Umbriel pays Daran the two silver, and looks at the group. "Let's go see if Baeshra is done, and either head out tonight, or first thing in the morning. We should get mounts from Barthen's or the Coster, perhaps a cart. I think Thundertree is our best bet for finding your cousin."
"Not too much, actually. After Mount Hotenow errupted their were rumors of zombies throughout the town, but that was 30 years ago, see? These days I don't think anyone goes near the place."

" I think your probably right. Some of us.....vertically challenged sorts can double up on mounts.......or we could just ride Baeshra...".
Whistler stares up at Lyngheid at the mention of mounts and nods excitedly.
"We will find yourcousin, Lyngheid." Whistler mimics with a sense of Kenku pride. After all, he and his friends found Glasstaff. How hard could it be to find another Dwarf? He thought to himself as he takes a swig from his trusty firewater skin. A sweet reward for remembering words today.

#1. By road to Neverwinter and then follow the river to Thundertree. This route will take about 5 days, has a pretty low chance of running into danger or getting lost, and a good chance of finding all the food you need along the way.
#2. Straight north through the grasslands. This route will take about 3 days, a little bit more of a chance of danger, should be pretty easy to find your way though.
#3. Follow the Triboar Trail to Conyberry, then go north to the river, and follow the river through Neverwinter Wood to Thunder tree. This route will take about 6 days, and has the potential to be more dangerous.
OOC: I added some information on how Travel will work under the House Rules bullets on the campaign page. Take a look and discuss which route you want to take to Thundertree.
Umbriel considers the map, absent-mindedly chewing on a cherry stem. "I agree, it's the fastest route, the most direct, and as long as we don't rush too quickly, we should be able to meet any threats on even footing. I also vote grasslands."
Alright, it's about 2 in the afternoon. I think Baeshra still has a cart and a new donkey. Make any trips you need to Barthen's for provisions and whatever else you might need. Keep an eye on your encumbrance. Are you going to be able to get everything you need for 6 days of travel on one cart?
"BAESHRA, NOT GOBLIN!" mimics Whistler. "We are going on an CAW!" "CAW!", he pauses... "ADVENTURE!" Whistler stops and realises he hasn't seen Ireniana or Rosie all day.
(Umbriel is going to set himself up for the journey at Barthens - he would like to buy a riding horse, saddle, bit and bridle, feed for six days, saddlebags, and rations for six days. By my math, with no discounts, that should come to 94 gp and 3 sp. Please let me know if that's correct or if I need to amend it - I believe with 480 lbs of carrying capacity, my horse, which I will name Pale, will be able to carry me, everything I own, and a skittish goblin.)
Lyngheid buys two days worth of rations, with her shield, mace and armour thats about her limit in carrying capacity. Her gold she arranges to be sent back home to help care for the temple. She's hoping they can find something along the way...

Yes, that math is correct. You'll have to get all that stuff from the Phandalin Miner's Exchange, but that's no problem. You can try throwing in a persuasion check to see if you can get a discount.
As you are picking out the horse (Halia has 4 to choose from), Droop is following you around. "Droop very excited! Droop thinks these are too big though. They will go bad before we eat them all?"

Sounds good. Gambling, I like it!
Also, if anyone wants to spend an hour praying at the Shrine of Luck, they can roll a religion check. A good roll might make you feel a little more lucky...

( Just a mule and pack saddle, no cart yet. Could a single mule reasonably pull a full wagon?)
Baeshra looks up as the strange little bird enters his room, "Just Baeshra. Have you figured out your name yet?"
Daran nods. "Thundertree. Yes. I was through there long ago, before Mount Hotenow erupted. It was a nice little town at the time."
"What can you tell us of the place? Have you heard of any dangers we should prepare for?"
"Not too much, actually. After Mount Hotenow errupted their were rumors of zombies throughout the town, but that was 30 years ago, see? These days I don't think anyone goes near the place."

The party heads back to Stonehill Inn. As they leave, Droop fills up a pouch with cherries, chattering to himself excitedly.
Back at the Inn, you pour over the map (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/play-by-post/60066-lost-mine-of-phandelver-campaign-thread?page=51#c1011) and figure there are three Routes:

Lyngheid examined the map, " I vote for the grasslands....roads haven't been any safer lately in my experience."
Umbriel considers the map, absent-mindedly chewing on a cherry stem. "I agree, it's the fastest route, the most direct, and as long as we don't rush too quickly, we should be able to meet any threats on even footing. I also vote grasslands."
