Botting Donovan and Tozo for this round. Also, rolling for Mordai's damage.
Donovan, wanting to protect his friends, casts Shield of Faith on Reginald, heightening his AC by 2.
Tozo chooses to target the older Tabaxi, casting Fire Bolt, dealing 7 damage.
Mordai's attack has dealt 11 damage. All in all, the older Tabaxi has been dealt 18 damage.
Being attacked, the Tails choose to go on the offensive themselves as well.
The two fighters run towards the incoming party members, the one formerly on C6 moving to F9 and attacking Reginald, while the one formerly on E4 moving to G7 and attacking Morgan.
Attack on Reginald: 9, Damage if hit: 19
Attack on Morgan: 26, Damage if hit: 15
Meanwhile, the older Tabaxi moves to E6 and takes out some kind of vial, which he throws to H9. The vial crashes onto the grass, breaking and releasing some form of a dark yellow cloud, which envelops all squares around it. All within the vicinity (Meaning both Reginald and Morgan) being dealt 4 damage. They can make a CON or DEX save (their choice) with a DC of 14 to halve the damage received.
Finally, the Tabaxi wizard moves slightly to C4, casting some spell, though the result of this is unknown, as nothing discernible happens.
Here's the placement for round 2 of Combat:
It is your turn to act.
OOC: Wow, the older Tabaxi rolled impressively crappily...
Mordai ducking and moving behind another tent for cover, pauses between the two tents and sees a Tabaxi attacking Regi and then once more you see 4 globes of pure force circling his head and then shoots out to impact the Tabaxi fighter.
[OOC: Moving from t8 to s13, pausing half way to cast MM at Tabaxi at f9]
[OOC: damn, that was a nice roll....Also my previous MM was also at level 2 and it did 15 damage, don't really care, just let me know if I should uncheck a 2nd level spell and check a 1st lvl or not - think I will do the description of the spells this way as before it was a bit confusing]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Botting Tozo and Donovan again.
Donovan prefers to stay away from fighting, so he casts Healing Word on Morgan, healing him for 7 damage.
Tozo, meanwhile, casts Flaming Sphere on F8, so that it encompasses both Tails warriors, dealing them 7 Fire damage unless they manage a DC 13 DEX save.
DEX Save for Cat 1: 17 and Cat 2: 7.
Reginald is able to save against the older Tabaxi's venom vial, only taking 2 damage. his strike against the closest enemy is moderately successful, with the Tabaxi dodging the first strike but being hit by the second one, taking 6 damage.
Mordai's strike against the older Tabaxi is absolutely devastating, with such a critical success (OOC: I know technically it's not a crit) swooping the Tabaxi off his feet, making him unable to act in this round. However, when Mordai let loose his spell, he also felt something in the air and, all of a sudden, was struck in the chest by a ball of fire, seemingly coming from the Older Tabaxi. The dragonborn is able to realize, that this is the result of whatever spell the Tails' wizard cast previously, but it's too late. He takes 8 damage, but can perform a CON save with a DC of 14 to halve the damage taken.
Morgan, meanwhile, is extremely successful with his strikes, the Tabaxi in front of him clearly being unable to keep up with the relentless attacks. The three cuts to the target's body deal him a total of 27 damage.
After the round, the Older Tabaxi has taken a total of 38 damage, the Tabaxi on G7 has taken 35 damage, the Tabaxi on F9 has taken 6 damage and the Tabaxi wizard is so far untouched. The older Tabaxi seems to be hurt, but far from dying (even though he needs this round to recover from Mordai's blast), while the Tabaxi on G7 is clearly not doing so well and is not far from being dead.
After the party's actions are done, the Tails act next.
The two Tabaxi fighters, as if acting in unison, switch tactics and, instead of one strike, perform two smaller attacks on their targets:
Attack 1 on Reginald: 25, damage if hit: 7
Attack 2 on Reginald: 10, damage if hit: 8
Attack 1 on Morgan: 13, damage if hit: 8
Attack 2 on Morgan: 16, damage if hit: 8
Meanwhile, the Tabaxi wizard once again casts a spell, but the results thereof are immediately visible. three large arrows materialize from out of nowhere and strike Tozo, Donovan and Mordai each, dealing 8 damage to each of them. The targets can halve the damage if they perform a DEX save with a DC of 15. Tozo and Mordai, since they are both behind partial cover, get a +2 bonus on this save.
Morgan feels rejuvenated by the heal from his ally and made it his job to make sure they stayed safe. He continued to fight the cat keeping an eye out for any of the others if they decided to move.
Both the Gnome and the Human failed their saves, meaning that they each take 9 damage.
Meanwhile, the Tabaxi fighting Morgan is fast enough to dodge the fighter's strike, while the one fighting Reginald is only partially successful, being caught in the side by the rogue's dagger, receiving 7 damage.
Donovan, meanwhile, runs towards Mordai and casts Cure Wounds at level 2, healing the Dragonborn for 8 damage.
At the same time, Tozo casts flaming sphere again, targeting the two fighter Tabaxi, dealing them 9 damage.
As a result of Tozo's attack, the Tabaxi fighting Morgan cries out in anguish and falls to the floor, clearly writhing in agony and about to die. The other Tabaxi is not doing well either, but is not close to death either.
So far, one fighter Tabaxi is dead, the other has taken 17 damage, the older Tabaxi has taken 38, and the wizard is untouched.
It is the enemy's turn now.
The fighter, left alone facing both Reginald and Morgan, chooses to disengage, depriving Reginald of the chance to perform an attack of opportunity, and retreating to E13.
At the same time, the wizard casts something, as a result of which the Older Tabaxi's sword begins to glow with a bluish glow.
After this, the older Tabaxi runs straight towards Morgan, attempting to land a crushing blow on him.
Attack - 24
Damage - 15
(OOC: A crit failure on a strike with +14, and when he had rolled exclusively crit successes on damage, holy cow!)
As the blow fails to land, the glow from the sword fades, the spell clearly being a one time thing. The older Tabaxi seems extremely frustrated at his own ineffectiveness. as a result, it is clear that he has lost some of his confidence and, in the next round, will be attacking with a disadvantage.
Mordai seeing his opportunity as a wicked smile crossing his face begins to cast a spell as a small green orb begins to form in one of his hands and then surprisingly a second green orb forms in his other hand. He then hurls one of the globes at the wizard and then hurls another at the older Tabaxi.
[OOC: Using all three of my sorcery points I will cast a 2nd level twinned distant Chromatic Orb]
2nd Level Twinned distant Chromatic Orb Acid Damage with advantage at the Tabaxi Wizard: Attack: 25 Damage: 32
Twinned part of the 2nd level Chromatic Orb Acid Damage without advantage toward older Tabaxi: Attack: 14 Damage: 26
[OOC: this all works if I am reading everything correctly distant costs 1 Sorc point, Twinned costs a point depending on level, so 2nd level should be 2 points. Twinned also stats that I can use it on a spell that can never target more than one creature.]
Regi hesitates slightly to give chase to the tabaxi he was fighting but wants to close in on the wizard. However, he stops to flank the tabaxi moving to f8.
Venom Dagger Attack: 8 Damage: 8
On a hit DC 15 con save or take 6 and be poisoned for 1 minute
Dagger Attack: 14 Damage: 6 (if the first attack kills the tabaxi i'm hitting i want to throw this dagger to the tabaxi directly north of me.)
(ooc: i don't remember if you had any flanking rules, but if you grant advantage then here is attack 1: 25 attack 2: 7
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Gash- Lvl14 Goblin Wizard - The High Court of the Aasimar Queen
OOC: We do have flanking rules, so, advantage granted.
Mordai's spells are incredibly successful, with the attack on the wizard annihilating the Tabaxi in her entirety, with only clothes and ashes remaining, while the Older Tabaxi is left sill standing, but clearly not doing well.
Morgan and Reginald use this chance to strike at the leader of the enemy chopping at him from both sides, until the older Tabaxi crumples to the ground.
In the meantime, Tozo and Donovan move to intercept the final wounded Tabaxi, killing him before he has any chance to respond.
All in all, the enemy are quite dead. Going through the bodies, you find three shortswords, six daggers, one crossbow, twenty crossbow bolts, 7 gold pieces, as well as two peculiar items that are found on the older Tabaxi's body.
One seems to be an old letter:
While the other is a flag with a wooden handle:
"I guess the Tails have a fancier name for themselves. Figures, they would not be actually calling themselves "Tails". And, it seems, their local leader died here as well, without ever managing to draw blood from anyone" Tozo laughs.
All in all, the loot, for the party, is as follows:
60 Gold pieces;
20 Daggers;
7 Spears;
4 Crossbows;
100 Crossbow Bolts;
10 Shortswords;
3 Battleaxes;
6 Padded Armor;
6 Hide Armor;
4 Chain Shirts;
1 Half Plate.
"Now, should we return to Genmore, or start cutting off these guys' tails? it seems slightly off, cutting up the dead creatures' tails, plus we did not kill them, so should we be collecting the bounty?" Donovan asks around, to no one in particular.
Morgan was unsure of the idea of taking a bounty he did not work to claim.
”I don’t feel we should try and claim the bounty of the already dead cats, these four are ours but the rest I’m not sure.”
(OOC. If no one wants it I would like the half plate, and a spear. We can try and carry some of it back and give it to Yedder or sell it maybe? Someone else can hold onto the money)
"I don't care one way or the other, but the more money we have the more doors might be opened later on down the line to getting our memories back. Take what equipment you all might want but then I suggest taking the rest of it back to Sir Yedder to replace what we took and then further outfit the settlement."
With that, Mordai will go the edge of the clearing and lean against a tree keeping watch over the group.
With Reginald's insistence, and no one else being equally insistent as to the opposite, the party collects all fourteen Tails' tails as well. This, combined with all the loot they have gathered, makes them quite encumbered, meaning that the trek back to Genmore is quite a slow one.
En route, the party passes a beautiful manor, which is situated near the river, and looks as tranquil as a place can be. However, having no reason whatsoever to stop here, the party goes on, eager to get to Genmore and have to carry fewer items.
Once in the village, the party gets to the Castle. They see Tarden there:
"Good to see you have returned, friends. Yed is not back yet, but I have his instructions. Fourteen tails, huh? Good job, you clearly hunted well. So, that will be 100 plus 140 Gold pieces - a fortune, really. Well, here you go".
With that, he gives you the bounty. All in all, you have received 300 Gold pieces for this adventure, so, each of you gets 60 Gold (OOC: you can add them in your inventory).
"Now, as for those things, Yed has a shed full of similar items, so I don't think he'll be eager to buy those from you. However, if you get to Totrichel or Birley, you might be able to sell the stuff. Well, Yed should be along shortly, hell, he should have been back before you, so we can wait around".
With that, Tarden remains nearby, as you all wait for Sir Yedder to return. However, over an hour passes without the Centaur appearing. Tarden is visibly worried.
OOC: You can consider to have had a short rest, and roll hit dice, if you wish.
