Kal looks around the place. Well, it beats our last rooms, that’s for sure. Now, as to how to recover Floon... we may already be on Xanathar’s bad side on account of interfering with his men at the Portal... and killing his people at the warehouse. Oh Gods, the letter. Kalmar takes the letter he found at the office and reads it.
What is the consensus regarding short vs long rest? For reference it is around midnight; we arrived at the Zhentarim warehouse at sundown, spend about an hour there, then walked ~3 miles dropping Renaer off and traveling to his house.

Ringo looks up at Kal as he looks at the blank document, "maybe there's some magic ink or something on it. We should it near a small flame?" Ringo takes his pipe and tobacco pouch from his bag and then packs the pipe. He then takes out his candle and flint and strikes the flint over the candle wick and on the second try spark catch the wick on fire. Using the candle he lights his pipe and then offers his candle to Kalmar to use. Puffing on his pipe, Ringo thinks back to his time performing with the Phantom Players, when their in-house illusionist, Mortichie the Magnificant, would use different types of inks to write messages for the troupe members he would plant in the audience when performing his mind-reading tricks.
History/Investigation ((not sure what check it would be)): 9
((Yeah, I think long rest is the way to go. From both Kal’s and my perspective I don’t see sneaking through the tunnels doing us any good as far as recovering Floon goes. How good of a look did the Kenku who got away get at our faces? Could it ID us to Xanathar? I think our best bet is negotiation since Floon is functionally useless to them we should be able to effect some kind of trade.))
Good thinking, brother! Kalmar holds the letter up to the candle to see if any script appears.
Ringo, this parchment doesn't remind you of anything that Mortichie used, nor does it react to the flame. Fluttercloak shrugs his feathered shoulders, mimicking the sound of a rock rhythmically tapping an a table. "Not--shiny!" He heads off to check under the false floor, fondly stroking the silver bars. The two are you are left to discuss.
Feel free to role play any interactions or planning, otherwise we'll go to our long rest.

Ringo shuffles his feet underneath himself and stands up. He puffs on his pipe and starts to paces back and forth, a trail of smoke following behind him. "You think we need to keep a watch tonight, or you feeling pretty safe here?"
I feel about as safe as can be here. Unless they’ve got someone watching the place, that is. Why don’t we make a couple of the beds look like there’s people in them and then the three of us all stay in one room. Kalmar continues to examine the parchment perception12 turning it this way and that looking for indentations or any other indication of writing, even smelling it to see if it gives off an odor, then tries to remember anything he’s heard about secret message methods history8
Ringo nods his head. "I'll see what I can find to start making these makeshift beds,"Ringo says and then goes searching for anything to make at least two beds, and stuffs them with whatever he can find to make it look like someone is sleeping in them.
Let’s go see if there’s some actual bedrooms upstairs. Also, what did that letter Neverember give you say? Anything interesting? As for getting rid of this loot, Flutter, why don’t you disguise yourself and offload these goods at a fence so that if any Zhentarim coming looking for the people who stole them there’s nothing to point to us.
Fluttercloak nods, squawking “After—sewers!” The three of you are able to arrange a suitable bedroom upstairs where you continue talking. Kalmar you don’t notice anything other than the fact that the paper is completely blank and intact, no wear or tear at all. Ringo it’s easy for you to find a bunch of bedding. You hastily make a pair of beds downstairs, stuffing the blankets into two humanoid forms, before taking the rest upstairs. Fluttercloak and Kalmar are peering over the parchment.

A collection of folding noises. A squawk, the flap of wings. Kalmar exclaiming “Ah a message!” It seems you’ve found a [Tooltip Not Found].

Ringo watches at the paper bird comes alive. "Well **** me, it's alive!" Ringo, reminded by Kalmar, pulls out the scroll and looks at the symbol and shows it to Kalmar. I think I've seen this before (history: 8 ), but what do you two recallanything?" he asks his companions.
((I feel like Kalmar would have heard of the Harpers on account of his backstory, probably his father referring to them as well intentioned meddlers or something like that.))
((It will only come alive when one of us writes a message and speaks the name of the recipient))
I think it would be reasonable for you to both recognize the symbol of the Harpers. You've heard them to be a loosely organized group of, as you say, well intentioned meddlers. Their specific goals are varied as there is little central organization, but their overall aim is to gather political information an promote equity throughout Faerun. Let me get another raw INT check for flavor.

Kalmar, you open the parchment to read...nothing. The paper is blank. It is oddly well preserved for a solitary scrap of parchment.
