The gnome inside the cube struggles to get out. More sores appear as his clothes and skin being to dissolve. The weapon and armor he is wearing seem to corrode further, beyond repair. If he's not rescued soon, it will mean his death.

Dex Save DC 15: -1
Belwar's bonfire is visible through the sides of the ooze as it forms underneath. The flames lick up around the base and begin melting away the already damaged creature. It dissolves into a puddle which is immediately turned into a smokey toxic cloud that flutters to the cavern ceiling. Eldeth and Jimjar pull the gnome to safety. Valrish is left coughing and sputtering, rolling to the side to avoid the flames, but he gets a big lungful of the smoke.
There is silence at first, and then a cheer rises up from the crowd and the vendors as they celebrate the victory with you. Several gnomes approach to shake your hands, and give you accolades. It would seem you've made a good impression, and now people who would barely look at you the day before, are very happy to have you around.
A gnome dressed in fine clothing with a handlebar mustache approaches Grimnir and hands him 12 gold pieces and a shortsword. "Spoils of war go to the victors, my friends. You have earned it. These fell out of the one you slew first. It's not much, but it's yours! My name is Kazook Pickshine, and if you ever need anything, I am at your service. These ooze incursions have been happening more frequently. They seem drawn here lately. Always making for the Northwest area of town, which was abandoned long ago. Looks like Mev will be fine this time, which is more than I can say for the poor souls who died before. You have our thanks. Now. Where are you off to? And how I can be helping you?"
"You are most welcome, always happy to help those in need. Keep the gold and the sword and give it to this poor soul, he will need some money to buy himself some new clothes and maybe a drum a whiskey !"
After a few second, Grimnir stops and continues: " Ahh ! Mister Kazook... I was looking for you actually ! We met some of your friends, from the Society of something. They told us you could maybe help us, we are looking for a way to reach the surface. Any help would be much appreciated !"
"You are welcome Kazook, the Four Furious Fighting Fools will always be there against the evil. If you are indeed of the Society of Brilliance you must be quite knowledgeable. What are those standing stones?"

"Ah, you met someone from the Society of Brilliance, I take it? Fine folk, those. They ask a lot of questions, and being the foremost purveyor of gems and stones in the area, I have a lot of answers! Had a couple come through recently. An orog fellow and a troglodyte if I recall. Odd pair, but very courteous. Happy to hear they sent you my way."He ponders a moment, lost in a thought, but quickly recovers. "Yes, so you're looking for a way to the surface. Not may easily trafficked places, but I know a few. But I'd be overstepping my bounds if I just came out with the directions. Business to attend to and all. Why don't you assist some of these folks in town, and then look me up later. I should have the maps and everything ready by then."
"You are welcome Kazook, the Four Furious Fighting Fools will always be there against the evil. If you are indeed of the Society of Brilliance you must be quite knowledgeable. What are those standing stones?"
"You must mean the Speaking Stones. Aye, those have been there since before anyone can remember. Long before Blingdenstone existed. The Stoneheart Enclave's more religious members believe it is a place of great significance. Their members often cast diving spells in the area looking for answers to questions both small and large. You should speak to the head priest, Gurnik Tapfinger, if you want to know more. He's probably near the speaking stones, especially after this mess..."

"This is exciting, we are getting close to the surface...finally !"
You decide it's best not to split up, thank Kazook, and head to the Speaking Stones (Area 13).
The speaking stones are not far, and you arrive quickly. The stones are large hunched obelisks all leaning in towards each other in a circle. There are a number of gnomes in robes bowing, and performing prayers and rituals among the stones. Some you see casting dice, while others poor water at the base of the stones. In the center of the stones you see someone who fits the description of Gurnik Tapfinger that Kazook described. An elderly gnome in flowing robes of earthen colors. He is talking to a rather striking female half-orc, who looks out of place among the gnomes. You happen upon them as the gnome is explaining something very earnestly to the half-orc. "You see, it's sort of sentient cloud, and it causes elementals to go a little crazy. It's been around forever, so we mostly just avoid it, I was hop..."He stops as he notices the rest of you approaching. "Ah, hello there, can I help you?"
"I greet you, Gurnik Tapfinger. I am Oorr of the fabled Aarakocra from the Star Mounts, and these are my companions. We are strangers in your home, but we only want to help. Please, do continue. We heard you have a lot of problems in the city and want to know more."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grimnir stays close to Oorr and with a brief wave from his hand adds " Greetings, I'm Grimnir". Letting Oorr do the talking, Grimnir will focus on his spores and try to get a feel from this place ( 4 if Nature -1 / Survival +5)
Since her vision of the underdark, Brox was finally getting close to hunt down the evil that she saw and that hadn't left her for the last few weeks of her travels.
Now Brox is trying really hard to understand every word. She only has eyes for Gurnik's mouth and even though he is speaking a little fast, Brox understands everything. It takes her a second to realise when he stops mid sentence and turns to welcome newcomers. She turns too and observes the odd travellers that just arrived.
Brox, you see this curious group of travelers, as out of place to you in this deep gnome city as you seem to them, except for the one deep gnome that seems to be constantly preoccupied with something.
Gurnik continues, "Ah! Yes, you must be the outlanders I heard about. Tappy tends to gossip, you know. You are indeed correct, friend Oorr, Blingdenstone has its share of troubles, though the Diggermattocks do a well enough job of keeping things at bay as we make progress. Why, you all might be just what we need to push forward. I was just telling Brox here about Ogrémoch’s Bane which is currently hovering over the Rockblight. If I'm not mistaken, you had announced you were going to help fight off some creatures there. I must warn you, the bane has caused many an elemental to go mad. But I think I know what is needed." He stops to ponder a moment, then turns back to Brox, and remembering his manners, talks just a tad slower. "You know, Brox, I admire your offer of help, but I must say you shouldn't go alone. You mentioned the oozes, and that's just one more problem. Perhaps these fellows might be willing to allow you to accompany them. The more people we have fighting for Blingdenstone, the better, I say." He starts shifting his gaze back and forth from Brox to the Four Furious Fighting Fools, and raises his eyebrows slightly in anticipation.
Grimnir doesn’t feel any interesting vibes from his spores, but he could feel a connection with Nature emanating from this strange half-orc.
"Greetings mighty warrior, it is nice to meet someone from the surface! Is Gurnik right ? Do you require help, we are pretty tough adventurers" and after a bit of hesitation... "Care for a mushroom ?" Grimnir is offering a Barrelstack, a nice mushroom that he found could be used as a snack.
