Leann's predicament upon waking is worse than the day before. Her wrist and hand are sore from the crushing grasp of the strange trap around her hand; her skin feels bruised and swollen beneath its grip.
Damh has picked the mace and placed it in an ancient torch-mount on the wall. It casts the room into a stark light, casting many shadows, but revealing nothing different from the night before. He sees Leann pondering her fabric wrapped and hand and comes to crouch beside her. "Are you wounded? Perhaps I can help treat your wound if you'll allow me." he looks her in the eyes, then back down to the fabric wrapped around her hand.
Tunist seems to have taken notice from across the room and sits with her head cocked to the side, one ear raised. Her huge tongue hangs from her mouth in a ridiculous fashion, offsetting her strange eyes which are trained on Leann's arm.
Twinly gives the dog an odd look, then takes to giving Tunist a careful scratch behind the ears.
Damh opens his hand, palm up, and motions towards Leann's fabric covered appendage. "Let's have a look, yes?"
Meanwhile, Hadar is busy inspecting the base of the coffin and feels the stream of cool air slowly crossing his brow. The air does not seem pressurized, just fresh and soothing. It is difficult to determine the source, but it is definitely beneath the sarcophagus, wherever it is.
Jimmer, who has been glancing nervously up the hallway by the angled light of the Radiant mace, turns away with a scowl. I don't hear a damn thing up there I'm happy to say." turning back to the room, he sees Hadar tracking down clues. "I got about that far myself last night. Nice and breezy, innit?"
He gives his fellow Ranger a bemused look and absent mindedly begins feeling the weight of one of the 6 foot long steel rods propped against the wall."Sturdy bastards, these. I can barely lift the damn thing myself. Maybe we could dig our way out with them if they weren't so blasted long and heavy."
Ashissa feels an extremely faint tingle at the back of her senses. A rattling vibration seems to be shaking her supply bag, as though some tiny is trying to worm its way out of her various equipment.
She can see that the tiny, hexagonal slot in the slab above her is vibrating as well. A high pitched, nearly imperceptible ringing is pulsing around the edges of her ear drums like a swarm of gnats. The entire stone walls of the tower and the rusty metal stairs seem to be humming with the same resonance. There is a warmth coming off everything around her. The midday heat is already overbearing, and it is becoming rather overwhelming in this cramped enclosure.
The air around Baku’s wings seems to alter in density, causing the little dragon to flap twice as hard to stay aloft. Its small body is bombarded with sound and heat as the tower becomes a funnel of bouncing energy.
As the sound and air seems to shift and crackle around them, Ashissa can hear a crashing commotion faintly from outside the tower, followed by loud banging and cursing. The Drider seems to be making progress in the Great Hall, whatever that progress may be.
The resonance in the tower is beginning to creshendo. Any sane person would certainly want to stop it if at all possible...
The item in Ashissa's satchel is revealed to be the small, locked silver box that she found when digging in the sand in the ruined library earlier in the day.
The palm-sized chest is bouncing and shaking violently as she hands it to the poor little dragon, who is still struggling to fly in the strangely altered air nearly 30 feet in the air at the top of the tower. The box seems to be drawn upwards, away from the smooth flagstones far below. Something is shaking on the inside as if it wants to be set free.
Perhaps there is a way for the mini-drag' to relieve the box of its lock...
------------------------------
In the tomb, Leann finally realized that the strange, anxious feeling of tickling magic is coming from something in her sack. The figurine and webbing beneath the cloth on her hand is now humming.
Hadar's lingering magical detection flares up around Leann's hand and bag like a quasar bursting in his retinas.
-------------------------------
As Ashissa exits the base of the tower via the South facing door, the resonance booms out of the doorway behind her, as the structure emits a vibration like a bell. Pebbles and sand have begun crumbling loose and rocks tumble intermittently from the canyon walls.
"Well this cannot be good." Leann says as she looks at her hand in its wrappings. She considers it and tries to think of a way to be rid of the statue...
"I am going to cause an area of darkness to surround me for a moment." Leann tells the others. Before doing anything else though she pulls a torch from her pack and lights it. She lays the torch on the ground before her, then makes sure she can find it when the darkness surrounds her. With that set up she gives everyone a nod, then pulls the covering from around her hand. When the darkness forms she will use the cloth to hold onto the figurine, not touching it with that other hand, and lower the web-covered hand down to the flames of the torch. She is hoping the webs are flamible, as most magical and non-magical webs tend to be. With the hand holding the cloth, she will work the figurine back and forth. If it loosens she will wrap it into the cloth and make sure no part of her contacts the thing as she stows it away, the darkness around her going away if the figurine comes free.
"Ugh, I don't want to resort to this but it seems there's no choice. Baku!"
Ashissa orders her familiar to drop the silver box on an empty place before she casts Shatter right at the edge of its lock.
She then orders Baku to try placing it once it is unlocked.
As Baku sets the chest down and moves to a safe distance, the power of Ashissa's incantation splits the lock clean in half, sending the lid flying open and nearly breakng the hinges. With lightning speed, a glimmering shard of sparkling crystal leaps from its prison and jets 30 feet directly up into the tower, hitting the slab with full force exactly in the hexagonal hole.
The humming resonance is instantly silenced, replaced by the painful ringing of angry eardrums. A crackling energy begins to spread out from the Lighthouse, raising Ashissa's hair like static and tingling her skin. Baku finds it increasingly harder to fly as the atmosphere near the tower shifts and an azure bubble grows around the two. Within the bubble, even the sound of the winds and shifting sands is oddly silent.
A dark shape enters the edge of Ashissa's vision as the Spider-man creature gallops to a halt just outside of the bubble. It grins at Ashissa and raises a Blood Red gemstone, gripping it tight as a beam fires from it toward her. The blue energy field bends at the pressure of spell before ricocheting the projectile directly back into the creature, burying itself deep in his stomach and exiting his back. It screams in agony, but within the bubble, Ashissa and Baku hear nothing.
Suddenly the spell shield contorts, drawing closer in around the lighthouse... and then explodes outward in a glorious, blinding light, amplified in beams of burning intensity by the crystal atop the tower. The body of the creature bursts with a sickening cloud of vaporized blood-steam before disappearing, along with every other defining feature of the canyon in the shock wave's wake.
Ashissa's sees the the South Guard tower collapse and turn to dust, birds above plummet and burn alive, the rocks themselves are mottled and melted in patches. The sheer devastation of the blast is shocking, the results unfathomable.
The shockwave gone, the breeze slowly returns to the scarred canyon as the lighthouse emmits a steady, sparkling glow to the valley around it. A radiant light which would certainly keep any nightly demon attacks at bay...
As the ringing leaves her ears, Ashissas can hear a crumbling of sand and rocks and... running water?! It sounds like it is coming from the direction of the GreatHall, now a charred pile of broken beams and ash.
Where the burnt shadow of the spider man once stood, something glistens in the beams from the Lighthouse as they dance back and forth.
"I think we're safe for tonight Baku. For now, let's secure what seems to be some sort of running water beneath the once Great Hall but first, see if you can find that sparkling gem that spider monstrosity held earlier."
Baku makes a short stop at the charred corpse to search for the Blood Red gemstone before she assist Ashissa on removing the rubble from the ruined hall to find the water source.

As Damh, Twinly and Tunist all gives her an odd look, waiting to see what she means, Leann removes the cloth.
Wisps of darkness creep hungrily out from beneath the cloth like a hungry demon's fingers, only to weaken in strength and intensity, before quickly receding into the webs on her hand. The light from the Mace on the wall seems to intensify around Leann as the opalescent webs begin to take on its shine, then begin to fizz and bubble. The smell the reaction gives off is awful and Damh turns and falls to the side, his meager breakfast coating his arm with acrid dejecta.
Magical radiance from Hadar's axe has negated and burned away the Darkness effect.

The creeping feeling Leann has been experiencing intensifies, and she can see that her bag has become a glowing ball of light, and a crystalline object's shape can be seen from within as it feeds on the radiance from the Mace. The light rapidly corrodes the webbing and it becomes brittle, the grip on Leann's wrist loosening until it feels like nothing more than heavy strands of strong silk on her bruised skin.
The radiant light from her pack and the mace fades away, and the figurine warms to the touch and takes on an inky and polished look, changing shape into a slightly soft, black sphere.
There is no lingering darkness as Leann sets the strange object in back in the cloth.
Leann can once again use her shield and hand!
Roll me a straight D20 please!
Damh looks from the bag, to her hand to the mace and then finally to her face, searching for her reaction."By Milil's song..."he wipes his sleeve across his lips and sighs.
Tunist has slowly padded towards Leann and is very carefully sniffing her bag from a few inches away, her ears back and one front paw raised to tap the sack...
Baku finds a melted glob of red stone, what once must have been the jewel the creature held. The object appears to be an inert piece of glass at first glance.
Ashissa could roll for Arcana when examining this stone, since Baku is there for Help, we could say no disadvantage at the moment.
As Ashissa walks to the ruinous mass which was once the hall, she finds a 10 foot wide sinkhole along her path. This should be where the Well house had been, just South of the Hall. She can hear the rush of an underground water source and feel the cool breeze of a fast moving stream. The sand and pebbles around the hole are still sifting their way down in great plumes, and the hole is slowly growing in size.
Just past the Well hole, the meager remains of the Hall lay. There is not much to be found, aside from short, collapsed stone walls supports forming the rectangular shape of the foundation. Anything wood has been incinerated, besides lumps of burnt coal from the largest of the massive rafter beams. The sand has been piled in great, half melted drifts against the inner walls, creating a crusty silicate layer that crunches when she steps through it, like icy snow.
Roll for a skill check for Baku's Perception (@ advantage per his sheet) please.
Whenever you're ready, it's safe to take a long rest anywhere in the canyon for the night (to catch up with the other group's timeline since they took a rest). The Lighthouse seems to be the reason this place was called Safety for so long. It's radiance is piercing, shining laterally and up into the afternoon air, leaving the ground in a warm, indirect glow.

"Well that was not what I expected." Leann says as she finishes wrapping up the ball object. she frowns at her pack and opens it to figure out what was glowing in there. "Any idea what that was?" she asks the dog, who seems to be smarter than all of the rest of them combined lately.
Meanwhile, Hadar is busy inspecting the base of the coffin and feels the stream of cool air slowly crossing his brow. The air does not seem pressurized, just fresh and soothing. It is difficult to determine the source, but it is definitely beneath the sarcophagus, wherever it is.

Leann manages to hold back the bile in her throat as Damh stands and looks around the room at the others.
Twinly and Jimmer seem to be confused as to what the commotion is all about. Shrugging they turn back to the opposite wall, conferring about how to move forward with trying to escape this tomb.
As Leann squeezes the cloth around the obsidian object, she can feel it has turned to what feels like an almost malleable material. It does not exude any sort of dark feelings or energy that she can detect. It seems to have become like a ball of clay, warm and waiting to take shape.
Tunist gives Leann a few grumbling, almost talkative whimpers and wiggles her eyebrow spots, one and then the other in a slightly comical fashion. She rudely sticks her nose deep into Leann's pack and begins sniffing. Pulling her nose out of the backpack, she gives it another nudge before gracing Leann's hand with a very wet nose poke. Turning away with her sniffer to the ground, she wanders off, distracted by yet another smell.
In her bag, Leann can plainly see that the small black wand with the crystal tip is still glowing like a flickering torch, not with the furious radiance it had before. Finding this item within a lighthouse has some meaning now. It seems to have power aside from whatever function it served for Rob the Lighthouse keeper.
Damh, giving her a respectful distance curiously tries to see what she has found. He stands near the mace made torch in the old wall rack, absentmindedly running his fingers across the intricately detailed metalwork of Hadar's fascinating weapon as he looks on. "It seems things have taken a turn for the better on at least one front! What have you found?"
Leann has discovered that she has some type of Wand of Light. While it's full powers are yet to be determined, it appears to emit a constant, steady glow of magic light, 20 feet in diameter.
Ashissa recalls information from the book she found in the ruined library. There was mention of stones of magic light, but the context was rather vague until the Lighthouse was activated. The small stone in the silver chest, the giant crystal on the Tower and the red jewel, now melted to a lumpy crystal ball, are all sketched within the book, with notes in a language she does not recognize. Kat must have found the book among the crates. Perhaps the the townsfolk had avoided opening the rest until she could determine what the consequences might be.
The illustration of what seems to be the gem Baku recovered shows a mage casting a spell on it, then holding the gem as the spell is emitted from it. This must be a Spell Gem! The stone is dull and dim, and does not appear to hold any energy. It would be lucky if it's properties haven't been altered by the Radiant Blast.
Spell Gem - from what Ashissa has gathered, this gem may hold a spell to be used at a later time. The spell may be cast as a 10 minute Ritual to save a spell slot if necessary.
Baku's keen senses hone in on a particularly large lump of crusted sand toward the back corner of the broken stone support wall.
The night passes peacefully, the cool breeze warming as it crosses the Lighthouse's radiance. Bats and other night animals dart on the edges of the light feasting on insects without nervousness. The signs of life here are a fascinating surprise after the wretched trip through the wastes.
Ashissa is no longer exhausted. Sheet updated.

Twinly gaffaws and slaps Jimmer on the back, sending himself into a fit of coughing as the dust leaves his friend's clothing in a cloud.
Jimmer rolls his eyes and turns to Hadar - "There will be plenty of time for poking and prodding if we ever get out of here. Just find yerself a donkey that'll have ya!"
Jimmer motions for Twinly to help him and they lift one of the bars. "See those marks along the lid? At least we know the stone is strong enough to be lifted without breaking." The two men slam the rod into the gap beneath the lid and the foundation of the coffin, and with Hadar's immense strength at the other the other bar, the lid pops up, grating loudly and tipping to land heavily against the sandy ground with an immense thud. The ceiling holds, yet again.
Within the sarcophagus is a shriveled, brown form, unadorned with any jewels, trinkets or even clothing. This does not appear to be the body of a King! Hadar's investigative mindset is still honed in and he quickly notices that the mummy's shoulder sits at an awkward angle as if the stone is uneven there.
I added your custom item to your inventory with descriptions, BTW.
As Leann inspects the shiny, soft lump, it seems to flow with her touch as if hovering slightly before the energy of her fingertips rather than making contact with her skin. The formless mass spins itself into a delicate filigree in the palm of her hand, rising up into a swirling column of complex patterns before suddenly collapsing back to her palm. What remains is heavy golden chain topped with a heavy amulet. The large piece is in the shape of a Gauntlet, inlaid with weathered opal and red stones.
This apparently shape shifting item has now become a symbol of Leann's deity. It provides her an Advantage to Religion checks and a more direct connection to communicating with her deity...
I'm adding this to your sheet.
The wand doesn't yield her much more information than she already has. Its smooth obsidian shaft is about a foot in length, ending in a heavy quartz crystal. The crystal continues to glow with a soft brilliance.

Ashissa takes out the wriggling item from her backpack, directing it to the place it wants to go as she hands it to Baku while she exits the tower.

Later, Ashissa spends the quiet night sleeping comfortably knowing she'll be safe from the denizens of darkness.
Hadar looks up at Jimmer and grins, "There's a joke in there somewhere."
He beings to strategize and brings out a chain in case it's needed, "Let's works together to get these rods placed. I wanna see what's underneath this thing."

Leann takes a couple moments to look over the clay ball and then the wand.

** I've been adding custom items to your inventory with descriptions, BTW. None of this stuff is going to show up in the D&DB equipment lists. I'll use the homebrew creator if it will affect stats though.
