The man crackles at you. "We will deal with you, then finish with the girl. This brief interruption will not stop us!"
With a quick cut from his sword and an offhand punch the cultist that attacked Darvin falls dead.
Gilbert sends bolts of magic at the strange looking cultist striking him repeatedly.
Darvin moves into the room and drives his blade deep into the man and his cackling laugh stops. He looks deadly serious now,
The man weaves his hands and chants and points at the entry into the room. A bright streak flashes from his pointing finger and with a low roar it blossoms into an explosion of flame.
Tibi, Whistler and Gilbert are caught in the fireball and Tibi takes 29 damage while Whistler and Gilbert each take half.
"My turn - yippee! Tallyho!"Tibi cries as he launches himself into the air and flies directly at Cultist #4 both rapiers stretched out in front of him. Attack: 9 Damage: 12 Attack: 18 Damage: 8

"Where is the girl!?" Gilbert would shout at the man as he points his wand towards him and casts magic missile (at 3rd level), sending five multicolored orbs of light streaking through the dark towards the man with the skull flail.

Which one are you attacking #1 through 5?
I just realized that Gilbert can't cast level 3 spells yet, so I took 3 damage off of his attack
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gil would shake his head back and forth hard, causing his ears to slap him in the face. "NO! You cannot kill the girl! We.... We porbably won't get paid then..." He would say as he nods to his spectral bat, sending it forth to flutter in the face of the old cultist.. helping to distract him while the small verdan cast Chromatic orb. In an instant, a ball of pulsating and vibrating sound would send ripples down his staff before he launched the orb of thunder towards the cultist...
(targeting the same one.. 5) Attack: 21 Damage: 9 thunder damage
Darvin dodges cultist #3's spell and immediately twirls around and approaches him (if #2 is dead, from his square; otherwise from the north). "You're going to regret that," he says, attempting to stab him.
Attack: 23 Damage: 11
(If that hits and cultist #2 is still up, he will use Slashing Flourish, to do an additional 2 damage to both #3 and #2. If cultist #2 was already down and #3 is still up, he'll just stay put; if #3 is now down too he'll move toward #4)

Tibi attempts to execute the perfect riposte Attack: 21 Damage: 12 and Attack: 9 Damage: 5. He looks at the moon touched rapier in disgust as once again he misses with that weapon.

While Tibi misses with the moon touched rapier, the plain simple one again does its job as it cuts into the man and kills him.
Combat over
Looking around you see that they have recently uncovered the altar. You wonder what nefarious purpose they had for finding such a thing.
The cultists have simple flails with a skull head and a total 13 gold on them.
The mage that threw the fireball has another 37 gold.
As the room quiets down you hear muffled screams and knocking from the room to the north.
Going inside this room appears to be the other half of the basement to maybe a warehouse. Stairs on the side wall lead up to an open trapdoor, but are blocked by a pile of debris from above. A large table dominates part of the left side and is scattered with books and papers along with a 3ft statue of the symbol of Myrkul. Scattered about the rest of the room are several sleeping mats and a small cooking fire by the stairs that vents smoke through the debris.
On one of the beds is a woman who is bound and gagged.
Searching the room you find the mage's spellbook. You also find a Wand of Magic Detection.
Before they enter the room Tibi plucks out all the burnt feathers or if they are too many and nit wanting to look like some sort of plucked chicken does his best to rearrange them into some sort of order. As they enter the room he doffs his hat with a flourish bows and says “my name is Caraticus Tibice and my friends and I were engaged to rescue you” he looks over at somebody else in the party and continues “Well will someone untie the poor woman?”
