Hey, I was away this weekend, but I'm back now so should be getting back to properly posting tomorrow.
My plan was playing a free spirited sorcerer whom wants to be optimistic at all times, despite the world being cataclysmic and with devil-worshipping cults basically ruling as tyrant overlords.
Will post again in a bit, hope to RP with you soon!
Is there anything specific you would like us to be working on right now? As far as backstory, my character will already be traveling with his brother. Do you want us to try to intertwine our background with multiple characters? We could discuss ways in which to bring everyone together prior to the beginning of the game. Alternatively, should we expect something in game to bring about the formation of our party?
I just wanted to reach out and see if you had any further input on how you would like us to go about this.
So my plan for Tenra is that she's has started a journey of self-discovery, an easy path for joining up with people. Is there someone who wouldn't mind an energetic halfling being their travelling buddy?
My character is good with an energetic halfling. As long as the halfling doesn't mind a hobgoblin fighter studying to be a war mage.
Sounds good. She's got a knack for some arcane bits and bobs (sorcerer), but doesn't have a real control over it like a wizard would. Sounds like a dangerous duo to wander around.
Nabhitha has most likely recently reached whatever city that we start our campaign in so she's spent whatever time she's had there in a lower standard of housing (Poor not Squalor, mechanically) as she scouts out various areas and individuals. The most likely character she'd come in with, then, is someone who's already been in that city and would be a regular sight out and about or one who's had to stay in similar boarding conditions.
Esedus is a paladin in service to a god/chapter/order (depending upon what fits for the setting) primarily in a city but travels in his duties. He is very lawful and disciplined, but can be reckless in combat with his own life. He's working up to swearing an oath as an order of the crown paladin, if that helps. He is independant in following his duties, which revolve around maintaining law and justice, violently if necessary, and with conviction enough to disregard judges or courts.
Happy to team up with anyone to start with, whether a natural fit or not - I'm sure we can make it work!
I wouldn't be surprised if Esedus finds himself in and around Nabhitha's lodgings fairly regularly if he's the type to investigate criminal activity on the city's behest, with their express permission or otherwise.
Zanilin is a changeling warlock who has little to nothing to his name. If Nabhitha is around the poor district it wouldn't be a stretch for them to cross paths.
As Ahkota stated, Callum and Korvin are brothers and have been traveling together. Before, or perhaps during, our reunion I was employed to a caravan guard known as the Blue Gryphons. Moving between cities and working as support for different caravans would put me in a position to have met a good number of individuals, so a connection from the Lamorre's to anyone else shouldn't be too much of a stretch.
As a matter of fact, I seem to recall Esedus has been around that area quite a bit recently, searching for information on a series of grisly murders that were strange enough for a paladin to be called in. Nabhitha and Zanilin could have been drawn in for different reasons?
Esedus is more suited to smiting the bad guys than investigating, so he would probably have needed some help.
Sorry for the inactivity. I’ve recently started planning for a campaign for my home group set in the Twin Continents, and have spent some time revising the setting, barely leaving me any time to post. On the flip side, this means that I can be lazy efficient, and reuse material I make for one campaign for the other. So, I would like to present the revised Twin Continents timeline:
518: The Vax’Ari Sovereignty is founded.
556: The sun elves and eladrin return from their self-imposed exile in the Feywild, reuniting with the wood elves and moon elves to found Celuandril.
602: The dwarves of Elendria march eastwards, beginning the massive War of Reclamation to reclaim their ancestral home of Irencrag from the forces that conquered it.
653: The first Orcmarch War begins, with orcs spilling out of the northern mountains. The three kingdoms and the tribes of the Syeorin Wildlands unite to stop them, successfully repelling the invasion.
678: Blood mages from the Garunian Empire found Vaasia in northeast Elendria.
745: The thirteenth Vax’Ari Sovereign, Murgan Vax’Ari, declares war on the other nations of the Twin Continents. He is stopped by a coup led by his nephew, Mardran Vax’Ari.
831: Scattered city-states in Vriorys’ north unite into the Garuar, or Golden Marches.
962: In the event known as the Fire in the Sky, much of the Garunian Empire’s eastern territory is seized by a conclave of dragons of all colours, creating the nation of Asgaroth.
1095: The third Orcmarch War is waged. One orc chieftain, Garann Sword-Fang, surrenders peacefully, and his tribe founds the city of Gharanas, which soon joins the Garuar.
1137: The Dwynarian Compact is signed, and many western cities of the Vax’Ari Sovereignty secede, creating the Dwynarian Coalition. The much-diminished Sovereignty gives more power to its minor nobles.
1140: The Vax’Ari Domains is all but dissolved, with only the lands near the capital Dawngard remaining under the Sovereign’s control, though many of the cities that subsequently joined the Garuar or the Dwynarian Coalition still respect the authority of the Sovereign.
1181: The people of Alhara return from parts unknown, and following the brief Alhara-Asgaroth War, claim some territory on Elendria.
1250: On the Night of Reunion, the gods fall silent for twelve hours, during which the continents of Elendria and Vriorys drift together and merge, creating the Interior Sea and the Grand Dale. The cities of the Dwynarian Coalition are rearranged around the sea, and the desert of Alhara is shifted to the south of the sea.
1304: The giants of Ostoria reignite their millenia-old feud with the dragons, declaring war on Asgaroth. The Garunian Empire supports both sides, attempting to profit from the war.
1404: Ostoria and Asgaroth sign the Concord of Annam and Bahamut, ending their hostilities. Sea elf communities begin establishing in the Interior Sea.
1484: The Underchasm opens nearly overnight. The drow enclave of Lurethen is founded on the surface, acting as a bridge between the Underdark and the surface world.
1437: After an internal disagreement, Alhara splits into two nations: Alhara, which retains the spirit of artifice and invention from the old Alhara, and Shade, a magocracy ruled by the priesthood of the gods of darkness.
1460: After decades of peace, the disgraced Clan Duergar allies with orcs for the fourth Orcmarch War. The Vax’Ari almost single-handedly repel the invasion, regaining some of their old territory in the process.
1473: Dissidents from Shade, lead by their “God-King” Elinal, break off from the magocracy and found the nation of Elinal in the God-King’s honour.
1500: The elves reestablish Myth Thalissar, the City of Souls, as a city to be welcoming for all races. Magical wards are erected around the city, preventing evil humanoids from entering, while magically empowering those who are pure of heart.
1534: The current year.
A note:
If some of the names or events seem familiar, I’ve drawn some inspiration from the Forgotten Realms. Prime examples being the Underchasm and the myth-prefix before the city’s name, as well as high elves being divided into sun elves and moon elves.
Next up, sometime tomorrow or Tuesday, will be a gazetteer of locations, as well as potentially a map.
I don't think it'd be a far stretch to say that Zanilin and Nabhitha shared a room above some other business - most likely a seedy bar or odds & ends store or something to that effect. If Esedus came around investigating, I think it'd be interesting to have him pointed Nabhitha's way out of the hope that she'll either get caught on something or at least keep the Paladin's attention away from other, less major infractions. Nabhitha talking Esedus into genuinely hiring our her and Zanilin's services as a pair of "investigators" - mundane and magical - sounds like a fun way to be tied to one another. Zanilin probably gets dragged into it by the seat of their pants so that Nabhitha can charge a better fee for the combined "expertise".
If it's not something that Zanilin would disclose to an acquaintance, then I would say Nabhitha's best guess is that they're not necessarily "normal", but I can't imagine she'd know for sure without actually investigating the matter or digging a bit deeper.
So did we find the murderer? I know we ended up needing both of your skills, as there was some dark magic involved that Zanilin was more knowledgeable about than Esedus was truly comfortable with.
It's possible, but I think it may be more interesting if we tried to follow through on some leads the three of us managed to find but had the matter taken off of our hands from either the city at large or a specific sect (mages of some description, perhaps).
Those meddling mages of some description have no concept of true justice! No doubt they will engage in their usual cover-up for their own purposes, again leaving the rest of the city worse off!
Well, at least I found two semi-trustworthy helpers (as long as the pay is right, anyway) to assist me in future endeavours. Although, I sense darkness in Zanilin that would make me keep him at arm's length. It reminds me too much of...something better kept locked away.

Thanks,
I’d like it if everyone is with at least one other character prior to the campaign, whether they just ran into each other, or are childhood friends.

That (points above) I like that. Do you think Nabhitha would know Zanilin is a changeling?

If it comes up I want to Ms. Doubtfire that situation.
Haha sounds good!
