"Yes, yes, yes, thank you, thank you, thank you," Rillo leaps from his seat, shaking the hands of each of the party. "I could not possibly be more grateful. I am off to the temple, then. I told her working with this Gauntlet Order would be over her head, you know. We are going to have a good hard talk about it...right after I make her a nice hot meal, of course."
The gnome makes it halfway to the door before doubling back and placing your payment on the table. "As promised. Thank you all again, ever so much!" he shouts, and walks briskly into the night sky. A short time later, Ola enters the tavern, having completed some shopping moments before the stores in Phlan closed for the night.
OOC: Split evenly, each character has received 10 gp. In addition, there is a fine magnifying glass to be claimed.
For her part in reporting the prison to the Black Fist, Ola has received 75 XP, bringing her to the adventure minimum.
In addition, each character has gained the feature Bane of the Order. The party has publicly feuded with the Order of the Gauntlet. Its members are aware of their current standing with the new group of adventurers, and any Charisma checks when dealing with members of the Order of the Gauntlet will be made at disadvantage until the groups' attitudes toward each other have improved.
Leaving a moment to close out any roleplaying in the tavern before advancing to downtime.
"Oh, can I have the magnifying glass? It looks cool." Regardless of their answers, Zelra will plop down in a seat with a sigh of relief."Nothing better then beating the shit out of corrupt ******* guards... well actually, killing them would've been better but meh. Getting on the bad side of the Order is always great as well."
(Question... which faction is Ola a part of again? I thought it was the Order but I guess I'm remembering that wrong.)
"Is not it ironic that they call themselves "The Order"?"echoed Ola entering the tavern. "But do not regret spared lives: if not for your soul sake - then for safer existence in Phlan it was the right choice. Black Guards are not happy with "adventurer's activity" either. I think in this case we can not be blamed - the guards were informed in time, but in the future it might be something to consider." "Good night, everybody."Ola nodded and went to the room - the day was very long and tiresome.
Not complaining or asking you to do something you are dead set on doing, but Sylyra was specifically trying to avoid any way anyone could identify him with what was going on. Would he still have earned Bane of the Order since the elf only saw him as a horse, and he didn't go to the temple? The only ones who would have seen him as himself would have been the prisoners.
"To me," Uragum says, "my payment is use of his workshop. Saves me on buying the tools, securing a space or rent. Plus, if we leave, I dont have to worry about." He takes a swing of his drink. "I guess next we just need some special items and I can make some magic items."
"More for us," Sylyra shrugs. He leans forward and starts dividing the coin into four piles. "Fine with me if you take the glass," he comments to Zelra without looking up. "I'll hold on to Ola's cut until tomorrow since she's already gone to bed."
DM only:
I don't know how you feel about changing the coin division, but Uragum did say his payment was the use of the workshop. Aaaaaaand ... if you could add Ola's coin to Sylyra's until she asks for it ... that'd be swell. Playing a borderline bad guy is interesting. Of course, if the others are smart, they'll call him out on it.
OOC: It sounds like Uragum is giving up his share of the payment because of the access he has gained to the workshop, but I'd like to confirm that before I split up that coin.
Fine magnifying glass has been added to Zelra's inventory.
For Sylyra:
OOC: That does sound to me like Uragum is giving up his share, but I'm going to confirm that with him before I add any of his share to your inventory sheets just to make sure. I would prefer to keep Ola's coins on her sheets...I summarized the events to keep things moving, but divvying up your shares would have likely occurred once Ola had arrived. I split up loot as evenly as possible in these games to avoid any unintentional party conflict, but feel free to run the idea to roleplay something like that past the party and if they are cool with it I will have no problem shifting coins around to allow that RP to happen.
Sylyra does have Bane of the Order because of his association with the party, but the Order of the Gauntlet is aware (as far as they know) that he was not with the party when words were exchanged. Essentially, he will have disadvantage on Charisma checks when dealing with the Order of the Gauntlet, but the DC on his rolls might not be as difficult as the rest of the party's.
The party settles in once more to the bunks of Madame Freona's Tea Kettle, victorious but weary. It has been a long day, but the Danger at Dusk has been averted.
OOC: Congratulations on yet another successful mission. Each character has gained the benefits of a long rest. We are now entering a period of five days of downtime. What would each character like to do with this short time off before the next call to adventure begins?
Over the next five days Arnald will again spend his days teaching archery to those interested in learning. But this time, he'd like to spend his evening shooting dice in the hopes of making more coin. Arnald has a proficiency in dice and, for what it's worth, does have his own set. And, he's feeling the need to blow off some steam so he's willing to risk up to 20 gold.
If any of the Order of the Gauntlet folks do happen around Arnald during this time, he will attempt to be friendly with them as he would really like to befriend them. But, should they be less that cordial, he'll simply ignore them... unless they're willing to gamble on archery or dice.
Ola will continue her work in Temple (can I get feat Healer already? :) J/k) still listening about dragon related activities around, but not actively collecting and pursuing rumours.
To DM!
First, I would never believe Sylyra does not read spoilers - true secrets go to PM, and if you regularly post about your interaction with other people under the spoilers, you intent for them to find it out.
Second, Sylyra can keep Ola's money - she would never ask about them and since she spent her time saving party from their choices, not fighting/rescuing anyone, she would not take a copper from the gnome anyway.
(Ooc: from page 29's post about Uragum's down time I had asked if enough time hed add the protection from good and evil scroll to his book but I got no response and I didnt follow up. It's a 1st level spell so would only take 2 hours of time to do so. Are we going to say he did it then if not hed do it during this time, cost 50 gp.)
Uragum spends a bit of his time searching the markets for a diamond worth 50 gold (spell component for chromatic orb). He will then spend a bit of time wondering through the woods around him while casting detect magic. Specifically searching for magic infused wood to craft a wand from.
If by chance he finds some he'd mark it in his map, take a cutting from the tree as to not kill it or cut it all down and take it back. Assuming that if he dies find it, it would take up most if not all of the down time. If not, he'll scribe a 1st level scroll for 25 gp.
The first day, Sylyra will write a letter to his mother. This letter is different from the ones in the past. It does not beg her to bring him home. It does not even ask her to send money. He gives her an account of what's been going on lately, the party he's put together, and how, under his leadership, he's molding them into a strong force for justice along the north shore of the Moonsea. He describes the adventures they've been on. First, how he happened upon a hapless bunch of townies being terrorized by bandits in a barn, and how he rescued them and a dragon egg. How a member of a super-secret society of elite warriors begged him to join, and how he did for the sole reason of making their ranks even stronger. Then, when a priest needed a brave soul to venture into the depths of a haunted crypt, he had been sought out and paid a handsome ransom to venture below and vanquish the waiting undead. Following that, while minding his own business and enjoying a glass of Phlan's finest wine in the town's most extravagant dining establishment, he had to intervene and rescue the entire dining room from an errant magical weapon. And, finally, he just yesterday rescued a kidnapped child halfling who was on the cusp of being tortured by corrupt lawmen. If he had not acted when he did — followed the clues to find her within their secret torture chamber — who knows what horrors the helpless child would have been subjected to? He finishes the letter by wishing his father and mother well.
Another day, he will also seek the moon elf named Olisara Lightsong at The Laughing Goblin.
If finding Olisara does not interfere, and if Uragum or Zelra go to the pits to fight, he will go and fight. If that fight goes well, he will go a second day to try again.
Villonah does not make it to this week's lessons while she recovers, but attendance is still somewhat steady. Gambling at nighttime brings you a fair amount of success, and while rolling dice in The Laughing Goblin one night, you happen to meet a half-orc man named Zern who works for the Order of the Gauntlet; a brute of a man, but surprisingly pleasant compared to the attitude of the others you are taking money from. After relieving him of a few gold pieces, he tells you that despite your party getting off on the wrong foot with his faction, they are in need of as much help as they can get. He tells you that if you are ever interested in joining to meet him at the Dawn Fane, an abandoned temple.

After being horribly beaten, Zelra spends much of her time after the fights getting drunk and swearing to do better next time. Whenever she sees the others in the tavern, she would drag them to sit with her and force them to listen to her rants and complaints, though she probably wouldn't notice if they left mid-rant and would just continue talking to herself.
DM:
After her last fight, despite not earning anymore coin, she'll head to the Havenstone House and drop off another 55gp with a note saying "Well, it's not like I mind paying you guys off cuz I did mess up pretty bad but I was just wondering how much more I owe you guys. I'm staying at Madam Freona's, but I'm guessing you would already know that."
(Did the math, Zelra has paid 145gp so far in the campaign. I'm gonna assume there's a lot more of the debt left haha)
Sylyra asks Olisara for descriptions of Imizael and Fat Mar and assures her he will do as she asks.
When Zelra grabs the elf to stew about her experience in the pits, Sylyra happily joins her so that he can make his own complaints about how unfair it was that they put him in the pit with the half-orc. It's a comical exchange, since neither is really listening to the other, only wishing to vent and seek justification in their feelings of injustice. Unlike Zelra, Sylyra is not drunk, just self-absorbed.
When all five are together, following his meeting with Olisara, Sylyra tells the others that he secured a lead for better-paying jobs.
After hearing of the pact and recalling the prior warning of not bringing that dangerous dragon tooth into the forest, Uragum takes some time to think on the matter. If the Fey protect it, then it's clear that there is something magical in nature about the place. He thinks to himself that it might be worth while to open a dialogue with them and perhaps broker a trade.
Back at the Uragum, is at their usual table. Having a simple meal as he ponders the best way to approach the Fey in the forest.
Three tendays ago, seven adventurers arrived in Phlan individually, seeking work and coin. After a series of successful missions, five of them have discovered themselves to be a tried and true party of adventurers. Arnald the Keen, an archer of some renown, whose pet hawk Sly affords him an extra edge in combat. Ola do Mari, a blue-skinned elf, a Cloak of the Lord's Alliance, whose doubt in her healing abilities and combat prowess quickly fades with each successful mission. Sylyra Wasanthi, a brash and cocky elf, a Watcher of the Harpers, whose abilities as a druid have grown to include shifting into the forms of beasts. Uragum, a towering juxtaposition of strength and intellect, who can deal death with ice as easily as with his fists. Zelra Vitale, a Fang of the Zhentarim, a shadowy rogue with a soft spot for the downtrodden of despots.
A running theme hints at a greater enemy to come, but for now, the Danger at Dusk has been thwarted.

OOC: The adventure continues in Secrets of Sokol Keep...
