First, thanks for joining me on this. Appreciate it.
Since everyone has crazy schedules, you just have to post once a day. I wake up at 7 and go to bed at 12, most work days. So just get your post in between then. If we can get up to two, nice but once is good.
I picked the Rick and Morty adventure cause it was something all of you knew about. Also, since it's a less serious adventure, you can concentrate on learning the mechanics of the game and get comfortable with using the dice and learning what to do when. The other games I'm DMing are more regular adventures, so I keep more traditional in them.
Your characters will be going up to level three in this adventure. Three is the level most classes get their specialties, and the fun stuff.
I'm going to use one of my character sheets to show you what you need to look at to do what needs to be done. Any questions you have, just ask it in your post or text me.
I'm going to describe what you see and you tell me how your character reacts to it. You fight the monster, search for treasure, talk or cajole or threaten people or creatures to make it out alive.
If, by chance, your character does die, not to worry. We got a way for you to still play. Another plus of this adventure, whereas a death in another adventure would mean you'd need to roll up another character.
He looks at the four of you, and before you can wonder why, B&C employees are pushing you towards a large open dragon mouth mounted on a wall.
"You're the lucky winners!"
"Have fun!"
"Good luck!"
"Tell your families not to sue!"
You find yourself hustled through the mouth into complete darkness. There's beeps, flashes, and a questionable odor.
The lights slam on and you block your face, blinking to see. When you finally can, you find yourselves in a small room. The door you came through is gone, only a staircase leading down. And you're not the humans that walked in. Two Gnomes, an Aasimar, and a Goliath now stand there.
((You can take a minute to react, then hit the spoiler to continue.))
An obviously recorded voice booms out:
You’re an adventurer. Or maybe you’re even a group of adventurers. Whatever.
Why are you here? No one cares. Don’t tell me your backstory. We’re here to kick ass and find treasure. That’s your motivation. Now get ready to roll!
In front of you is a dark staircase. Its mysterious shadows beckon you to enter. And by “beckon,” I mean you need to go down the stairs, or there’s not a hell of a lot of purpose for us all to be here, is there?
Blinking and disoriented I stand in place, dazed by confusion. Looking over my hands, and my arms I see them to be rough and otherworldly, grey in color and rock-like in complexion. I stammer, “Wha..?? Huh...” I look around at the other creatures standing with me, I let out a questionably loud laugh, “Bahahah, at least I’m not the only one. This should be fun.”
Looking around at the new environment, seeing two creatures taller then me I examine my hands. "whoa I'm so teeny!" grabs his short swords "who's ready?"
You head down the stairs, roughly ten feet down. The space past the opening you can see is darker than the room you left. Not bad enough for darkvision to kick in. Dugak, you can see well enough to not need a torch.
You step into a room that you can make out to be 15, 20 feet long and ten across. What somehow didn't travel up the stairs before now hits you in the face. It smells like a pet store in here. You catch a whiff of wood chips, and you try to catch that whiff again as the smell of warm shit circles around you.
As you deal with the smell, you see four small bodies, clustered in an opposite corner, right by the ceiling. They look almost like bats. Then you make yourself focus on them and you see they're not bats.
Right before they take wing and come right at you.
Roll for initiative!
((So, I'll need an initiative roll, what you're using to attack, and your attack roll. The spoilers will show you how.))
This spoiler is for initiative roll.
Far right of the dialogue box (in desktop view) will be this. Hit it to make your rolls in your post.
Where it says "Add to result" is where you put the number in the Initiative Box on your character sheet.
If it is a minus number, you type the minus and the number.
With a plus number, you just have to type in the number. That will give me the fighting order, and I'll be rolling for the creatures. Hit Ok when you are done. You'll see the formula for the roll. You'll have to hit post to see the actual number.
This spoiler is how to do the attack roll.
For your attack, tell me with what are you trying to hit the creature with, either weapon or spell. Since it is rather close quarters, you are probably going to do a melee attack. The creatures will need to be within 5 feet of you.
Hit the dice icon again, now you need the Combat tab. The Attack modifier for a weapon will be the sum of two numbers. If you are proficient with the weapon (just click on the weapon to open the pop screen and it will tell you if you are), then you take your Proficiency bonus, (which is usually +2 for 1st Level) and add it to your Strength modifier.
As you see, my attack would have a bonus of only +2, since I have a Strength modifier of 0.
This will tell me if you hit the creature.
A spell will either sometimes work the same way, and sometimes the target you are aiming at will have to 'roll a save' which means I have to roll to see if the creature was able to dodge the attack. Tell me what spell you'll using and I'll explain what needs to happen. But do follow below to input the damage.
The damage roll will say how well you hit. Different classes have different dice they use. On the pop out screen for the weapon, look for Damage:
The number that reads like '1d6' is what you put in the Damage dice space. If there is a plus number after it (1d6+1) then the +1 is what you put in the Damage modifier. Fill in all the spaces before you hit Ok.
I know this is a lot of shit I've thrown at you. As always, text me and I'll take you step by step with the specific attack you're planning.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tawangnist steps forward, his shortsword already in hand. As the creature nears, he swings. The blade catches it and the swing carries it to the ground, dead.
Nexu gives a wild swing, the creature stopping to let it pass before shooting forward and latching on to Nexu's arm with its mouth and beginning to feed.
The last flies toward Dugak. Attack: 18 Damage: 7
It latches on and feeds.
Dugak brings his handaxe up and slices the creature apart.
When we start, it's going to be here.
For now, text me your account names and I'll set up a group message for any questions you have.
account name is fingilgun
Ability scores: 14 14 13 15 13 12

The link to the campaign page. It will ask you for the character you'll play in it.

132Humans of Earth C-132! You stand in the middle of that wonder of wonders, BLIPS AND CHITZ! ((Doesn't matter how you got here. Just go with it.))
Ahead stands "THE GREATEST ******* DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS GAME DESIGNER OF ALL TIME - RICK SANCHEZ OF EARTH C-141!"
He looks at the four of you, and before you can wonder why, B&C employees are pushing you towards a large open dragon mouth mounted on a wall.

Confused and grasping my thoughts, I look to those around and attempt to assess a course of action, “Guess we should head down those steps”
Very confused by the amount of eye strain of light, I turn to see the stairs. " step cautiously, it may trigger something as we go down"

Nexu and Dugak lose 5 hit points.
Tawangnist is up.
Thoughts and lust to kill come to mind as the creature is sliced in hand. Is it because of the past I prefer to see everything die by my hand
