"I think we should escort Merla. The she can provide us with items that really suit our needs, I believe. That sword sounds great, but I don't think any of us could benefit a lot from it, right?" Lothlién suggests in a polite tone, trying to not sound too pushy
"A sword that slays dragons would be a prize, even if we cannot use it." Lia points out. "Think of how well-recieved such an item would be here in town..." She shrugs though. "I don't like that halfling lady much, but I suppose getting her to the gnomes would be a good thing to do, then we can come back and see about what needs doing next. I think getting the sword would be a very good idea, but there appears to be others in need still, this Big Al for instance."
"Perhaps this sword can bolster the morale of the town; an aspect I did not consider. Something to think about as we help the halfling... I understand her sole financial intentions may be dubious, but she is contributing to the defeat of this dragon, in one way." Xarroth suggests as they walk.
You walk back to find Merla and the other two halflings "Milo and Cora, they have travelled with me before but this is their first time in Gnomegarde", she presents them.
They have already secured the cart's load and fastened it to two ponies. Merla smiles seeing your group "hopefully we will make good time, given that the ponies had some extra resting time this morning."
The way towards Gnomegarde is pleasant. The hills have few trees to break the monotony and with Rhok and Merla to guide the group it's easy to find the right path. Sometime around midday, Sabastian flies fast back to Lia, hooting and fluttering around her head until she looks up north. A shadow flies over the clouds, moving from the mountains on the east to Neverwinter forest on the north west.
From Lia's point of view, the shadow looks like a pair of wings lazily flapping over the clod line. Everything points to the white dragon going out for a hunt. Luckily its looking for prey somewhere else and doesn't turn towards your location.
The rest of the trip passes uneventfully until you find the familiar lake and waterfall surronded by the gnome caves. Merla announces herself and soon after Roondar, the kings' aide, comes out. "Welcome, nice to see you again" he says at the merchant "the engineers will be most pleased to know that you are here." He notices the four of you behind the cart and his smile widens "I must tell the kings that you are here, after all the help you lent us last itme you were here I'm sure they will insist that you stay for a feast. What news do you have form Phandalin?"
"I would find it very hard to refuse a feast" Lothliénsays, in good mood. "I don't think we have great news from Phandalin. We cleared up an old dwarven fortress that might be somewhere to run to if the dragon situation gets worse... But I believe fighting that treachorous monster is our next stop, so it may be near its end!"
"Maybe not next stop." Lia says glancing at her companions. "I'm not sure we are quite ready for that battle, but it is nearing the point where we will be dealing with it." She sighs and follows the others along. "A feast does sound good though." She says with a smile for the gnomes.
Merla starts to direct her people to unpack their wares and starts setting up a tent outside the settlement "I'll keep an eye out for that pearl you wanted to check, don't worry about it."
Roondar leads you to the Kings' throne room and announces your arrival "illustrous visitors from Phandalin, my sires" bowing deeply to kings Korboz and Jebbedo. The kings are sitting in front of a side table, playing some kind of board game with multiple gears and tiny levers controlling the pieces. King Jebbedo turns his head towards your group and smiles "ah, you are most welcome here. Give us a minute to finish our duel and we will be right with you." He turns to the table as king Korboz proudly pulls a small green lever, making half the pieces fall to a side compartment "we sure have you now, this will only end with us winning" he proclaims smiling, oblivious to your presence.
The chamberlain shakes his head, thinking you are not looking at him, and coughs to get your attention "it seems that the kings are busy at the moment, follow me this way, if you please." He takes you through the settlement to a waiting room and opens a cabinet to take a decanter and a tray of cristal glasses "let me offer you a refreshment while I go take care of preparations. Unless there is something else I can do for you right now, I'll have someone come for you as soon as we are ready."
Lia smiles as she watches the kings playing the board game. She nods to the chamberlain, following them from the room. She accepts a glass as the servant hands them out. "Better than digging through an old fortress." She comments to her friends, as she sips the drink. "What do we want to do once we are done here?" She asks as she settles in a chair. "Off to find that sword, off to help Big Al or to do something else? I am not sure we are ready to take the dragon on just yet, but that is always an option as well, if we could find where it is lairing."
Lothlién takes a moment to leave the throne room, as he's both interested and confused by the game the kings are playing.
Finally at the other room, he gladly takes a glass. "It wouldn't be easy to be worst than digging an old fortress" he answers Lia. "Isn't Big Al the man on the mines? I guess he needs workers, not fighters. If you all think that retrieving that sword is useful for us, I would say that is our next step"

"I can only agree, though I can only speak for myself..." Xarroth looks to his comrades.

"True I suppose." Lia says with a sigh. "let us aid her to the gnomes and we can see where we go from there."

Lia squints her eyes and has Sabastian help her to figure out what the shadow she sees is...
