"Yes, several times," replies Tambor. "Apparently it is possible to sometimes become a sorcerer through the use of external agents, but alas it seems that doesn't work for me."

After another moment's silence, he says, "I presume you can see the glimmer of magick around my head and are perhaps a little surprised at this, but it is simply a minor protective enchantment placed on me by Saladin. It doesn't mean anything, and it is very frustrating."

Do a See the arcane.

As Tambor watches on, Guilliame closes his eyes and opens them with his mage sight active. The sheriff's head is surrounded by the faintest aura of magic, not unlike those Guilliame has seen at the School when viewing a fellow student at the School of Occult Studies when they only have enough magic left to cast cantrips.

Tambor's head snaps around. "You can see a working spell?" he asks, clearly surprised. "There should not be any active spell on me that I know of. Can you remove it?"

[OOC: This is actually not possible as this cantrip represents the activation of an ability inherent in innate (and latent) sorcerers: Mage Sight. If Tambor was a latent sorcerer like Guilliame, there would be some way that Tambor's own mage sight (and innate sorcery) could be activated, just as Guilliame's is by the iron band given to him by Wamzut. However, Tambor might not be a latent sorcerer, in which case he will never have mage sight.

FYI, there may be items that allow people to see, or otherwise sense, the magic in the world around them, but they are not commonly available.

[OOC: Based on what Guilliame can see with his See the Arcane cantrip (and the result of the previous Arcana check), the amount of magick concentrated on Tambor's person is more than one might see if a magic user had used all their levelled spells for the day (though still be capable of casting cantrips), but less than if he were currently under the effects of a 1st level spell.

Note, that Guilliame would not put it in those terms to Tambor, but it might give you some idea of the power level involved (i.e., relatively minor, but there are 1st level spells like Burning Hands that can kill a normal person, so don't immediately assume that what Guilliame is seeing can't be dangerous).

Also note, that humans who are not innate sorcerers tend not to have any magick about their person at all, unless they are under the effect of a spell; the iron-rich nature of human blood tends to absorb magick out of the environment upon contact with the skin.]
