You continue down the path, more rooms of madness and illogical situations pass by. Eventually you come to...
Water falls away into nothing, drawn towards an absence of being, The light begins to fade, gathering around a gigantic beacon of darkness in the near distance. A mirror, reflecting entropy, nothingness and madness into the world. An amber mirror dotted with 13 incomprehensible names. The Heart of the City, where all things must end.
The 13 strange symbols on the mirror have 9 of them cracked, the other 4 are looking strange and worn. It appears that whatever darkness is held in that mirror is ready to break free as soon as those last 4 symbols are destroyed.
There’s something in the mirror. It’s pitch black and vast, like the darkness of a night’s sky devoid of stars. To look directly at it is to invite the realization of your own powerlessness against whatever mad whimsy it might pursue, unheeding of your presence. Cold, dark, unfeeling apathy towards you and everyone who came before you. This is what the mirror holds....what it could unleash.
Al-Ashari recieves the following vision, as she is the holder of the fetching mirror...
A shining city floats on clouds under a bright sky. Angels float through the sky singing hymns. The city is Elysium, but not as you know it. A shadow falls over the city, and your view turns to the heavens, where stars show the constellations of Elysium’s youth. Widow, Bull, Badger...all thirteen swirl in a deadly corona to defend the city from the darkness. Then, one constellation, the smallest, flees. A Spider. The other stars fade, one by one. Elysium shatters.
Something is descending on you from above. Spectral legs weave a gossamer thread of ethereal silk, and many faces smile and scream together as a flickering purple spider manifests on top of the mirror.
“My little bluebottles”, whispers Groblets - the spider, in a sinister voice. “I see you know the truth. It is a dangerous thing, the truth. What do you propose to do with it?”
A voice, calm and pure, echoes through the water. The spectral form of a young girl with a serious expression is flickering in the distance. She smiles.
You have come so far. You cannot falter. I will not abandon you, as you did not abandon me. Take heart, and fight.
Cecilia’s spirit is powerful, and wroth. When it appears, the adventurers: • Gain Inspiration. • Remove their madness levels and any Indefinite Madness flaws they possess. • Are freed from any Charmed or Frightened conditions, and any curses they are afflicted by. • Gain a number of hit points equal to their character level.
"She knows..." The spider says, it's many eyes moving to Al-Ashari. "I did nothing, that is the reason for the city's fall."
The spider does not seem about to do anything hostile, he seems more curious as to what you will do with the information. The mirror starts to emit wisps of darkness though, causing the spider to glance to it with clear concern.
Let us go ahead and roll initiative as this is going to move fairly quickly once it gets going.
"What can we be doin' with it? Can we be fixin' things with the truth? It be a powerful thing, the truth. If you do somethin' now, can the city be restored? Can you be helpin' us, or at least be standin' aside? I'd be preferrin' the help, though, n' that be the simple truth, me fren'." Merric says.

"I'd assume you wanted to live to see another day. But is the day really worth seeing, when your home looks like this now? No one can live here happily. Even the things that create misery live in it now. And this mirror is the cause of all this madness?"
(If the mirror is "small" enough that Kale can block its surface with a Wall of Force, he will so that we can keep talking to the spider a little longer before a battle starts up. The wall can cover at maximum a flat surface of ten 10 ft x10 ft panels, or a 30x30ft square with one 10x10 panel extra, or basically, some permutation of 1000 square feet. If the mirror is bigger than the spell's surface area, he won't attempt to cast the spell, but instead ready an action to cast hypnotic pattern if a hostile creature emerges from the mirror while we're chatting away.)
Whitegaze looks around at the others, "I'm really just good at hitting things, hard and often until they go away. I'm not really sure what we can do about a magic mirror monster they some strange star creatures couldn't stop, but I'm willing to try. What are we going to do?"

Merric waited for moment when the spider's many eyes were trained elsewhere then moved on swift, silent feet into position to make a sneak attack on whatever might come out of the mirror, his weapons at the ready. If, instead, the Spider should become hostile, well, his blades would do for it, too.
ooc: move to put himself into position to attack.
Bonus action: Hide (Stealth: 34)
Ready action: Dual Attack on whatever comes out of the mirror. If more than one thing, the biggest thing. If the spider attacks, Merric will use his readied action on it. Wicked Blade: Attack with Green Flame Blade: 28 Damage: 70 Rapier of Warning: Attack: 27 Damage: 39
Green Flame Blade will do 3d8+1 damage to a second target within 5', if there is one Merric can see.

a readied action can only do one attack. It is a single attack that uses your reaction.
Merric moves closer to the mirror and spider, then hides. He readies to strike which ever proves hostile first.
mirror (init 20) A wave of extraplanar terror radiates from the crack in the mirror. Characters within sight of the mirror must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw [DC 21] or be come Frightened of the mirror until their next turn.

OOC: You’re the DM so you’re ruling controls and so go with the first attack but I just re-read the rules for Ready and it doesn’t talk about attacks. It says the character can use his reaction to “...act using your reaction before the start of your next turn.” That does not seem to limit the character to a single attack. There may be something in Reaction about it but I couldn’t find that on my phone.

Al-Ashari shares her vision, though, too late it seems, as something is already attacking? She tries to get out of the way of that creature.

Merric, you can use your readied action to attack one of the tentacles. Which would you like to attack? Which ever it is you destroy it.
