Jumping from the rope, Marion goes over to Shadow. "You okay? I thought cats kill rats, not the other way round," she says and giggles. Her face flushes with red while she combats the urge to pet him. "I should get myself a cat familiar. Everything's better with cats."
Staring down the ledge she sighs with relief. "At least we've got stairs now."
"These are so big!" exclaims Torment, examining the now deceased rats. "I wonder what they eat. I mean there can't be much down here except for bugs or the occasional explorer or... nope, never mind. I don't need to know what they eat."
She turns to look down the stairs, watching for any more signs of movement so as not to be caught off guard again."Shall we continue?"
Elemoth looks at his now blood and fur-stained mace with disgust, and walks over to an area with plenty of sand, and stoops over to wipe the gore off of it into the sand as best as he can. He also pulls out a small piece of scrap cloth and uses it to clean his face and hands, wipe off a bit of his armor and gear, and then simply throws the cloth into the pile of sand when he's finished, sighing softly.
Still not completely clean, but apparently "clean enough" he walks over to where everyone else is and agrees with Torment. "Yes, I think we've seen as much as we can of this area. Continuing would be best, I agree. However, based on what happened last time, I'm a bit loathe to be the first in line. Not unless Torment is ready and able to heal me." he states, giving the bard a nod.
You all continue down the steps. As you look down at the edges of your darkvision (sorry Marion) you see that a fortress emerges from the darkness. The subterranean citadel, though impressive, seems long forgotten, if the lightless windows, cracked crenellations, and leaning towers are any indication. All is quiet, though a cold breeze blows up from below, bringing with it the scent of dust and a faint trace of rot.
Simply affirm (either on the discord or here that you are ready to continue) otherwise I'll post an update of some kind soon.
(ooc: just pretend this is before we moved on lol)
"You okay? I thought cats kill rats, not the other way round," Shadow laughs at the irony of the situation."I'll have to be more careful from now on."
"I'm okay everyone, I am glad to see that everyone is worried. But hey I've got eight more live to go!"Shadow smiles a little but it quickly fades as he realizes he very well could of died for being so careless. He then goes and kneel in front of Elemoth. "Elemoth, without your help I would be among the corpses of the rats. I am forever indebted to you. I pledge my self to you, and will do anything in my powere to protect in the heat of power." Tears roll down his eyes as he is reminded of the fragility of this thing called life.
Elemoth seems taken aback by Shadow's show of fealty, and then kneels as well. Placing his right hand on the Tabaxi's shoulder he simply looks at him and earnestly says, "If you wish to repay any debt to me, you should simply live, and live well. And if you want to protect anyone, protect yourself and those that you love. What I did was my duty and my pleasure, and the fact that you live today and that the brother that cares for you so much did not have to be parted from you too soon is more than payment enough."
OOC: It's a good thing that there's resurrection in this game, I mean imagine if resurrection didn't work in D&D. That'd be kinda crazy amirite?
You all continue along down the stairs as the citadel comes into view of the dim light of Marion's lit glasses. You all then make it down the winding switchback stairs until you find yourselves at the bottom of the ravine. The narrow stairs empty into a small courtyard, apparently the top of what was once a crenelated battlement. The buried citadel has sunk so far into the earth that the battlement is now level with the surrounding floor. That floor stretches away to the north and south, composed of a layer of treacherous, crumbled masonry, which reaches to an unknown depth. To the west looms the surviving structure of what must be the Sunless Citadel. A tower stands on the west side of the courtyard. As you take a step you see that a lot of the debris is very unstable. I'm going to need DC 10 Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks for every 10 ft. you move, on a failure by less than 5 you need to make another one, on a failure by five or more something else happens.
Also, please tell me if that's the wrong marching order (and you may need to scroll around to the bottom right of the screen).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC: I'm fine with that. The front and the rear are both prone to ambushes, but the front's a little more dangerous, so having the healer at the back isn't a bad strategy. Especially since if the back gets ambushed, it means that here's someone with heavy armor back there.)
Elemoth keeps his shield at the ready and his mace drawn, nervously looking around at all the odd things he's seeing. Seeing what's apparently a castle buried so deeply underground that even its ramparts can be seen at this level is somewhat unnerving to him, and the fact that he's on top of crumbling stone in heavy armor (while not having inherited any of the characteristic "elven grace" from that side of his family tree) isn't helping. He trepidatiously takes a few faltering steps forward, testing the ground.
(Acrobatics Roll - 17)
Edit: (Basically, Elemoth will move with the party, but if they've stopped for the moment, he'll step out around 10 feet, then back to safety where he was)
(OOC: I think the whole party should move together unless specified otherwise.)
Marion gingerly follows the group, her eyes mostly on the unstable ground. "How much of the interior might still be intact?" she asks no one in particular.
As Marion steps forwards the ground smashes under her feet causing a loud cacophony of sound and for dust to come up all around her as she falls around five feet into a narrow pit of debris. This causes for her to take 2 points of Bludgeoning damage from the fall.
Climbing back out via the unstable debris-like floor is going to be a Strength (Athletics) check with a DC of 10. If you succeed you're fine, if you fail by less than five you may try again, but otherwise, something happens.
"Nyargh!" Marion screams as she falls into the forming pit. Landing on her belly the impact knocks the wind out of her for a moment. She cautiously stands up and takes her glasses off to inspect them. "Thank the gods, threy're intact."
Torment does not manage to notice anything; however, that is much to her downfall as she and Shadow take the next step the ground from under them collapses as they succumb to a pit trap! The floor comes speedily as they each take 5 points of bludgeoning damage and lands prone. As the dust clears around them they see that there are a couple occupants inside of this pit, one of whom is alive!

Flame glares at Marion, unamused by the joke at the expense of his recently near dead brother. "I see no other choice. Down we go."
