Cade freezes mid-chew, and after a moment comes back to his senses. What starts as a horrified look crossing his features is swiftly pushed down for a stern one. "Right. The mission.." Cade gives the half-eaten rat corpse one last looking of longing on his way down after the others. Taking a cue from Xavnan, but remaining closer at hand, the goblin walks at least five feet behind Rivon.
"*whistle* Now that is a beauty there. The fact that its still stable to... hn. Here is hoping they don' t have any sentries closer at hand." Cade comments on as the citadel rose in sight. Up until the reach the building itself, the goblin busies himself looking beyond the light whenever possible for dangers Rivon and few others could not see.

Ekk remembers a little something about the citadel. He remembers that it was originally built by a dragon cult that valued privacy and defense long ago, however, all record of the cult's name has vanished, though various sources believe them to be associated with the dragon Ashardalon.
Cade admires the beauty of the citadel as he walks down the stairs. He doesn't see any other signs of trouble at this point.

"You're a right gent, Darren. My thanks." Cade awkwardly accepts the rag and clears off the rest. The whole while his ears droop, and eyes stayed cast towards the ground from embarrassment. "I'm... as good to go as ever. The buggers hardly got scratch off on me."Turning to Rivon, he rubs his chin in thought. "Nope. Nothing more for me. But the advice is noted. Not sure how more cautious we can be other then keeping our eyes peeled, but I'll follow your lead Mr. Rivon."

“Well if anyone is capable of making light or has torches.... I think they call it the sunless citadel for a reason.” ..... taking a moment to ponder the dangers fades way into excitement “Dragon.... hopefully there some remnants of his power there! Think of the knowledge that could have been accumulated, not to mention the power. I must learn what I can about this Ashardalon.” Ekk carries on, skipping to keep pace and scurrying around
dont think twice about it Cade. Just got a little hungry, i suppose. But thats a good point Ekk. I feel like a slow approach may be our best bet. We dont know what is in there, or whats still in there. What ever it is im sure they dont get visitors very often. Maybe we light it up once were in a good spot. This just feels too open here. Too many possible eyes on us.
Rivon will dim his lantern as much as possible to avoid drawing attention, but the risk of the stairs is enough that he wants to keep at least a little light so he can spot danger spots, traps or whatever.
(To the dm, the area we are in, is it like a large chamber with the citadel in it? Kinda like the tower of the moon/minas morgul from Lotr? And is there a path that were on with cave walls or is it just open?)
(You are in a ravine that at the top, where you first entered is 250 feet across, and gets wider the further you go down. Somehow in the past the whole citadel fell into the earth and got lodged down here and lost for thousands of years.)
Rivon dims his light, and continues quietly down the stairs to where you come to another ledge and more stairs heading down. Finally, you can see the crumbling courtyard of the once magnificent Sunless Citadel.
The narrow stairs empty into a small courtyard, apparently the top of what was once a crenelated battlement. The buried citadel has sunk so far into the earth that the battlement is now level with the surrounding floor. That floor stretches away to the north and south, composed of a layer of treacherous, crumbled masonry, which reaches to an unknown depth. To the west looms the surviving structure of what must be the Sunless Citadel. A tower stands on the west side of the courtyard.

If nothing is seen (presumably by the whole group), he'll say, "I'll move down and across the courtyard to make sure it's safe. Cover me. If I flash my lantern twice, it's clear, if it goes out, things went bad. Umm, three times means they're serving hors d'oeuvres, umm, you know, work it out." And he very cautiously moves forward, fully alert.
Rivon walks very quietly down the stairs and into the courtyard. He doesn't see any movement around, however he does notice that the ground in the courtyard is very unstable.
(Rivon, please roll an Acrobatics check to move across the courtyard.)

Ekk would be staying in the middle of the group. Any chance he read about the citadel during his time in the library?

"Valued privacy and defense? That's concerning.
Anyone want to do anything before we move forward? I suggest we approach cautiously."
How does everyone feel? Im sure as soon as we get in there its gonna be nuts. Is everyone ready for a good fight?
as a joke Darren flexes one arm and smiles to the group and then sees Cade with a bit of rat gore still on his chin
hey Cade, heres a bit of a rag for your chin
