This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
If Heathen is willing to rescind the above, then this:
Badrizar sees that Kroneker has readied his crossbow. He whispers to the goblin, "Just a moment, impetuous one. There might be a better way. Give me a moment."
The cleric then studies the motionless guards and utters a quick Command. "Flee!" (DC 13 WIS saving throw for each; spell was cast as a 2nd level spell)
(If that's the case, Kroneker would be aware of that, so I will retcon his actions.)
Kroneker will point at the two guards and say to his companions: "Hey, Kroneker thinks we should kill them. They're clearly no agents of Lila and no friends of ours. They're already dead, lets put them out their misery."
If they agree to go with it, Kroneker will position himself in front of them and shoot the one yawning once the other two are ready to start the fight.
If it hasn't been an hour since the last fight yet, Kroneker will also use 1 bonus action to move his Hunter's Mark to the yawning guard, and another bonus action for Slayer's Prey on him before shooting.
Initiative: 9
Crossbow attack, guaranteed crit: 22 (if Hunter's Mark is not active, subtract Unable to parse dice roll. from that damage. If I did the macro right, this should be the same dice it rolled in the original roll.)
If they want to do something else, Kroneker will probably do something else, depending on their actions.
OOC: Everyone needs to slow down for just a moment. I need to know from Pirate what the roof is made of and some idea of how it is built. He only described what it looks like and not what it is made of. Most structures did not and still don't have incredibly sturdy roofs(there is an Astro's penthouse story to that). So I need to know what it is made of. Slate, thatch, a more modern roof design like our stick frame house. Even the modern stick frame house would not stop me for long at all. I have a hammer, sledgehammer a crowbar and various other tools to quickly punch a hole in the roof and avoid a fight and wasted resources(spell slots) Selthar has Second Story Work and basically has a climb speed equal to his movement.
"Kroneker. I will not allow you to murder others like the last group attempted to murder me when they thought I was frozen."Selthar's hand is on his rapier for emphasis. "They may be doomed. They may not be. We have not been banned from removing people from this world. We may be able to save some. It is possible that the guards are here protecting someone and not something. I can take a minute or two to inspect the building and see if I can find a way inside that does not involve violence. If it is someone they may be able to convince the guards to help us. The leader did comment about having a much larger force. Having a larger force of our own reliant on us to keep them from being frozen and lost to this doomed world would not be ill-advised."
"Badrizar, conserve your energy. We are both still wounded. Allow me a few minutes to scale and inspect the building. I will make a report and we will make a decision on how best to proceed."
"Even if we have to confront the guards we may be able to do so very easily. The time effect lasts only as long as we are nearby. If we release them we should be able to easily convince them to go investigate some other place. We will leave out they need us to do so and they will freeze and we can inspect the building freely."
Selthar does not relax his aggressive posture. "I will take as long as needed. I will not tolerate murder for the sake of murder. Until we have more information you could be willing to kill people to gain access to an office building that is filled with nothing but useless bureaucrats and paperwork. You state you are intending to end the misery of these people. Your actions to put a bolt or sword in the chest of a person peacefully yawning does exactly the opposite. We have no idea if they will even be aware of the end of this world. Leaving them alone could be the least misery they could endure."
Selthar continues to stare at the ranger. "Make your choice known. You will stand down and wait for the team to make a decision or you will continue with your murderous intent."
Badrizar eyes the interaction between the warforged and the goblin, unsure of what might transpire next. He chimes in, as smoothly as he's able, "Not a bad notion, Selthar. Not at all."
If/when Selthar leaves to recon the structure, Badrizar will send him on his way with some guidance.
(Hmm... I would simply say 'sturdy construction', but after some research, am concluding clay tile. I envisioned a building of such make to be able to keep a rabble out, and make difficult for burglars to get in, without the use of a grounds perimeter wall. Given time, you could surely pound a hole through most any construction with a sledgehammer, but the question for me becomes, how long and how much noise are you making in the process? Rather than doing a(nother) half hour or more research on the subject, I hope this ruling will do...)
Assessing the roof, you believe you can break in with two minutes of raucous work, or twenty minutes to pull apart an opening with far less noise using the tools at your disposal.
Once Kroneker slings his crossbow Selthar will scale the building. He will check the windows and inspect the inside. He will not check all the windows unless he sees a need to do so. Selthar's intent is to get a general idea of the layout of the building and possibly what purpose it serves.
When he gets to the roof Selthar quietly removes a tile or two to inspect the construction. The removed tiles going into his backpack. The tiles will be placed on the ground once he is back down.
When all that is done Selthar will make his way back down to Badrizar and Kroneker.
OOC/Spoiler for DM:
I will need to know what I saw if anything before engaging with the team. I am assuming Selthar can make the climb easily with Second Story Work. If you need me to make any checks let me know. Also, keep in mind I have pitons and rope and hammers for climbing. My assumption is that if the building is not designed with the intent of being very very difficult to climb then Selthar can do it with relative ease.
It is difficult to discern much on the second story through the small stained glass, but to the left of the main hall, it appears to be a library. As you ascend to the third floor, to all three of you, the haze implodes in on you within a second, causing a wave of nausea, but then even more quickly expands again, now allowing 35 feet of vision. The experience is far less bothersome, and Selthar manages to stay safe in his ascent. There doesn't seem to be an apparent trigger, when Selthar notices a flicker of candlelight coming from the room closest to him through the window. Looking into it, he spots a wood elf sitting upright on a close to the window with an unusual kukri in her hands, who looks toward him. It seems the elf doesn't notice Selthar, even as she approaches the window in a night gown. The middle aged woman holds a hand up, blocking the light from the window. "Odd... how long ago did the sun come up..." he manages to make out. She closes a curtain on the inside.
Moving along, the next room is much the same, but a half-elf rests in a bed opposite the window, twenty feet across, still frozen in time. The stained glass does not conceal the dark blue tint of this one's skin. Hanging from one of the bedposts, a cloak glows softly.
The manor is 150 feet at the facade, and 80 feet to the back. Frequent well-maintained shrubs and trees dot around the building, along with a flower bed in the back. The right side of the building has a single heavy wooden door that cannot be opened from the outside. The backside of the manor has received much less maintenance, with a fenced graveyard and a playground. Circling back around, Selthar comes back down at about the same time.
"This is a house of some sort. The people I saw looked like blue-skinned elves. It appears time froze for them during the night. One of them was nearby a window and my proximity freed them from the time effect. They were confused and did not notice me. I did see a cloak or robe of some kind that was glowing slightly. I assume it is magical in nature. The fog around me receded slightly while I was inspecting the manor."
"With our proximity being a problem I am unsure how effective creating an entry through the roof would be. It would take me about 20 minutes to quietly make an entry. 2 minutes if we did not care how much noise we made."
After Kroneker has a chance to respond and when the glint of blood-lust and treasure-filled daydreams fill Kroneker's eye's Selthar says "Why fight and possibly die for loot when they will be willing to hand it to us?"
"Who told you they will give us anything, stupid? But sure, if you want to be a dum-dum, wake that guy up..." Kroneker points to the yawning guard "...and ask him. If he decides to be stupid Kroneker can kill him quickly."
Kroneker stands ready and again points his crossbow at the guard. "Kroneker thought you Tin Men were supposed to be practical. Kroneker thought you, of all people, would understand. Kroneker is disappoint."
"Not that I'm ready for Kroneker to fire away, Selthar,"chimes in Badrizar, "but I do wonder about your assessment that these creatures will hand over what they have."
"These people have a very dire yet unknown need to survive. We have a very limited capacity to supply that. With that combination, it is simple supply and demand. They choose who will accompany us back to our world. Like a ferry service, we would charge for the task. In this case, the fee will be extreme. Magical artifacts, tomes and of course large amounts of precious gems and metals will be acceptable."
Selthar prepares to approach the guards by placing his rapier and short bow and quiver in his backpack. He removes his backpack and places it out of sight of the guards. He keeps his daggers and lock picks and armor on. All other gear goes in his backpack.
"Any other considerations before I attempt a negotiation?"
"Yes. Tell them that if we make a deal, Kroneker will honor it. But if they break the deal, betray, or deceive us, Kroneker will strangle them with their own guts! And Kroneker wants them to show us everything they have of value. Not doing that, or hiding something, will count as deception. And if they have any objections, remind them that we can always just kill them and take their stuff anyway."
The goblin says while reaffirming his aim on the yawning guard (which I assume is the one Selthar is approaching, hopefully? Because Kroneker already has 2 attack buffs on him in case he's not cooperating?)
Once everyone is set and ready Selthar approaches the yawning guard slowly. When the guard starts moving Selthar will stop and wait for the guard to notice him.
The moment the guard continues his yawn when Selthar comes within 15 feet of him, the haze implodes again, now extending to 40 feet for everyone. In the second that happens, the guard stumbles and nearly drops his pike, catching himself and grabbing it in one hand. The other guard awakens, not quite in the same moment, squinting as he slowly looks to Selthar. The one on the right (the formerly yawning one, Guard B) shakes his head in disbelief, blinking against the light, and taps his head against the haft of the pike. Still squinting, Guard A takes his pike in both hands, merely holding it upright in front of him. His voice is a little hoarse, deep toned. "How did you do that?" He glances quickly to the other guard, his squint slowly coming to an end, turning toward Selthar. "You don't look like a Heroic. Identify yourselves." Guard B holds his pike a little more assertively before him, but not poised to launch an attack.
"Greetings. I am Selthar, Acquisitions Specialist for the Imperatrix. What you just experienced is a byproduct of my proximity. I am unsure as to the exact mechanism of how it happens so I am unable to answer your question. I do not know what a Heroic is so I doubt I am one. I mean you no harm. I have come here at personal risk" at this point Selthar indicates his wound from earlier "and wish to speak to who is in charge of this establishment."

Kroneker is still aiming at the yawning guard, but after hearing Selthar he holds fire and looks at him with just the eyes.
"...you have 5 minutes. Kroneker won't wait any longer when Kroneker can just as easily eliminate problem."
After saying that, Kroneker will relax a bit, but still continue aiming, ready to kill at a moment's notice.
