Elemoth steps around as carefully as he can in full armor with his weapon and shield drawn (now that everyone's out of the pit, he's got them on again).
As you all make it through the area move across the crawlspace and open the door to the inside of the tower. This circular area is cobbled with cracked granite, upon which sprawl the bodies of four goblins, apparently slain in combat. One corpse stands with its back against the western wall, the spear that killed it still skewering it and holding it upright. Three wooden doors lead from this area (one that you just came out of). A hollow tower of loose masonry reaches thirty feet into the air, but the intervening floors and stairs are gone, except for a couple of crumbled ledges.
"Killed with a spear. There's more down here than rats, alright."Marion goes to the goblin at the wall and inspects her."Unless they killed each other."
Investigation: 9 (I'm trying to ascertain how big the creature was that slew the goblin based on the spear's size and angle)
Marion pauses for a moment investigating that and conducting some trigonometric calculations, eventually concluding that it would most likely be a creature at least smaller than you. You also notice that the goblins seem to have been killed some time ago, judging from the state of their bodies and items.

Torment is being extra cautious after falling into the pit before. She'll move carefully around the room, and check the walls, doors and floors for traps or weaknesses."This place is falling apart... best to be careful. Probably the first rule of adventuring to check for these things. We should remember that," she says, gesturing to the goblins.
Torment begins looking around, so far she hasn't noticed anything (although it does take 2 1/2 minutes / 5 sq. ft. section so you haven't really spent too much time just yet). To examine the entire room's walls it would probably take around 60 minutes or so (assuming she's doing it alone). Of course, there are five of you...
"Yes, after our experiences with the falling and the pit, I'm quite inclined to agree." Elemoth replies, and gets to checking the room himself. He also tries to give the Goblins and the impaled corpse a once-over to see if anything stands out, and to see if the spear is still usable.

Flame silently nods as he begins inspecting the room. The last thing he wants is for his brother, or any of his companions, to fall into a pit and be covered in rates again. A shiver runs down his spine as, still fresh in his mind, the image of his brother being eaten by rats comes back to him. Flame quickly glances toward Shadow to make sure he is still okay. Satisfied that his brother is fine, he continues his work in silence.
As Elemoth grabs the spear out to inspect it, the goblin that was being held up by said spear falls into a heap. However, behind it you see a single word written in a language that he cannot understand. Nevertheless, as he does read them he feels a minor pain in his head like a sudden headache just came and vanished. Sadly none of the equipment seems to be usable anymore, most likely falling off in use some time ago.
Meanwhile, Flame also is searching the wall, and he notices nothing either.
Marion does not recognize it either, but it seems very old and ancient. Based on the inscriptions and the age that they have accumulated it seems that they were made at roughly the same time of the actual formation of the citadel.
"If you all want to take a moment, I can translate that," says Torment as she continues to examine the doors and walls. (OOC Comprehend Languages as a ritual, if we want to take the time.)

Elemoth grabs his head and winces for a moment, but recovers quickly afterwards. He shakes his head to clear it and looks at the strange word, and then at everyone speaking. "Yes, translating it and seeing if it means something sounds like a good idea. The rest of us can keep looking and stand guard I suppose." he says, hefting his weapon and shield.

Shivers go down his spine as Marion mentions rats. "Hopefully we've seen the last of these forsaken rats."

"Better safe than sorry, right? It might be a warning of some kind." Marion begins to cast a ritual herself.
(OOC: Since Torment casts a ritual, I might as well cast Detect Magic as a ritual too)
I'll see what everyone else wants to do, and then go from there.
