Fingolin, Tennanaz, Arell: For the meantime you resist the urge and temptations as to what lays awaiting your search of the fallen mages tower. You walk back out with what supplies you’ve found and continue on. You walk through what seems like a mile, though it’s hard to tell in the darkness and no visible marking system. You see a grated exit. It’s not locked. Stepping out the group rushes to the forest for protection from prying eyes overhead. Elyse steps you and says “Follow me, I’ve got to keep an eye on the path. Someone else look out for danders. Reginald, don’t you go busting your ass.”
Arell gives a grunt of agreement as Elyse starts leading the group into the forest. He had been able to rely on his sight in the past, so he felt confident he would be able to spot danger before it came close. With the magical broom resting over his shoulder he carefully steps in behind Elyse, casting his focus out as far as he can to ensure the group would not be surprised.
Fingolin walks next to Reginald, superficially flicking through the thick tome, to see what planes it mentions. He sometimes looks around him, but it's mostly just to get his bearings and avoid tripping.
Solomon mutters an incantation that draws the heat out of the air around the creature, causing frost to appear on its fur, hoping the discomfort would persuade it to seek a meal elsewhere.

Solomon/Fouder: As the bear rushes forward you release your attacks
Dex save: 17 Con Save: 4
The spells both strike true, but the bear only seems to be enraged. Cheering towards the one that caused it more damage it strikes out with its claws and teeth at Solomon.
Attack: 7 Damage: 11
Attack: 14 Damage: 13
The bear is unable to bite through the metal armor as it’s teeth slide off the rounded pauldrons. It goes to strike but Solomon puts his shield up in time and he’s only pushed backwards with no wounds. The bear gets itself ready to strike again as it positions itself to keep both of you in its sights.
Fingolin, Tennanaz, Arell: you pick up what you have found from the mages tower and continue on your path. Keeping an eye out for anything that lurks within the woods as Elyse meticulously following instructions as she mumbles them under her breath. Taking turns digging and zagging with no apparent rhyme or reason. Unintentionally making it very difficult to keep an eye out for things.
Both Arell and Elyse fall immediately as they didn’t see to muck of apparent quicksand. Dex save DC 10:
Elyse: 15
Arell:17
Elyse snaps out of it and Arell catches himself too as you both spread your arms out laterally to stop yourselves from sinking all the way over your head. Your both up to your chest, but can feel the pulls of the ground giving way underneath you. The two begin to sink slowly into the more. The brown surface layer of dirt giving way to the black ichor below as it clings to Elyse and Arell. Whom by the way skin begin to sting and burn.

Frustrated at the lack of impact his flame had, Fouder raises his battleaxe, gripping the handle with two hands, bringing it down towards the bears shoulder.
As the bear throws itself against Solomon's shield, he holds fast on the other side, listening to the gnashing and scraping of claws. Grabbing a dagger from his belt, he reaches round his shield and attempts to drive it into the beast's stomach.
Solomon trudges through as his dagger sinks deep into the ribs of the great bear. Fouder comes along behind it and lodges his axe between the shoulder blades. The bear slumps down as it life force is drained. Collapsing into the legs of Solomon. After a moment of struggle, Fouder helps free Solomon from the weight of the creature. Both sweaty and lightly panting but relieved to make it out without a scratch. You take a moment to catch your breath. A few moments later you hear another growl coming from the boughs and bushes. However, it’s isn’t fear that strikes your heart from the growl. It’s smaller, higher pitched as a small brown bear with amber honey highlights comes out.... calling for it’s mother.
Fouder's heart is heavy as he looks at the young orphaned bear. He hadn't wanted to kill it's mother, but she had left them with no choice after charging at them. Looking at the young bear, he supposes she was probably just trying to get some more food for the two of them.
His stomach loaded with guilt, Fouder takes a gentle step towards the bear. They can't just leave it here, by itself - it won't survive alone. Fouder knows he would not have survived his childhood on the streets if he had not had his brother by his side.
Cautiously, he drops the axe and turns his hands upwards, palms facing the creature, trying to navigate how he might show that they are not a threat. They don't really need another mouth to feed, but Fouder can't in good conscience just leave the juvenile here to perish.
He looks deep within so he may guide his actions with what divine power remains (Guidance).
Arell stretches out an arm to Elyse to grab her by the forearm, then holds up his other hand to catch the rope, gritting his teeth as he notices the liquid start to burn his skin. "Quick, please!"
The group begins to pull out the two in the quicksand as the black spot and mud coat their clothing and armor. A caustic aroma fills everyone’s nostrils as the begin to work.
DC - 15 Strength check for Elyse and Arell:
Elyse - 10

Arell is able to pull himself up to the edge, rolling out of the muck, though completely caked in mud. Elyse is unable to pull up as the rope and Arell’s arm slips out of her reach. She begins to yell as the ooze brings her underneath the surface, her screams muffled by the thick tar like substance. A moment of worry comes across the group as they look to the ground. But suddenly...
The mud begins to rise from below the surface as a large amorphous blob begins to rise out of the ground. Sleeping through the roots as the acidic black entity slurps about menacingly. You see the face of Elyse being dragged underneath the surface as she is swirled inside.
Initiaive: group averages 16.something so ooze goes first.
Fouder - the bear slowly nudges at its mother with his snout for a moment trying to wake it’s mother. The bear looks to you as you’ve made it clear you are not a threat to it. The little bear grunts to you before judging it’s deceased mother. Generally confused at the situation. But it does seem to be open to suggestion.
