once again starts to slither down his face, past his neck, his breast down to his arm, then his hand, the snake shimmers as it’s mouth consumes the hilt, the sickles curve making it harder but the snake continues, the acid once again eating at the metal, scales appear on the woodwork as it begins to shed its skin and bind itself to this blade. Verim opens his eyes once again and stares at the sickle, he flinches back in fear of the snake but as he concentrates he feels he is the one in control of it, he smiles at his progress of changing the object, he thinks to himself “A tool to sew seed, a tool for war also” he grips, tightly, the white of his knuckles coming through, he smiles, not in fear but in being able to harness his power. Verim looks at his shield and using his free hand transfers he light from his eyes to bind to the shield, he then in a swift motion reaches and places it on his back, tightening his headscarf, kissing his amulet and joining everyone else, he feels for the first time, in a long time..... free. He thinks of yesterday’s events, thinking of his actions, he now has the chance to start something new with his companions, some new life and a new start.
Verim trying to stay upbeat but still in his mellow voice, deep and raspy
“All quiet on the watch? We will have to make up great distance today from our loss of time but I believe we can do this, together, does anyone know what direction we are going? Have we come across anything we recognise as a landmark point? I’d very much like to find some sort of civilisation soon, if we know how close we are I hope we can push harder than before, I’ll aid in light and if I look for ingredients on my way I hope I can look into the medicinal properties of the plant life down here, I’d be interested to find out what works, and what doesn’t.
Verim will focus on foraging and identifying plant life
El continues to carve the small statuette, paying particular attention to the eyes. What was once a small piece of wood is slowly becoming something quite frightening, thinking about Ilvara with her whip. Frightening but also slightly relieving, you’ve all made progress and you’re heading away from the evil woman.
Eldeth takes the pick from Tobias and swings it a couple of times, it’s well weighted and surprisingly well crafted. “Thank you Tobias. I will call it Torrwr, it means breaker in Dwarven.
After Verim’s Sickle merges with the snake, he feels ready for another day. Excited about the thought of finding something new to add to his knowledge of the Underdark and health remedies.

Cyndral makes a few notes in his book as he finishes packing his belongings for the day's trek, primarily focusing upon how refreshing it is to have the optimism of people like El in these trying times. He tilts his head a bit, wondering at his inclination to write something so emotionally motivated in what is supposed to be an academic notebook, but he tucks it away with a shrug as he rises, beginning to make the rounds to everyone in the camp and asking if they're feeling rested and ready for the day, inquiring about any lasting injuries or illnesses, and generally trying to feel out everyone's mental state and note anyone who may need some motivation or cheering. Whenever possible, he uses his spoken languages (Common, Elven, Undercommon) to have the conversation, believing that actually hearing a voice is much more comforting than projecting thoughts into minds. When he's finished the rounds, he stretches lightly before addressing the group as a whole,
"Are we ready to set out?"
(OOC: If anyone would like to inject a particular interaction into Cyndral's making the rounds, feel free. He's just sort of trying to play morale officer and keep everyone on the sunny side.)

"I appreciate the help friend, but I feel I'm a much better scout simply because I can go ahead in the dark and see quite far without needing light which might give away my location... Stay back and help collect supplies as I've been showing you instead." Shishakli replies, trying to be as gentle as possible ((straight CHA check to Gnarles 18, just for funsies)) and then looking to the rest of the group says "I'll go slightly ahead and keep an eye out. Follow when you're all ready."stealth20; survival20
Gnarls bristles a bit, trying to push down his feelings of uselessness in this foreign environment. Logic blinded by pride, Gnarls is unconvinced by his friends argument, but decides not to push things and grumbles "I'll try and stay out your way but remain close enough should you need me".
(As the day progresses Gnarls will realize he is being prideful and stupid and fade back a bit to focus on foraging)
El gives Cyndral a smile as he makes the rounds, glad to have someone looking out for the group beyond just physical health. They make a street gesture to signal they're okay without thinking, tapping two fingers on their upper chest twice, and continue to prepare, admiring their carving for a moment before tucking it away with the rest of their gear.

He packs up his gear and prepares for another days journey, hopefully, closer to a place of refuge.
The cleric takes a place up near the rear of the column as they begin their march through the dark tunnels.

Verim will climb down the ladder, he will stay very much in front using his shield for light but using his darkvision ahead if anything appears, he will shadow Shish but keep his distance, whilst attempting to pick plants. He will speak to Cyndral in his common tongue but will try others if more comfortable for Cyndral.
”Cyndral, I think we are ready, are you? I’d like for you to walk beside me today if you are willing? I’m fascinated by your history, if you don’t mind, I just need to know who I’m travelling with...he pauses....I mean I‘m sure you have interesting skills and I hope interests?
Verim still tries to beam with optimism, Cyndral has definitely spurred that he wants that too, Verim is just not used to opening up.
To Everyone - I’m happy at any speed, we will need to watch for Ilvara but I’m unsure of the dangers, others are much more experienced, I hear of creatures stealing minds, I’d very much like mine intact, slow might help but a medium pace will get us safe quicker, I vote quicker but I am unsure on these beasts, I do want to keep safe slow it is for me then
Verim dims his light slightly as he pulls into a crouch position-
Cyndral is caught a bit aback by Verim's request, but smiles warmly after a moment and nods. Talking about himself isn't something he's had much occasion to do, but any reason to build bridges between travelling companions is a good reason, he supposed.
"Very well my friend. It may be a bit touch and go at first, but I'll gladly answer any questions you may have. If we are all books of our own history, better to be open than shut."
With one last check on any stragglers, he falls into step beside Verim, keeping a scant glance back to Sarith to make sure their rear section would still be well-supervised.
As you set out again for another long day of travel, you all feel well rested but being held in captivity and then walking at a reasonable pace for the last 2 days has taken its toll, you move much slower on this day but it does slow you to be more quiet, to pick up a bit of extra food on the way and to cover your tracks as you go. Tobias at the back begins to think about his old days at the forge, the sound of steel being hit by his hammer, the molten metal being molded and formed. As his mind wanders, his eyes do not and he’s not really concentrating on his surroundings. After choosing a slightly different role in the group for the day, Gnarls remains in the middle of the party, remembering what Shishakli had picked up the day before, picking up certain bits of fungus and removing the sections that he now knows to be bad, he feels quite in his element, even if the environment is different to what he’s used to foraging in. Cyndral continues to make the rounds to check that everyone is ok, the majority are sore and aching but mostly happy considering. El stays right at the back, brushing their footsteps, heading down other passages and then retracing their steps to mislead anyone following. The thoughts of tricking people takes their memories back to their days on the streets. Verim sheds a dim light and occasionaly wanders over to any plant life that Gnarls finds, grabbing a few handfuls of plant life to inspect later that doesn’t appear to be nutritious but could be medicinal. Shishakli moves as silent as ever, making a noise that sounds very much like a bear to most but actually more like an ogre to those unlucky enough to have come across one. He makes this noise every time the way seems clear and the group makes their way towards him. After 2 hours of traveling through the dimly lit 40 ft passages, Shishakli smells something from the passage ahead. Smoke with a hint of cooking meat, a smell that hasn’t filled his nose for a while now.
Allowing the group to catch up to him he stops them and whispers "Do you all smell that? There may be a camp ahead. In my experience if they are brazen enough to have a fire going and cooking meat they are either not a threat, or are strong enough to not be worried of scavengers or raiders. Either way, we should approach with caution and decide what to do once we know what is ahead."
Tobias makes his way to the front as the group comes to a halt. He sniffs at the air. "Well, something does smell good."Nodding at the gnome's assessment, he suggests, "A couple of us who are a bit quieter should scout ahead to see if we can figure out what is waiting for us. Not a good idea just to charge blindly ahead with all of us."
"I've lived a long time down here avoiding many groups or monsters by staying quiet and blending in with the rock... If anyone would like to join, just stay quiet." Shishakli says, as he disappears into the darkness and quietly approaches the smell . stealth21 perception 16
Verim holds as he hears the discussion and the smell fills his nostrils, he changes the shield colour to yellow as caution and holds it high above his head, he steps aside to allow those of the stealthy nature to go past, it’s not exactly his area of expertise. He stands ready if anything should be heard.
”If those of you sneaking up can you send a message Telepathically to us if you feel in danger, I will come as swift as I am able”
Shishakli sighs as he can hear Gnarls' heavy breathing and weapons clanking as he creeps up behind, thinking to himself "and this is why I've done so well alone..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Shishakli moves up and positions himself just behind a good sized rock, hiding himself from whatever is up ahead. It almost sounds as though Gnarls is trying too hard to be quiet. His breathing is heavy as he concentrates and each step is thought about and placed but somehow they still make a slight thud as they touch the floor.

Trying to ignore the noise behind him, Shishakli peers into the darkness, allowing his darkvision to work. 80 ft away, he can make out a small porch made out of some sort of drift wood attached to one of the passageway walls. A small humanoid creature sits on a stool with a long pipe wedged in their mouth, the bottom of the pipe aglow. They're sat next to a large cooking pot with a small fire beneath, stirring whatever is inside occasionally.
The creatures head looks up towards your direction and you hear an old, slightly broken voice of a woman "Who's there? Show yourself right this minute!"
