Kasaaptu points up in anger, and one of the shadows is consumed in dark flames, screeching loudly in pain and anger. (Save: 13, Damage: 2) She then summons her dark energy once more, unleashing a blast up into the shadows where another heavy "thud" is heard and another shriek in pain. Badger, crouching by a stump summons blue sparkling energy into a ball in his hand and then throws it into the leaves above where it explodes with the sound of shattering glass across one of the dark shadows which hisses loudly.
Sir Darak barks his commands in anger, wondering why the foolish Sedrik hadn't been trying harder to get out of the way, he launches the javelin into the air and a shriek issues, several gobs of bright red blood fly down from above and splatter across the ground.
Sickle holds his hand out, a blade of ice forming there, and throws it into the air towards two targets that are close together. The dagger explodes with a concussive bang and two creatures shriek. (Dex save: 6. Dex save: 21.). He throws another, the ice blade hitting something with a wet thud before again exploding. (Dex save: 4. Dex save: 4.).

Sickle's second ice knife explodes and a large creature falls from the sky, crashing through branches and slamming into the ground with a thud.
The dead creature's body is cut and damaged by numerous wounds, and is quite large. You figure it could probably grab and fly away with a full sized human. Under the onslaught of magic energy being blasted up into them and arrows, and having done minimal impact to the large group, the dark shadows flee, leaping up into the higher branches and taking cover behind trees as they fly away, shrieking in pain and anger.
Azaka calmly walks over the creature and from point blank, puts an arrow through the creatures skull. "No, not undead. These are Pterafolk. These are the creature we will face at Firefinger." Gregory is doing his best to stop the flow of blood but the wound in Sedrik's leg is pretty bad and has soaked through a gregory's shirt which he's pulled off to jam into the wound.
Hammu is laying on it's side, mewling in misery and pain with two javelin's jammed into it's body. The jungle feels quiet in the aftermath of the battle, even Indiana having stopped his barking and just looking around wondering where his master went. He trots over to the Pterafolk body to sniff at it.

It was said that once long ago they could assume other forms, but it's believed those rights are lost to them. Forms such as wingless lizard folk or flying dinosaurs. Their typical attack pattern is to either soften up prey and test them with an assault from above, or to swoop down and steal both people or goods away in a quick attack before fleeing. They're native to Chult. Generally they're isolationists, and view most other creatures as their enemies. And as mentioned, the ones that home in Fire Finger stole something from me that's part of my family. An ancient mask. As for fire finger, it's a naturally formed spire of rock about three hundred feet tall that a clan of Pterafolk roost on. The last two days of hiking through jungle in humid warmth has been draining, and the post-battle adrenalin crash is enough to send most people into solid sleep. The small fire crackles throughout the night, the insects, animals, and screeches of distant animals form a background of noise. The sluggish wind pushing through the leaves a gentle backdrop to it all. Sedrik in particular seems to sleep rather fitfully, tossing and turning all night long. There is no rain.
As the sky lightens, the group awakens, has their breakfast and breaks camp, following Azaka. Sedrik walks with a bit of a limp, continuously rubbing his thigh as if feeling the memory of his wound. The temperature begins to climb as the group heads back to the tributary to continue following it. Azaka takes several pauses throughout the morning to check the surroundings and get her bearings. You stop at noon to eat, watching your water dwindle since the last collection the previous night. But, it's not long after you continue that large drops begin to fall and Azaka stops, "Rain time. Get out the catchers." Soon the rain is sheeting down as you sit about, watching the rain catchers slowly fill. Soon enough supplies are replenished and though the rain continues, Azaka leads you on.
You're all drenched as the rain continues to sheet down. Azaka finally spots a place in the river she's been looking for, "We can cross here. Watch your footing, and, let's keep our eyes open."
The line of twelve figures (dog and dino included) climb down into the muddy bottomed river, the water brown and impossible to see through. Azaka leads, using a stick to poke ahead of her in the water as you slowly make your way across. Your half-way across when Azaka freezes. She glances to the right, just up river, and with a suddenness that surprises all of you, a large form, 10 feet across and round bulges out of the water. It's a big turtle, and it's emerged mere feet from your line in the river. You sigh with relief, but Azaka shouts, "Out of the water!". The turtle lunges forward and bites at the nearest person, who happens to be Sickle. It's jaws are easily big enough to bite someone in half....
Attack: 7 Damage: 19
Everyone can take your actions. The river here is 90 feet across, and you're 50 feet across. It's difficult terrain.
