Still holding the cloth-wrapped blade from Tiriana’s sword in her hands, Beyanna follows Azure towards the inn. She gasps in horror at the chaotic scene, as the patrons rush out of the back door to escape the vile, stinking, seemingly possessed livestock that are trying to force their way past the broken door.
Stopping well out of range, should the creatures suddenly turn and decide to take another run at the group, Bey speaks a few arcane words and thrusts her right hand out with the palm outstretched and fingers pointing upwards. Her eyes flash briefly as a ball of greenish blue energy crackles in her hand and shoots forward towards the horse as a roughly 4 inch wide ray of mystical force.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Asure summons the etheral bell that tolls for the horse, sending shivers dot he spines of those around it. The horse stops its thrashing for a moment before continuing its wild unatural flailing.

Beyanna launches the crackling ball of energy towards the horse. The pulsating orb illuminates the area around it as it streaks through the fog and slams into the horse, sending it somersulting sideways and slamming into the wall of the inn. The horse stops moving as the goat charges inside.
The goat leaps over the horse of the bull as blood and mold drip from its stinking body. Once inside it looks around frantically as if searching for an enemy before lowering its horned head and lunging towards the bearded man with a stick!

The charging creatures will slam into anyone standing in their way within moments. They are 15ft away. Mitt, Trianna, and Norge have a split second before the first of the creatures slam into the group!
OOC: I think I completely missed these sentences the first time. At the very least, I didn't think them important enough to actually HEED them. What an idiot. Well, what's done is done.
Jorge holds the chair leg out with both hands to stop the advancing goat from skewering him. "By Silvanus! What is this monstrosity?!" He speaks a druidic phrase, focusing in on the goat's essence, then swings his magical chair leg at the creature's head.

LOL I was trying to give people a change to move out of the way. The creatures are really only dangerous if they can hit you with a charge. I was fully prepared to allow you all to move to the side an just AOO them as they ran past since you all were not their targets :P Otherwise they all have low AC / hp and their attacks are pretty tame.
Also, You are Poisoned so please roll another attack roll and we will use the lowest :D
As the lunges towards the large man, Jorge swings his club and crushes the side of the goats face in one powerful swing. The body of the boat flips backwards and lands in the road. A few villagers scream as the body of the goat flies back out the door but are quickly relieved when it doesn't get back up. There are hushed murmurs from the crowd as the last of the decaying creatures is slain. The fog seems to dissipate just a bit around the front of the inn as the gnomish mayor pushes through the crowd. His fine black suit and hat seemingly unaffected by the nights events. "Who are you!? You all.. You saved us!" The gnome would shout as he races towards the group of heroes standing in the street. Jorge steps out the front of the inn at the sound of the Mayors voice, and the Mayor quickly motions for Jorge to join the group. The crowd erupts in cheers as Jorge joins Norge, Mitt, Azure, and Beyanna. "I've been looking for brave men and women like you all! Please! We have much to talk about.." The gnome would add as he motions them to follow him back into the inn. Turning from the group, The gnome would nod to a tall lizardfolk and a small kobold standing next to him. Without a word, the two of them quickly begin dragging the stinking corpses away from the entrance of the inn.
Azure rushes to the alley and picks up Tiriana's body and halts the mayor saying, "Wait... there are more corpses of creatures down the road... One of us fell tonight. She should be remembered more than any of us. She made the ultimate sacrifice for each of you." he says trying to make eye contact with everyone around them his eyes beginning to fill with tears again.
"Her name is Tiriana. She was a friend of ours. Unfortunately she didn't make it when we tried to stop the animals from reaching town. She worked at the tavern and would be relieved to see that you are ok, Jorge. Tiriana had a kind heart and was concerned by your absence."
Jorge looks at Norge, his face a mixture of surprise and concern. He looks back at Tiriana and tilts his head to look at her face straight on. He shakes his head. "You say she knew me?" He leans in a little closer ... a bit too close for some considering she's a corpse. "Tiriana," he says as if trying the name on for size. He leans back. "I might remember her." He looks up and the others can see now that his eyes look a little unwell. "She must have had a kind heart to have been concerned for this old sod. Does she have any people here in town? Parents? A lover?"
“Tiriana had a kind heart indeed; she was far too good a person to have her life cut so short, and in such a tragic and terrible way. My heart aches at her passing
”I do not know if she had anyone close who resides in this village, but she did speak fondly of you, Jorge.”
Tothe mayor, Bey replies, “We are those who would seek to put an end to this plague, and confront whatever evil inflicted these vile, hellish creatures upon us. I for one, if not all of my companions, would seek to find retribution for our friend so that her soul can be at peace. And I would venture to guess that the two matters are related.
”In fact, we were on our way towards the inn just now when these devilish beasts appeared in the fog and began their destructive rampage.”
Jorge looks truly upset at Beyanna's words to him. He looks again at the dead half-elf as Bey introduces herself to the mayor. He then looks around at the other four. He nods when he looks at Azure, but furrows his brow at Mith, Norge and Bey before turning his scowl back on Tiriana.
Norge turns to the mayor. "The names Norge. Tiriana will be avenged. What information can you give us about this plague? Do you have leads we can follow to get to the bottom of this?"
As the group introduces themselves to the mayor, A small figure pushes through the crowd. A goblin no more than three feet tall clutching a small black bowler hat with both hands and wearing a fine white shirt and red bow-tie approaches the group. "Shit... " Worm would say as he gets closer to the body. "I had hoped you were wrong but... that's her.."He would say with a frown. "She was all alone in town.. I had been letting her live here at the inn... I can take care of her funeral arrangements.." The goblin would offer as he rubbed the bridge of his long green nose.
After listening to Beyanna, Norge, and Azure describe Tirianna... Wrenchawitz would look to Rend and Dig, the Lizardfolk and kobold working to drag away the animal carcasses, and let out a small whistle. Both the black scaled lizardfolk and the red scaled kobold would look up and drop the legs of the creature they were dragging. "Gentlemen! Please clean yourselves up and take care of Tiriana first. She is a hero and deserves the utmost respect. Then you can finish disposing of that filth.." The gnome would finish as he waves a hand towards the stinking corpses. Rend would take one of his large black scaled hands and grab the silver chain hanging around his neck. In an instant all the dirt and gore covering both of their black robes and hands would disappear. The lizardfolk would then approach Azure with Dig the kobold by his side. Holding out his arms, he would give a small nod. "I take" He would add as he locks eyes with the Genasi.
Anyone living in Darkwater for a prolonged amount of time would know that the two of them are caretakers of the graveyard on the edge of town and have a very small chapel there where they prepare bodies for burial.
As Norge begins asking his questions, The mayor would hold up a hand as though trying to silence the armored man. "Everyone! Please return to your homes... Everything is under control... Rest well knowing that these five brave individuals are going to get to the bottom of this!" The gnome would say as he motions towards the five men and women standing next to him. The crowd looks less then convinced as Word ushers them away from the Tavern. The mayor would motion everyone to follow him inside the now empty inn. "OK... my information is limited. Why don't you all ask me any questions you may have and I will tell you what I know."Wrenchawitz would say as he motions the group to sit down at a nearby table. Food and mugs of spilled ale litter the tables and floor of the inn after the patrons fled in a hurry. Worm moves around the large wooden building picking up plates and mugs off of the surprisingly smooth wooden floor.
"Yeah, who's the tall figure wearing a thick black coat with a black hat on his head? We saw him for a second but then he disappeared and sent these rampaging animals towards town."
Jorge looks back and forth between Worm and Tiriana as the barkeep speaks. "Have I really been so self-absorbed this past year that I don't remember this lovely girl who's been working at my nightly feed trough, and even knows me well enough to be concerned about me?" the big man asks the goblin. After the goblin responds (if he does), Jorge places his free hand on the back of his neck and lifts the broken chair leg to show the barkeep. "It looks like I owe you some coin, Worm. Sorry about busting one of your chairs."
Walking back into the tavern, Jorge introduces himself as "Jorge" to Mith, Norge and Beyanna as if meeting them for the first time (whether he has ever met them before). He gives Azure a familiar nod. Azure would remember Evrevra, Jorge's deceased wife who died a year ago (shortly before Tiriana came to town) of unknown reasons (she was found dead in the yard of their home with no external injuries). He would also remember that Jorge and Evrevra were very happy together and both were outgoing and friendly. Since her death, however, Jorge has been sullen and antisocial. "Mayor, what's going on here?" Jorge asks, taking a seat heavily.
Azure reluctantly and gingerly hands over the body of Tiriana to Rend with a nod. "Be careful." he says mid transfer. Following in behind the others Azure is quiet. He seems to be struggling internally with what has happened and though he knows he should be courageous, all he wants to do is hide... to wake up from this nightmare and go back to yesterday. He'll sit down at one of the tables half hearing the conversation, half ignoring it as he thinks to himself. Then as he thinks of what the masked man said to them he speaks.
"Do you have any enemies? Anyone who would want to see you or this town destroyed?" he asks loudly then softens his voice realizing his hearing is probably impaired due to his blow to the head.
Another tear streams down Bey’s cheek as she watches the two caretakers lift Tiriana’s body. Before they can take her away, she moves over and gently lays her hand upon the dead girl’s cheek. She closes her eyes and whispers a few words before stepping back, wiping the tears away and hardening her expression.
”I have the same question as Mith,” she says it the mayor with a stern voice. “I should like to know who that tall man in black was. Does this description fit anyone who you’ve seen in and around Darkwater?”
Worm would look to the tall old man that looks as though he could squish the goblin under his thumb. "Jorge, you been coming into the M&M every day like clockwork since.. well.. you know." The goblin would look to the ground and squeeze his bowler hat between his fingers. "Tiriana worried about ya. She didn't talk much.. but if she had family... I imagine they are dead or gone... I think maybe the two of you had more in common than you realized" The goblin barkeep would say before turning and heading into the inn. At the mention of paying for the chair, He would just wave his hand back towards the man without turning around. "I gotta fix my damn door tonight before I can get the rest of this place cleaned up.. I ain't worried about the chair. You can keep what's left of it."
*Then, sitting around the table*
The gnome would sit and look between the five of you as you all ask your questions. Thinking hard, he would rub his hand against the stubble on the end of his chin. "I don't think I have any enemies. Who would have any reason to want to hurt me I wonder? Why I am trying to turn Darkwater into the nicest town on the continent! Darkwater will one day be the envy of even Waterdeep, you'll see!" He would exclaim almost excitedly before he holds up a hand and stops himself. "Sorry, I am very passionate about the town. You mentioned a tall dark figure in the fog with a black hat and black coat? hmm.... well I am sorry to say but that doesn't help me out much. Most of us around town wear hats. They are very fashionable you know! I actually require those that are working for me to wear particular kinds of black hat. It is kind of like uniforms I suppose.... I have hats for those that work the unskilled labor jobs.. and hats for those that work skilled labor.. and really nice hats for those that hold roles of high importance" He would rant before once again holding up his hand to stop himself. "Sorry, but back to the task at hand... If there is a mysterious person that seems to be able to... command? These foul creatures?... " He would say as he looks out the busted door towards the animal corpses in the road. "Then that is most disturbing. What is more disturbing is that I see many similarities between the wounds on those creatures and symptoms of those inflicted with the illness that has been spreading through town. About a month ago the first villagers started to get sick. They would have patches of dry flaking skin that would turn colors and bleed. The longer the infection lasted, the worse it got. Eventually their hair would fall out and their blood starts to change... I only saw it once.. but the blood got dark and lumpy as it bubbled out of the open sores.." He would stop talking for a moment.. his eyes would get very serious. "I don't know how they became infected.. and I don't know how my townsfolk continue to get infected. Those that were first infected have already died... and I am getting reports of more being infected each day. I suppose you can ask around.. see if those that are infected eat the same meals or drink from the same wells? I will leave it up to you to figure out the common link. " The mayor would pause and pull out a slip of paper. "Here is a list of the infected that I know about... Seek them out and figure out where this plague is coming from and put an end to it. I will pay you each 250 gold if you can do this for me" Wrenchawitz would say as he turns his head to lock eyes with each of you.
