Kasaaptu is entertained by the flying, mischievous monkeys and resists the urge to toss them a chunk of food. It wouldnt be good to have them following us the rest of the way. She also makes sure to mention the cat-person so everyone is aware they are about.. she estimates their position in her journal based on the map and the amount t of hours they have been walking.
Sickle the item seems to be a necklace, made from some vegetation and with a leaf bound on it. It's quite well made. He examines it as he walks. The leaf moves oddly on the end of it, and it doesn't take too long for him to realize that the whole thing is very light. Putting it around his neck makes him feel equally light, and as he walks he takes a few small jumps and finds he falls a touch slower, landing with a light touch. The small charm seems to grant him feather fall.
Everyone is told about the cat person Kasaaptu noticed, but though everyone keeps their eyes peeled, you don't see him again.
Meanwhile, the playful monkeys are funny, but promptly descend on the group and start grabbing whatever they can get their hands on. One sits on Hammu's back, digging through a bag. Indiana start barking loudly. Their little fingers seem to dig grab at everything and suddenly the hop and are flying away. Sickle, one managed to sneak a day's ration out of your backpack and is flying away with it. Silas, one of them managed to sneak your tinder box out of your backpack and is swinging away with it. Kasaaptu, one is trying to pull your whole healing kit out of Hammu's packs but you leap over and get your hand on it, the creature hops away and flees. Badger, you spin to see one hopping away with your sling he must have pulled from your belt. And Barty, one has pulled five arrows out your quiver and is chittering as he flees. Darak, one has grabbed the torch out of the side of a pack and is running with it.
Azaka swats one away from her pack sending it twirling and chittering into a bush, from which is flees.
They seem to all be fleeing with the treasures they've grabbed.
"Did anyone lose anything important?" Silas questioned as he watches his tinderbox disappear from sight before looking at everyone else. Silas will try to help anyone who want their stuff back, he's willing to lose the TInderbox.

Badger, please make a magical attack roll with the hand to try and grab the item back. (OOC: I know technically the hand can't "attack", but we're just resolving a "grab" action, which I think is ok in this situation. DM imagines the 12th level Gnome wizard using mage hand to pull the phylactery out of Acerak's hand later on...... 'i could do it with the monkey though!'... sigh) The monkey tries to resist with a dex(athletics) check: 10. (If you beat him, you get your sling back, otherwise he gets away. You can use portent to modify his roll if you wish.)
Azaka regards Sir Darak's question with a relatively flat expression, "Yes. We could spend a week here while I walk you through all of the threats in the jungle. Undead have overrun this entire jungle and can be found most everywhere. They attack Port Nyanzaru all the time. There are also dinosaurs, snake people, lizard people, frog people, lizards, snakes, terror folk, jaguars, jaculi...which are jaguars with a mane of poison snakes, and mist that will drive you crazy. Not to mention people. People are generally the WORST. Pretty much everything in these jungles are trying to kill you. These monkeys are a minor annoyance at most. As for activity across the river. You may want to potentially investigate it, it's really your choice, but...i'm not sure how we'd get across the river. We'd have to travel back most of the day to the village with the barge. Then back again to get back across again. Unless we want to try to swim. There are crocodiles, and dinosaurcs, and snakes, and leeches, lizards, disease, snapping turtles, and currents to contend with. Plus...you look like you sink. So, assuming you can't fly, I say we continue on our way, and don't worry, there are plenty of undead in the jungle for you to 'investigate'."
(You guys can change plans if you like at this point. I'm going to push forward a bit just to be expedient, but if you decide you want to cross the river we can do that instead...)
The group gathers up their goods, making sure to be extra vigilant with securing everything, and continues. An hour later you come across a water way to wide to cross. Azaka seems to be looking around, trying to get her bearings, and then says, "We have to follow this river way to find a place to cross." With that, the party turns east and begins following the tributary. You spent the rest of the way heading that way. As daylight starts to fail, Azaka begins looking for a good camp spot as you continue on. Eventually she locates a good spot to camp, just a few hundred feet in from the tributary. A large lizard scampers out from under a bush as you approach. Lightning fast, Azaka shrugs off her longbow, whipping out an arrow and fires. The arrow skewers the thing and it rolls to a halt. Azaka looks 'happy' for perhaps the first time and wanders over to it, her eyes aglow, "Good eating." The group sets up camp, and begins their evening routines for their second night in the jungle. The light fades quickly and soon the humid warm jungle outside the small lights you have is a sea of darkness.
As people are milling about fetching dinner, and while Azaka has skewered the lizard and is starting a fire to roast it over, everyone hears some loud cracking noises from the trees above. Too much movement to be a small snake or individual animal. Everyone freezes, glancing skywards into the dark bushes above. You see several large black shapes in the branches well above you. You hear a creepy lizard like yelping noise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcmoJFJYJgE&list=PLl6x8oZhYB9F5hS-5-XwhdTH9WWnrikYW&index=29). Azaka, "Terror folk...."

The large shadows overhead are hopping from branch to branch, knowing their attempt to surprise the party is blown, as they position themselves above. Badger, scanning the shadows above mutter some arcane words while drawing a pattern in the air before him, and then throws a touch of sand at himself. Mystical energy dancing around him for a moment then is gone. Sir Darak, shouting for his men to take cover raises his shield as they move next to a tree, under a branch, hoping to get some cover from above. He also lowers his free hand to his chest, mumbling words in offer to Tyr's greatness, asking for his blessing. Sir Darak, Silas, Sickle, you feel a supernatural energy fill your bones.
Barty turns to Indiana, "Find cover where you can, stay away from them!" He then leaps to the side, pulling out his bow and aiming an arrow into the darkness above, releasing it. An arrow slams off the side of one of the shadows, twirling away into the darkness. Then Barty rolls beneath a bush and most of the group loses site of him. Indiana looks around, barking at the air excitedly, wondering what the heck his master said to him before he vanished forever.
Azaka pulls out her bow as well, almost making a growling hiss sound as she aims carefully and looses and arrow. Attack: 14 Damage: 8
Kasaaptu moves in nearer to the fire with her back to the flames, her lithe form outlined by the flames, as she pulls darkness from around her and releases a blast of energy into the shadows above. There's the sound of a heavy impact and a screech of pain. With her right hand she is holding the yklwa in a defensive position over her head tilted in a downward angle and her left hand she is making the entwined finger signs of eldritch power as she readies another blast of magic.

A javelin slams into Sickle with a thud, largely going off of his armor but cracking some ribs.
Kasaaptu is struck in the shoulder, a loud crack and a spray of blood which she accepts with a vicious pain filled grin. Another javelin drops just by her right foot, slamming into the ground.
A javelin slams into Azaka, with an "oof" she absorbs the blow, no blood, just the blow, as she draws another arrow.
Indiana leaps out of the way of two javelins, both were meant to be killing blows but he's dodged them both.
Hamma however is struck by both javelins and collapses to the ground with a pained screech. He's still screeching, so not dead, but definitely down and in pain.
