Rhokwill look around for any odd tracks leading into and out of camp
The trail you followed to arrive at the camp has multiple footprint marks, as is expected from a workplace. But Rhok notices that the most recent tracks are at least a couple days old.
Lia nods, sending Sabastian up to scout. She will have him look into any windows on any intact buildings.
Sabastian silently flies over the camp. There are some old ruins to the west, atop a 10-foot-high escarpment of rock. Neat piles of timber sit near the river shore.
The main area to the east has two groups of tents, one close to the water and another closer to your position. Through the owl eyes, Lia sees dragging marks on the sand close to the river. Tents are open, bedrolls and equipment litter the ground. Some things have a nasty stench and seem to have been partially dissolved by some kind of acid spray.
Between the tents and the rocky area to the west there are the ruins of a stone cabin, only the foundation and chimmey remain. And a large wooden cabin still standing. The door is closed and the windows are barricated from the inside, making it impossible to see inside.
"This is all giving me a really bad feel" Lothlién says, worried about the workers that were supposed to be there. "I guess we should follow the tracks, even if they aren't that fresh"
"I suggest we check out the locked-up-tight cabin." Lia suggests. "There are also what look like drag marks by the river, and strange acid spray marks by the tents." She shrugs. "Only other item to look into is the foundation of that one cabin, the one with the chimney all that remains, but that is likely lower priority."
Leaving Vincent firmly tied under a large tree, you start walking down to the camp. Only the murmur of water from the river breaks the silence.
The wooden cabin is about 20 wide by 50 feet long. It has a single door and 4 windows, which are barricated from the inside as Sabastian saw during his flight. The door seems intact and none of the windows shows signs of forced entry. Trying the door you notice that it's locked.

While you are thinking how to get inside, you hear a rumbling sound coming from the cabin. The walls tremble and you feel the earth rising as something digs towards you. Suddenly a huge insect like creature emerges amidst you. Large mandibles dripping and multiple pairs of legs clacking, it charges againts you!
