My supposition is that they don't want the crew to mutiny from the rumors of ships not returning from the voyage there, Nutsy. He says this loud enough for their small group to hear.

Back and ready to DM and chew bubblegum. And I'm alllll outta bubblegum.
When the drow who called himself Jarlaxle left would Delkin be able to follow after him a little ways, I just want to see if he is leaving the Yawning Portal and which way he heads once outside:
To Virnelis, "Yes, I figured we'd be sailing, Valkur protect us... I was asking about the place Ephraim mentioned, from where ships do not return. I'm starting to resent all this secrecy."
"Ah, well, I've not been to the Isles myself, not much more than heard of them. There's enough rumors of that sort about most places more than a day's journey from the coast I haven't paid any mind to any particular location."
Eliadra takes an amulet that had been swinging around her neck. It has a slight glow to it. Unconcerned that the secret she'd been trying to conceal is out, a tear or two rolls down her cheeks as she examines it. "I know you're alive, but where are you?" she whispers. "Why go on that godless expedition in the first place? Why leave me?" The trickle of tears slowly becomes a waterfall as she finishes her questions, and she buries her face in her hands.
Saba looks pretty uncomfortable, but decides on a way to step up. Lady Eliadra, ma'am, if there is a tale you have - it may help us succeed, help us survive, help us find who's lost. It may help just to tell it. Discretely, please ma'am, but help us help you and help Waterdeep.

Drako looks around. He has no idea how to handle this situation. He can't hit Eliadra's sadness into submission so he just backs off and lets the others handle it. He's never fancied himself to be good in social situations... (In spite of having a 16 in CHA.)
There, there my dear. Everything will be just fine. Trust me, I'm old enough to know.Ephraim pulls out a handkerchief, cleans it with prestidigitation, then gets a glass of milk from the bar and warms it with another prestidigitation. Perhaps a return to the ship and a good night's sleep will do you well. If you don't mind the company of an old man, I may join you. Obviously I won't be getting any eyestalks tonight.

At Eliadra's words Aethos seems visibly perturbed, "Worryst not dear Lady. Dry thine eyes. Mine companions and I shallst doeth all we canst to find the person thy seeks."
Watching Ephraim's actions in awe, he continues, "Mayhaps it would be best if thou goes with kindly Ephraim here."
Aethos stiffly, awkwardly pats Eliadra gently on the back.
Drako turns to Elsa and raises an eyebrow. The look on his face says, "Really? You couldn't have said that like tomorrow morning when the boss ISN'T crying?"
Saba tries to visually reassure Drako, and takes advantage of a sob to mouth and signal to the A-team: It's ok, Elsa is fine, she's kinda right too, we want lady E to talk, not be soothed. If Doorhall seems to be headed into Ephraim's shoulder for a cry or an escort to the ship, she'll whisper to the squirrel, Try to get the whole story

Eliadra took the handkerchief and blew her nose. Dabbing at her eyes, she replies, "I will tell you more when it is time. Speak nothing to the crew, but I do speak the truth when I say we sail for Orlumbar." She drinks the milk. "Many thanks for the drink. Should I need a cuddlebuddy, I will have you assist me. I'll see you in the morning."
For Delkin's eyes: (Also, sorry mate, I had it in the last post, and it vanished)
Jarlaxle walks into the edge of a street. Another figure greets him. "Are you certiain this is wise, Jarlaxle?" "Yes. We lost Mi'kele on their expedition. I want to know his fate as well." "Which means that Doorhall isn't the most happy about seeing you." "The surface has a different concept of kin than we do. Here they actually love one another. Down in Mezoberran, they would stab each other to be elderboy or weaponsmaster." The other figure scoffed. "Do we even know if they're alive?" "If Lady Doorhall's necklace glows, her brother lives. That means there's a chance for Mi'kele to be alive." "I'd say more than a chance."

At every session, I say, "Everyone's here, except Waluigi."
Saba tries to nod sympathetically as Eliadra cries and recovers. Good night ma'am and after she leaves Well, eff, that was a disappointing answer. I thought we had something there. At least she has reason to believe somebody somewhere is alive. I guess we've got a rescue going. I like Elsa's advice, but a sea voyage gives one a lot of in-action we have to pass first.
After whatever other bar events happen, Saba will notice Corbin getting into his cups. Our ranger is fading fast - we'd best back to the ship, A-Gang. Dawn is none too far off.

Corbin fetches a glass of water and more whiskey to pour into his waterskin.
"Lady Doorhall, your drink.", he says, then retreats to the edge of the group with the feeling that he interrupted a serious discussion.

To Virnelis, silently: "From where are ships not returning? It isn't where we're headed, is it?"
[[Bit of flashback...]]
Elsa is polite but embarrassed at being rescued, and mutters quietly, but a little petulantly, "I can fight my own battles."
[[The Now]]
Elsa really looked uncomfortable when the drow was there, more so with the hooded figure. She relaxes when Elladra reveals herself.
