“As ordered, Captain Zodge,” replies Gerrard, taking one more glance around the scene then heading off to the Elfsong tavern.
Gerrard seems nonplussed by the gold, but also accustomed to working within the chain of command. Something in his eyes suggests that he might, however, have a personal stake in investigating the forces of evil.

Sir Qelroth finds his Page, the budding halfling Priestess of Torm Serrah Lightfoot. She was volun-told to join Qelroth on this venture by her head of temple. Apparently, her abundant jabbering was too much for the old priest. Qelroth is glad to have her along, even with her many words. She is always optimistic and spreads the word of Torm at every opportunity. She even has Qelroth adding Torm to his prayer list. Serrah had just procured a domicile for their stay here in Baldurs gate. The taverns are all seedy places, unfit for the young charges in Qelroth's retinue. Kyrian, his squire, was nowhere to be found. Probably off cuasing some sort of mischief, but at least he had already taken care of the horses and supplies. The young kobold Kreg was right by Serrah's side as usual. A quiet creature except for when he was groveling or begging for mercy at inappropriate times. Qelroth had caught him trying to steal money from the altar of Bahamuut. He spared him punishment and the kobold latched on to him as his servant. So far he has proven ultra loyal and seems to be adept at coming up with tidbits of information, which he usually provides in the form of a note written on a scrap of paper. He speaks well when he chooses to.
Sir Qelroth gives them the warning and further instructions for the evening. Letting them know he may be late depending on how things go at the Elfsong. He tells Serrah to have Kyrian read from the Chronicles of Illian and perform 300 cycles of the sword and to stay with her and Kreg at all times.
Luckily, the place they are renting is just a few blocks from the tavern. On the way there, he stops to give a poor wretch some silver coins for a meal and aids a merchant that almost crushed himself trying to load a delivery into his wagon. All in all, Qelroth was in good spirits, even though the quest he is on has him working with a group with questionable ethics (the Flaming Fist). The broader goal to eliminate evil from the streets is worth the sacrifice of dealing with these mercenaries. His new companions seem to be well trained and thoughtful and he looks forward to working with them
Alkaios listened intently to the capatin's remarks. For him the situation was pretty obvious, this cult of evil had to be destroyed. The money the captain offered was a welcome incentive, but not the reason the ranger felt compelled to accept this mission. A cult full of murderous lunatics just couldn't be allowed to exist in his conception of the world. "We'll meet again soon, Captain.", he gave his superior a curt nod and then followed Eleonora und Gerrard as they strolled towards the Elfsong Tavern. "Any guesses who those dangerous friends of our informant might be? I despise suprises, especially the ones that could get me killed.", Alkaios said adressing his companions nonchalantly.
As they make their way to the Elfsong tavern, Gerrard attempts to answer Alkaios' question, "While I do not know for sure about this 'Tarina', I have heard that figure of speech before. 'Powerful Friends' usually means that a person is either well-connected politically or to a group of unusually puissant adventurers." Thinking a moment, he adds, "and either one of those can indeed get you killed--very quickly."

Kerric Brightblade - Elven Warrior in "Apocalypse"
The walk to the Elfsong tavern is not long. It stands at the intersection of several streets and as you enter a weird eerie sing song voice sings. The patrons are silent, listening.
Almost as a dream the songs stops and the clamor starts again.
A lean half elf stands behind the bar, pouring drinks and two young men serve them, joking and talking good naturedly to the clients.
On each side of the entrance are bouncers. One is a mean looking half ogress and the other appears to be an empty armor just standing there.
Well-armed patrons huddle around tables in the main room and in private booths. Three padded chairs are angled toward a fireplace on the east wall, underneath the creaky wooden staircase that climbs to the second floor. Some drunk is passed out on the couch against the north wall.
The Captain gives you al a shrewd look. You can almost visualize the machines working in his mind.
"Baldur's Gate has long been plagued by followers of the Dead Three-the gods Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul. I thought we had wiped them out, but apparently not. These purveyors of fear and death are taking advantage of the current crisis to commit murder sprees throughout the city. As my appointed deputies in this matter, you'll have license to kill these wretches on sight. Find their lair, and wipe it out. Eliminate anyone who gets in your way, and don't worry about collateral damage. If you do what I say, I'll see that you each receive two hundred gold pieces in addition to my gratitude, which is worth considerably more. A few blocks from the Basilisk Gate is Elfsong Tavern. A spy named Tarina hangs out there, gathering rumors for the Guild. She owes me a favor, so tell her you work for me. Ask her what she knows about the Dead Three. And, for the love of all the gods, be nice. Tarina has dangerous friends."
Thinking to herself...
Eliminate anyone who gets in your way, and don't worry about collateral damage?
"Try not to be too long." She says to Qelroth as they depart from the captain. "If this spy has such dangerous friends, we'll want to make sure we're well prepared to deal with her as well as the cult."
Shaking her head internal...Kutosha hangs back to speak with the Captain, as her companions begin to leave.
She says, "Captain, allow me to get straight to the point, my companions seem very eager for our journey to begin. Is this favor or debt understood by both parties?" Continuing, "I would hate for there to be confusion on her end, for my crew to embrace their eagerness fully, and her friends then impeding our path."
Tacking on, "Not worrying about collateral damage could then create yet another spoke on the war wheel. So, if there is anything else you can share to help ease our path, please let me know."
If warranted, here is a persuasion check for the Captain = 10
Given her background, loose affiliation with the Guild, and being from Baldur's Gate, I'd like to make the following knowledge checks:
History check to see what she knows of and possible locations of Followers of the Dead Three-the gods: Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul = 2
Religion check to see what she knows of and possible locations of Followers of the Dead Three-the gods: Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul = 8
Insight check to see what she knows of Tarina the Spy already = 8
Please let me know if those categories aren't correct for these types of checks (esp the last one). Thanks! (ugh)
"No worries, she knows that despite her "friends" she better respect our deals. I just want this to be dealt with and if you need to break heads try not to antagonise powerful groups like her "friends"."
For Kutosha
The Guild as it is called in Baldur's Gate rules the night and the information business. They have a deal going with the Flaming Fist but the two groups do clash from time to time. The Captain contact is probably affiliated to the Guild.
Qelroth arrives in time to see the others enter the tavern. He straightens his surcoat, pretends to look in a mirror and comb his hair and puts on a draconic smile before entering himself. He is alert for dangers and tries to quickly assess the patrons and the types of weapons they are armed with.
Perception: 4
His shield on his back, his morning star tucked into his belt and his longsword hanging from a shoulder harness/ baldric at his left side. He would be an imposing figure if it were not for the awkward thing that passes for a smile on a dragon born.
Gerrard walks into the tavern with the others and listens to the song of the elves, trying to make out the words as they slip past. All too soon the song is over, and the responsibility of his task once more takes precedence.
"Barkeep, might I inquire as to the whereabouts of Tarina?" asks Gerrard as he strides easily up to the bar. "I'd also like a nice amber ale if you have one," he adds.

Alkaios loved music and the few moments he was able to catch of the sweet ghostly voice, made the day all the more enjoyable. With the exception of the song singing spectre, at first glance this tavern just looked and felt like every other tavern he had frequented in his life. Granted, most of the patrons were equipped like they were about to go to war, but the young ranger thought nothing of it, given the agitated mood inside the city, sparked by the sudden destruction of Elturel. Calmly, Alkaios walked beside Gerrard towards the counter and occupied one of the free barstools there. He signaled the half-elven barkeep that he was taking the same drink his companion had ordered, and then for a brief moment enjoyed the atmosphere of this fine establishment. All the while hoping that they would find the informant quickly. It almost seemed like the turmoil in Baldur's Gate made himself grow more restless by the minute.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
She quietly agrees with Gerrard's assessment of who 'powerful' friends might be only adding, "Not to mention the prevalent gang activity in this city."
She otherwise silently follows them to the tavern, usually trailing toward the back and watching the passersby as they go. Once in they're in the tavern, she hangs back some, scanning the room for anyone who might be watching them too closely, or who looks like they might be about to cause trouble. She nods to Qelroth as he joins them.

"All will become equal now" | "Cause we're going to shout it loud, even if our words seem meaningless. It's like we're carrying the weight of the world"
As you enter the Tavern there is a slight lull in the conversation.
The Half elf smiles when Gerrard asks about Tarina. "You want to loose some money ? She seems to be in one of those moods today." He points upstairs. " She's running a game of Bladur's Bones in one of the private rooms."
He makes a gesture toward one of the servers. " I ll tell her you want to see her. In the meanwhile take a seat and I ll get you your beverages."
"Well, that went easy enough.", Alkaios said to the others by the bar. He was not overly accustomed to things going all to smoothly for him, but this had at least the potential to turn out nicely for once. "If this goes well, we will maybe find some time for a little game of dice ourselves.", Truth be told, Alkaios was a gambling enthusiast and hardly could pass up on such an opportunity.
As if he noticed the Gensai traveling with them for the first time after he began speaking about gambling, Alkaios quickly turned towards his companion saying, "Music to my ears, friend. Maybe Tarina could get us involed in her game. Well, after she gave us the information at least. A little R&R never hurt anyone before venturing out to destroy an evil cult." He smirked and took a gulp from the ale that just had been served to him.
It takes a few minutes for Tarina to get from the second floor and you can see a dark haired beauty marred by a stern and pinched almost contrite look.
Kutosha had been disappointed in the Captain...in general, but mostly for his answer. This left her trying to dredge her memory for references of the cults and their followers, but it was of no real use. She could recall only general information, probably picked up in a book or pamphlet somewhere. Perhaps, today's events had been more distracting than she realized, she mused.
Brushing it off, she had taken a shortcut to the tavern, as she didn't want to be stopped by acquaintances along the main route. Plus, they were a headstrong bunch and she really didn't want things to go sideways.
Kuto decided to enter through the back kitchen entrance. Hopefully, there was someone to help her gauge Tarina before their meeting.
As she approached, she nodded to one of the bussers taking a smoke break and noticed a familiar marking on his forearm. The nod turned into a greeting for someone of his station and allegiance.
Quietly asking, "A few coins for info? Could turn into a small favor, if it's quality. You up for it or is there someone else inside I should ask?"
Gerrard:
