Irena chuckled. "Itchy feet! I love home, but I want to see more of Faerun as well. Shadowdale's almost like a retirement home for powerful adventurers so I used to hear all sorts of tales as I was growing up, so I've always wanted to see the places in the stories."
Debolsia makes sure to keep an eye out for that wagon and the travelers that were riding in it. She knew the roads could be dangerous with bandits and beasts so she tried to keep a good watch. She knew how Irena felt with her need to explore.
"I just felt I couldn't learn all I wanted if I stayed at home. The best way to study people is to actually go and see how they live. It's all just so fascinating and staying in one place for too long gets dull after a while."
Vinras would listen to those speaking with a pleasant smile, “I’ve travelled a fair bit at least between Summit Hill and Waterdeep when I was traveling with Sir Varcan Crestspire, helping those in need and protecting the innocent.” He looks about the road once more keeping an eye out for the Half-Elf and his group. “Can’t say I’ve been to the Shadowdales. Though or to far out of the Northern areas, honestly.”
As the group continues their journey on the high road, you come to a cluster of boulders that lie tumbled to the sides of the road. A fellow traveller has come to a halt and is inspecting his horses’ hoof. He shouts and waves as he sees your wagon approach.
”Ho there! Can any of you help? My horse has pulled up lame!”

Vinras raises an eyebrow looking at the traveler and horse, “Doesn’t seem fishy at all...”. He looks about the area to see if anything seems out of place.

Seeing that the rest of the crew is addressing the person, Nicola hops off and looks around. She's done enough caravan jobs on the Sword Coast to be suspicious.
"Gods give me wisdom," Nicola prays, casting Guidance on herself. She then tenses up and looks around to see if anything seems out of place, any odd movements from the boulders or other terrain on the sides of the road.
Nicola gives the place a once-over, shrugs, then figures no reason not to trust the man, some people just smile a bunch. She walks over and starts guilelessly chatting.
"Ooh, that's unfortunate, on the farms by where I grew up we had that all the time, folks don't have the silver to pay the farrier one month, next you know the plow horse steps on a rock and she's injured for a week, then the whole growing season's off, I tell you, it's expensive to be poor. Hmm..." She kneels down by the horse's leg, curious.
"May I?"
Assuming nothing interrupts her chatter and the man lets her look at the hoof, she investigates to see if there's an obvious sign of injury.
Amshoon and Nicola approach the horse and take a look at it. The horse’s hoof seems to be completely fine- which is when you hear the click of a crossbow being cocked behind you.
“Alright my fine fellows, weapons on the ground and hands in the air.”
Emerging as if from nowhere, three more figures appear from the rocks and begin moving toward the cart. They are armed with crossbows and scimitars, and the leader is a blond half elf.
”Well done Daxter!” He yells to the man holding a bow on Amshoon and Nicola. “If either one twitches, shoot them.”
He turns to shout to the cart. “Step out of the wagon, SLOWLY. You don’t want any misunderstandings. Throw down your weapons and sit down thirty feet back that way, hands on your head.” Gesturing in the direction you came.
He gives a shark-like grin before continuing. “Some of you will probably be thinking about getting heroic! That works real well in the stories, but in real life it just ends up getting... messy”.
Debolsia surveys the scene. "Looks like you're outnumbered friend. Now, I'll give you the chance to end this peacefully, but know that my traveling companions are a bit bloodthirsty for action. Do you wish to go about your life or is this where your days end?"Debolsia seems to be kind in her tone and she shows no sign of threat even dropping her quarterstaff to show she's unarmed.
Vinras would hop out longsword and shield in hand, “I knew something didn’t feel right about this...” he looks to the bandits and nods to Debolsia, “Aye I would agree with her, this caravan is heavily guarded. You seemed to have picked the wrong group of travelers to mess with. Lay down your arms or you will meet the blade of Tyr and justice will be dealt.”
As the tense situation breaks into open combat, Nicola spends her first action focused on dodging attacks as (hopefully) her comrades engage the shooters trained on her & Amshoon.
(Dodge action, Until the start of your next turn, any Attack roll made against you has disadvantage if you can see the attacker)
Vinras would take a battle stance and ready himself, saying a quick prayer to Tyr and slams the hilt of sword against his shield, “So then it is justice from the blade of Tyr then!”

The man smiles and motions you closer.
“So good of you to help. I think she’s picked up a stone bruise on the road. Come and see!”
The man seems to be alone except for the horse as far as you all can tell, and all seems quiet.
