The chain mail appears to be a standard quality; it has held together despite whatever scorched it. Wes detects magic, but does not see anything radiate an aura except for items on his own person, as well as Aradurk's cloak.
The book that tops the stack is titled "Bunk & Wagnall's Unexpurgated Dictionary".
"Ha! Not on it, my friend, but underneath it. I'll explain in a moment," Roccar chuckles.
The door opens once more, and the imposing frames of Gruun and Rycider enter the safehouse. "Ah, good. We're all here. There's coin on the table for you, get yourself settled in and I'll begin," Roccar says.
OOC: Removed 142 gold pieces from Killian's inventory. Added 24 gold pieces (Killian's 142 + the 6 extra gp) to the inventories of the rest of the party, leaving 4 gold pieces to be claimed.
Petunia rushes towards the door to meet Rycider. As she does so, Wes will take a find his place in the group to sit down a listen. Holding the crystal and peering into it as he waits for Roccar to begin.
Karst seems quiet, his mood contemplative. Having taken his coin he sits patiently waiting for Roccar to enlighten them regarding their next steps. As he does he idly runs long, battle hardened fingers over the etching in the blade of his axe, tracing the patterns over and again.

OOC: Lot of information coming (the full story), so I'll be sure to take some pauses for input, comments, questions, etc. from the characters. Also a lot of names incoming, so it might be a good idea to utilize the Notes section of your character sheets to refer to later if you don't already take notes separately.
Roccar stands silently for a moment, opens his mouth a few times without saying anything, then lets out a prolonged breath. "You've all earned the full story. We've tried to keep most of it to ourselves, but the betrayals of our former companions and all that your efforts have accomplished have proven that Mary and I can't handle this all on our own," he begins.
"I have been working for the wizard Denorian Armour. Some of you have dealt with him recently, and you've seen his current condition. But...I should start from the beginning.
This whole situation started during a fierce war between the Longhunt orc clan and my people, the Uthgardt. Before my time as the Watchblade of Sundabar, I led a company of veteran warriors in my home lands: The Reavers. During this war, we fought alongside my friend Thane, and a party of adventurers under his brother's employ. Thane was on a journey of revenge, you see. The Longhunts murdered his brother and his family, taking his nieces captive. Together we turned the tide of the war, fending off a raiding party of orcs and worgs almost a hundred strong, with only a dozen of my men and Thane's party of five: the dwarf Elrik, the half-elf Diana, the gnome Fargim, the hobgoblin Volthero, and the kobold servant Hox. We took the fight to the orcs, chasing them across the land all the way to the Sands of Ascore, raiding their encampment during a sandstorm, and killing their chieftain Scar. It become known as the Longhunt Annihilation. We struck so swiftly, so decisively, that only a single Reaver met his end that day, yet the orcs were scattered. But Thane's niece was slain in the battle by Scar himself, simply to keep her from Thane. We discovered she had been with child, and saved the babe; a half-orc we named Dazzar.
It was there, near the Pyramids of Ascore, that my men stumbled upon a cave-in while chasing down escaping orcs. The tunnels within led to ancient tombs and shrines, long hidden by the sandstorms through the ages. In one chamber, we found a sword, melded into the stone floor. It is that sword you see in the other room, Aradurk. I brought it here for study, but it stuck in the stone, and quite dangerous to touch; but I will get back to solving that mystery later...
The passageways we found...many had recently been caved in, but we found little etchings, inscriptions, and art that disturbed us to our core - strange depictions of unknown, formless elder deities long forgotten. Some things should remain buried..."
"We met a bard on the road once, do you remember Aradurk, he spoke of these adventurers and we left him with your people in the end Roccar, he suffered terribly at the hands of the orcs, we took vengeance for the harm they caused him." Vhon - Level 2 Warlock - What shall become of the Drunken Sailor?
"Aye. Old Poe lost his hands and face to those orcs. His time as a bard ended that day, but still he lives on. It'll take more than a loss of limbs to stop that old coot.
So I took the troubling knowledge I found in the pyramids and brought it to Ser Mary Glendale, the Warblade of Sundabar. It was there that Fumbles McNilbog found me; you've all met the gnome, may his soul forever be protected. He recruited me to assist Denorian. Fumbles informed me that the wizard was collecting magical staffs to stop the very evil I had faintly grasped from the discovered arcana, and had a collection of documents of his own from beneath Ascore. The chambers beneath the pyramids had been built in secret, as a spiritual rebuke and desecration for the religious figures entombed above. They were built by elder elves, who tunneled in from the Underdark.
Based on the parchments the two had collected, Fumbles believed there was a cache of these staffs, Staffs of the Magi, under those red pyramids. I trusted him, and Ser Mary and I believed that the forces driving the orcs into the Silver Marches were connected to this "Elder Evil"; the very same forces that caused the strange appearances that Ser Mary recruited Aradurk and Karst to investigate, along with the rogues Bartram and Travus, and the peculiar kobold monk Meepo. It was on this mission that I met them, when they found Old Poe on the side of the road and drove away the orcs and hobgoblins that had tortured him.
The situation with the orcs had grown tense. The orc kingdom of Many Arrows had swollen, and the truce they held with the cities of Luruar was on the brink of collapse. Ser Mary and I, along with Rowan, the Watchblade of Sundabar, Ser Mary's attendant Sal, and Fumbles accompanied Aradurk, Karst, Bartram, Meepo, and a dwarven cleric named Murmen to a diplomatic discussion known as the Devilsfall Pact. The treachery there nearly plunged the realm into a war that could not be won...
Rowan betrayed us. Sal despised the orcs, and Rowan leveraged her hatred, convincing her to poison the wine given to the orc leader as a gift. Rowan himself was gone, on his way to assassinate Denorian's mother, Trelanna Armour, and frame it on the orcs; but Aradurk, Karst, and the others tracked him down and prevented the assassination at the final moment."
"I still wish I had got to Rowan myself, he would have regretted his treachery in all the few seconds his life would have had left in it, but I can see now the greatest shame I have is my lack of faith in Fumbles, he was a far better gnome than I gave him credit for back then." Karst stares out away from the others "When described like that though out story does have a certain heroic sound to it, I could get used to those stories being told once we have ultimately triumphed of course."
He seems a little preoccupied with processing the successes and failures of their missions in the past. Finally he laughs a little." Meepo! He was a character, I hoe he is safe wherever he is."
Wes keeps attentive to the story, waiting the hear all the facts before weighing in on the situation. While he sits quietly Petunia is seen sitting at his feet, watching and seemingly listening to the story as well.
“I was glad to see the peaceful repopulation of the Orc peoples. You spoke of all the old gods and pyramids. What of the floating thing we kept seeing. My poor brain...”
Aradurk sits in the chair holding his head, his mind aflutter with the recollection past allies and adversaries.
