Selinae smiled apologetically, waved her off then paused and queried.
" Do you have anything sweet?"
"Sure thing, Miss Selinae. I can fix you up a sangria if it feels right with you." Sybella winks. "Like myself a fruity drink or two as well! Just be careful, you know, I know I've a habit of stuffing those drinks one after another hah!"

Sitting with Del, Jake also wants to get to know him. “Alright kid, so let’s trade. You tell me about yourself and I’ll tell you about Saltmarsh.” Getting Lankus’s attention, Jake says “Hey can you pass me an ale, and give the kid something to eat, he looks half-starved.”
Selinae smiled apologetically, waved her off then paused and queried.

Ander’s blinks as the goliath joins them and watches as the conversation persists between the two. He just nods, chuckling a little as the Orc calls her the Chieftan of Saltmarsh. His hand just extends to two chairs in front of him"Please both of you sit. I will say it is interesting to see your kind here. Out of the occasional sailor we don' get to may. What brings you to the fine town of Salthmarsh?"
He just looks to Sybella“Would you like to join us – I’ll can let Lankus know you are just going to be servicing our table tonight exclusively.”He just looks to Lankus and points at you as if signaling what he just said to you and then hold up some coin. Lankus clearly annoyed, and you clearly not getting a choice, at losing a barmaid just nods - it was hard for anyone to say no to Anders in this town.
“Anyways, please place your orders and then I would be glad to discuss a business opportunity with you before I announce it to this crowd. You both look more capable then most…”keeping his friendly smile and demeanor he looks to Sybella“If you’d like to make some money also I’ll even extend it to you before announcing it – I know that Anne must have taught you some useful skills.”
Mizzula and Nimb:
Lankus just sighs“No they don’t go on together. One covers from Sundown to Midnight and the other from Midnight until Sunrise. If they want you as support you’ll have to ask one of them…”looking another deep sigh escapes him“I’ll tell you what…I don’t see the first one here so feel free to play until he gets to the stage. You can keep whatever change is thrown your way.”With that he just points at the small elevated platform that acts as a stage.
His attention turns to Mizzula as he mentions that he used to run a shop“Shame…it’d be nice for the tiefling to get out of town. She’s a little to fiendish for me. If you’re looking for magical items you’ll probably have your best luck just adventuring into the look marsh to see the hag or even up to the old house a ways. Del and Jake:
As you sit at your table the blonde hair barmaid just comes by and looks at you, Jake you pretty much grew up with Stella, though she is a few years younger than you. Stella stands roughly 5’5’’ and has the right features to bring in customers. As she comes your way she deftly moves around he wandering hands of customers keeping a smile on her face and manners flowing“Well hello there Jake – is this a relative?”she asks smiling as she moves a little bit of gold hair out of her face and stares at Del with crystal blue eyes.
Selinae smiled and sat down, " Thankyou, Mr. Anders."
" Um...yes. My name is Selinae Liol. I was most recently crewing on The Dainty, before that I was working as a pearl diver further down the coast."
" I would very much like some work please as I need to send more money home to care for my parents....um....", she thought back to her mothers interview advice. " I'm a fast learner and always put my best foot forward in my enjoyment to acquire new skills and expertise.", the last said without breath leaving her a little puffed at the end of it.
”Thank you, Lankus, that sounds good.” Nimb then moves over to the stage, with his ale in hand, which he sips before placing his orange rugged cap on the ground in front of him, grabbing his flute that he uses as a kind of necklace, and starts to play some simple tavern songs. Performance: 18

“You know I don’t know a thing about my family Stella. This is Del, he says he came to learn about Saltmarsh, and I think he’s gonna need my help if I can just figure out how to do that.”
Jake’s voice hardens at the mention of family, but he looks at Stella and lowers his head in gruff apology. Looking at her arm more closely, he motions towards it and quietly says, “That red rash better now? I didn’t know if my salve would work as well as usual on different symptoms.”
Gom swats aside the chair Anders gestured toward and instead retains his place on the crate he towed to the table.
"Gom with ship have destruction from rocks in storm. Gom wash ashore. Gom acquire plenty coins removal taken crew corpses. Gom invest armor. Gom expend prodigious having fit and quality. To announce his order, Gom points to the chalkboard area which serves as the food and drink menu.
"Gom begin having sampler of totality. Gom desire collection trying one with all enumerated option. Gom have discovery with patience for best taste possibility."
Gom is unclear why Selinae is telling an obvious lie, but he feels certain the ship Selinae was aboard was not dainty. Addressing the formidable Goliath, Gom makes a recommendation."Chieftain have importance ignoring diversion for sidetrack of income. Chieftain demand tribute of Saltmarsh people benefit leadership avoiding wrath of fearsome Selinae. Chieftain parents have wealth of Selinae gift lacking delay. Gom assist relay of Chieftain demand."
Why was Selinae extolling her virtues to Anders? Wasn't she in charge of this region? If Selinae decided to take everything from Anders and toss his decapitated head in a basket, what exactly was he going to do to prevent that? Treat her to death?
Gom suspects that Selinae has adopted some of the "civilized" cultural norms, so she's presenting all this false modesty to not humiliate Anders by dictating her terms to him. Maybe that's a wise thing for a Chieftain to do - to placate the malcontents and avoid the hassle of suppressing an insurrection. Although, she could probably just rip Anders in half and the rest would fall in line. Gom certainly intended to remain in the Chieftain's good graces. If she decided some task this Anders guy had in mind needed doing, who was he to tell a Chieftain no?
Sitting with Del, Jake also wants to get to know him. “Alright kid, so let’s trade. You tell me about yourself and I’ll tell you about Saltmarsh.” Getting Lankus’s attention, Jake says “Hey can you pass me an ale, and give the kid something to eat, he looks half-starved.”
Still looking around the bar, the young genasi is now paying special interest to the fearsome looking tusked warrior and the towering, yet lean, woman with the top-knot. Is that... seal skin armour, Del wonders? Interesting. As Jake continues to speak, the travelling youth's attention returns to the older, capable looking man next to him. Hearing the proposed trade suggestion, Del shrugs and says in a strangely conflicted voice that speaks of curiosity and yet has a level tone and slow cadence that implies boredom or even simple-mindedness,'
"That works for me, friend Jake. Trade is a way of life, where I am from. Talk about myself though... like what, exactly? Sorry, but my people are more do'ers, than talkers, and I'm just not very interesting, I'm afraid. My name is Del and I like animals. For the most part, they tend to like me back. I have a keen interest in learning more about the wider world, both on, below and beyond the seas. Is this actually interesting to you? If so, whatever you could tell me about Saltmarsh would be ever so greatly appreciated!
For instance, see that fearsome looking green-skinned man with the tusks and the immensely tall woman over there. I don't believe that I have ever seen their like before. Are their kind common around here? Would it be considered rude if I walked over to ask their origins?"

Upon hearing the barkeep's thoughts on Tieflings he thinks to himself "I wonder how he'd act if he knew I wasn't human." But he doesn't say anything about the man's low key racism. Looking back up at Lankus,"A haunted alchemist home? Interesting. I'll have to check that out. As for the hag in the marsh, I think I'll leave her be unless I can find others to travel with me. That's too much risk to face alone."
Miz turns from the bar and looks out across the room, taking in the sights, sounds, and smell of the place. Seeing an eclectic group of folks gathering at one table he couldn't help but smile. Since fleeing Luskan he hadn't had any friends. He was starting to miss the camaraderie of a small group of friends.

Your hair is an interesting colour. Is your combination of hair and eye colouration common to these parts, or are you from elsewhere like me?"
Smiling his pearly white smile, small dark eyes glimmering in the tavern's lantern light like little black pearls, Del speaks to the interesting waitress in what he thinks is a friendly manner, though unknown to the oblivious young genasi, his awkward phrasing and slow, droning intonation likely comes across as wierd and possibly a little creepy.

"M-Me? Sit down?" Sybella second guessed herself after being invited to join upon her return to the table. She placed Selinae's drink down by the girl and quickly took a seat at the bench as she said, "Oh no, I couldn't possibly intrude, but, yes my mum taught me how to fight a scoundrel or two."
It's clear that Sybella plans to stay and join everyone at the table. If she were a puppy her tail would be whacking over various cups and mugs. Ambition gleamed in her eyes and she whispered, "I could definitely use some coin if I'm ever to properly venture out into the world..."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nimb:
The crowd’s attention is draw to the music and the player, many smiling and clapping as his performance foes on and some even putting some silver and copper into hat as a tip. The more he plays the more the crowd begins to join in his performance singing along when they know the song and just enjoying it when they done.
[OOC]
Add 9 copper, 5 silver, and 1 gold
Not for that much alcohol, I’m assuming as a bard Nimb has experience with drinking and can hold his own. If you entered into a drinking contest or began to go over what would be a normal amount, then it would be constitution saves not to become intoxicated.
Mizulla:
Lankus just nods as the Mizulla mentions leaving the hag alone“Most would agree with you. Not one to anger or draw the wrath of a hag onto the town.” He watches as the customer turns to look across the room and begins to take care of other patrons at the bar.
Del and Jake:
Stella just blushes a little as Jake speaks and looks away in embarrassment“I just thought maybe you found some…sorry.” As he brings up the help he gave her she just nods“It’s doing much better thank you. I just think it was some poison ivy.”
Her attention turns to the new genasi as he speaks, her look now becoming one of confusion“Um…we are a tavern hun. Fermented beverages are kind of our specialty – though we might have some…”she begins to think as if you’ve thrown a wrench into her usual routine “we might have some milk or juice in the back…I can check. In Saltmarsh I would say its average, you know us humans can be quite various in the way we look. I wouldn’t know outside of the town though; besides the sailors I don’t get to much interactions.”She just looks around as the music starts playing and just smiles“I’ll go check though and get back to you both.” As she moves away from the table and through doors in the back.
Gom, Selinae, and Sybella:
Anders just sits listening to Gom describe what he has done, at times his eyebrow arches as if trying to decipher the orc’s broken common “Well it certainly sounds like Gom has need for some money then. Although I own fishing boats and some merchant vessels I actually have something else I need done first. Though I’m glad you’re interested.”He just watches as the orc begins to place his order using the chalk board and just blinks in astonishment“Certainly have an appetite don’t you.”
As Selinae mentions she would like some work Anders just smiles even wider“Good, I’ll count you both in then for what I need done. You see I’ve been recently looking at investing in the further betterment of this town and the betterment of my family business. I figured why not start by defeating a local stupid legend of a haunted house, more importantly I feel the truth of the house may be more dreadful than the rumors. I will need you two and whoever decides to join, to go into the house and investigate it for me.”He pauses to sip from his wine“Now that I know you two would enjoy employment I think this is a good start – 100 gold each should suffice yes.”
He just looks to Sybella watching how she reacts to being asked to join the table and then learning that his suspicions about her were correct. He just nods “You could be a part of this and known as someone who helped this town. I’ll go make the announcement well you think about it.”
Without waiting for your answers the man walks over to the stage where the halfling is playing music and just smiles dropping in some gold“I need the stage for a second good man.”He says stepping up and holding his hands up calming the crowd to near silence.
All:
Stepping up onto the platform Ander’s clears his throat before speaking up“Good people of Saltmarsh – for years we have been plagued with rumors of a haunted house – lights flashing and strange noises. People going missing after investigating it or just attempting to go in on a dare. I know we have heard stories, an alchemist lived a hermit’s life and found the secret to turn metals into gold, now he haunts the place. That there is an unholy presence that keeps to that place holding onto a hoard of treasure.”He just pauses as people listen closely to the man“These two strong and honorable individuals have agreed to go and investigate on our behalf, as representatives of myself and this town. Who would be willing to join them and aid them in this effort. I will provide the reward for anyone who chooses to come and talk to me about this at my table.”
With that the man jumps down and heads back to his table. The crowd murmuring about the house, reiterating the details they have heard and how it would be crazy for anyone to take him up on his offer. Ander’s just smiles looking back to his table guests“Now we wait and see who is willing to join you. Sybella, the offer still stands 100 gold to help these people.”
Jake:
Something about this man’s offer has caught your attention as you see parts of his clothes floating as if they are in water, his skin turning from the healthy tan to a pale white as if he had been drowned. This vision only lasts for but a moment as if guiding you.
"The haunted house?!" Sybella slams her hand on the table with a start once it sinks in what Anders is asking of her. This was a bona fide adventure! The wind filled her sails as she continued, "100 gold. Not silvers or coppers, but gold? Yes, count me in Mr. Anders. Consider it done. My arrow brings misery to those I aim it at, just like Mister Gom has mentioned."

Del smiles at Jake, not really sure if he will need the man's help or not, but appreciative of having found someone who is both kind and interesting to boot. When the man speaks of the medicinal help he provided to Stella, Del nods and listens with keen interest. Yes, this man might indeed prove a good acquaintance to make in this strange land.

Del grimaces when the waitress explains that these mainland taverns seem to almost exclusively stock alcohol, unlike the gathering places where he was from which wisely discouraged such excesses outside of special occassions and rituals. Nodding his head and muttering a "Yes please" at the possiblity of milk or juice, the curious genasi feels a genuine pang of sadness for Stella when she declares the experiential limits of her life in this place. Still, similar to his own parents who likewise chose a non-nomadic existence, the driven young naturalist could understand why some might choose such a stationary life... though he could never appreciate such or want it for himself.
As the loud man makes his declaration from the stage, one of Del's greeny-black eyebrows arcs in interest, as he mumbles before turning to Jake to say,'
"An adventure... involving ghosts? Right here in town where you all live? Extraordinary! Technically gold is still just another metal, though I know how much you mainlanders seem to value it.
What do you think, Healer Jake? Maybe we could help with this mystery - it certainly sounds like a wonderful learning opportunity. Especially working alongside such fascinating folk!"

It's not haunted, it's something worse, and he wants it investigated. Huh. Sybella is very keen because she's never been on an adventure. So then what will the Chieftain decide?
One hundred gold is a lot. Go through a house... smash skulls... an hour? Worth it.
Selinae was a little dumbfounded, " 100? Thats.....uh...like 3 months wages diving...... Yes! Um, I mean its well outside my usual work but I don't see any problem in going and looking through an old building."
" Are there really ghosts do you think?", she said quietly to Sybella with a slightly worried look.
[OOC: How much gold did Anders give Nimb? Also, 2 copper, 2 silver and 2 gold was a 1/640 chance to happen, wow! Another thing, that amount of money seems a bit low to me, you could help someone kill some rats and you’d probably get at least 10 gold, probably much more.]
After seeing Anders drop some gold into Nimb’s hat, he nods to Anders with a smile, then steps down and listens to what Anders has to say, he thinks to himself ”How much gold? Seems like he could give quite a bit, not that I'm really strapped for cash, but it might be nice to meet some people, maybe the ghost(s) will enjoy my music, maybe they aren't actually evil- Wait, people went missing didn't they? I should go just because of that alone!” He shakes his head, annoyed at himself that he thought about money before he thought about helping people. He then picks up his hat, pocketing the money and then putting it back on his head. He walks over to Anders’ table, waiting for him to finish talking before speaking ”Hello, Anders was it? I'm Nimb, I'm a Bard, and I would love to help with investigating this haunted house, I couldn't sleep at night if I didn't help those people that went missing, when will we head out, tomorrow?” Nimb makes sure to not mention a reward, still beating himself up about what he thought.
Rubbing his eyes, Jake grumbles to himself, “Don’t need the visual. Simple yes would have worked.” Turning to Del, Jake looks at this younger, weirdly excited man and says, “Well if you want to, sounds like something I could help with. Looking at those two, they’re probably gonna need some wounds bandaged anyway. Let’s go over there and see if they’ll take us.”

Looking back up at Lankus, "A haunted alchemist home? Interesting. I'll have to check that out. As for the hag in the marsh, I think I'll leave her be unless I can find others to travel with me. That's too much risk to face alone."
Miz turns from the bar and looks out across the room, taking in the sights, sounds, and smell of the place. Seeing an eclectic group of folks gathering at one table he couldn't help but smile. Since fleeing Luskan he hadn't had any friends. He was starting to miss the camaraderie of a small group of friends.

"Hello. Could I please have a glass of whatever non-fermented fruit or vegetable juice is most common to this area? And yes, I am someone's relative. Not Jakes though, no.

Fighting? Anders hadn't mentioned that, had he? But that would certainly explain his interest in Selinae and himself.
"Sybella drink as Dwarf on bender. Sybella fighting have same size beyond expectation. Elf arrow give intense misery."
Mizulla:
Lankus just nods as the Mizulla mentions leaving the hag alone “Most would agree with you. Not one to anger or draw the wrath of a hag onto the town.” He watches as the customer turns to look across the room and begins to take care of other patrons at the bar.
Del and Jake:
Stella just blushes a little as Jake speaks and looks away in embarrassment “I just thought maybe you found some…sorry.” As he brings up the help he gave her she just nods “It’s doing much better thank you. I just think it was some poison ivy.”
Her attention turns to the new genasi as he speaks, her look now becoming one of confusion “Um…we are a tavern hun. Fermented beverages are kind of our specialty – though we might have some…” she begins to think as if you’ve thrown a wrench into her usual routine “we might have some milk or juice in the back…I can check. In Saltmarsh I would say its average, you know us humans can be quite various in the way we look. I wouldn’t know outside of the town though; besides the sailors I don’t get to much interactions.” She just looks around as the music starts playing and just smiles “I’ll go check though and get back to you both.” As she moves away from the table and through doors in the back.
Though I’m glad you’re interested.” He just watches as the orc begins to place his order using the chalk board and just blinks in astonishment “Certainly have an appetite don’t you.”
As Selinae mentions she would like some work Anders just smiles even wider “Good, I’ll count you both in then for what I need done. You see I’ve been recently looking at investing in the further betterment of this town and the betterment of my family business. I figured why not start by defeating a local stupid legend of a haunted house, more importantly I feel the truth of the house may be more dreadful than the rumors. I will need you two and whoever decides to join, to go into the house and investigate it for me.” He pauses to sip from his wine “Now that I know you two would enjoy employment I think this is a good start – 100 gold each should suffice yes.”
He just looks to Sybella watching how she reacts to being asked to join the table and then learning that his suspicions about her were correct. He just nods “You could be a part of this and known as someone who helped this town. I’ll go make the announcement well you think about it.”
Without waiting for your answers the man walks over to the stage where the halfling is playing music and just smiles dropping in some gold “I need the stage for a second good man.” He says stepping up and holding his hands up calming the crowd to near silence.
All:
Stepping up onto the platform Ander’s clears his throat before speaking up “Good people of Saltmarsh – for years we have been plagued with rumors of a haunted house – lights flashing and strange noises. People going missing after investigating it or just attempting to go in on a dare. I know we have heard stories, an alchemist lived a hermit’s life and found the secret to turn metals into gold, now he haunts the place. That there is an unholy presence that keeps to that place holding onto a hoard of treasure.” He just pauses as people listen closely to the man “These two strong and honorable individuals have agreed to go and investigate on our behalf, as representatives of myself and this town.
Ander’s just smiles looking back to his table guests “Now we wait and see who is willing to join you.

Send help pleaseRubbing his eyes, Jake grumbles to himself, “Don’t need the visual.
